I have two problems with using gameranger. First, isn't this just going to split the player base?
Yes. it will be split between people who don't mind waiting for connections on Impulse and people who want to get games going more quickly on GR. Some games fill more quickly than others, sure, but the norm is waiting than 10 - 15 minutes or MORE for a game to fill due to connection problems; the norm on Game Ranger is&nb

GameRanger uses port 16000. This should help some of you not being able to connect to others.
That has been the problem against the forums. Demigod was never balanced for 1v1 matchups and doesn't need to be. It is a team game.

First off, Chris you're whining and complaining but not presenting any facts. Just listing his abilities is not a valid argument. How many test cases have you done? Specific exampes of trying to beat Erebus? Which Demigods are you testing against him?&nb
No! Nerf everybody and everything except for my strategy and Demigod. Then, I can justly pwn as much as my overinflated ego expects me to.
Yep, that about sums it up. I sincerely hope GPG/Stardock are wise enough to realize the OP whiners are actually victims of their own weak strategies rather than OP bullies. Oh, and this was another good point someone made from the Erebus thread:
That has been the p
There is a fix to this issue, you know: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/349057 played two 3v3s and one 4v4 tonight :p
i havent been using gamerranger yet as i dont have any real problems with the game so far , but does it create its own lobby with players or just help with the connection issues ?
You first join a Game Ranger lobby for Demigod. Once the host of the lobby starts the game, Game Ranger launches Demigod and puts everyone in the Demigod lobby. I would assume it handles the networking as well, but I honestly don't kno
The lighting in the game sometimes gets screwed up when you minimize the game and come back to it. Only way to fix it is to restart Demigod. It also removes the circle showing the effective range of a skill. For example, if I select Bat Swarm as Erebus, it will not show me the circle around my character indicating how far I can teleport. This doesn't happen with every ALT+Tab; maybe 1:3 times for me. Screen shots: Broken lighting after ALT+TAB
For all of the unconverted, here's a screenshot of the 5v5 i just played courtesy of GameRanger. Had a couple of players with bad Sim Speed, so we played on with AI for a while. Oh, and I didn't spend 2 hours waiting for the game to fill and begin, either! No, this isn't the norm. No, you shouldn't expect this every time. Yes, it's better than what
Hmm, well, I can't speak to having any problems with Vista. My brother-in-law has Vista and I have XP, and we haven't had any issues. I have tried out the multiplayer in Demigod since the new patches, and it still doesn't work as well as GameRanger - yet. In any event, in spite of the marked improvement in the Impulse multiplayer set up, GameRanger still works better at the moment - at least for those of us who can get it to work.
There are several threads about GameRanger in these forums, but not nearly enough people are using it. It's the best we have until Stardock & GPG are able to resolve the networking issues. Frogboy even recommended GameRanger in his last Demigod Journals update. http://forums.demigodthegame.com/349002 There are tons of v.091 pirate games and only a handful of v.0105. We need more legitimate players! It isn't perfect, but it's a lot better than what
STFU n00b. So you got the butthurt over not being able to defend your position against someone with more knowledge of what's going on behind the scenes than you do. Get over it.
ViridShaman: One important thing about mist tho is that it takes away the effect of spit and (I think) other negative effects which can be rather useful
That's a good point. Mist has saved me several times from the UB spit and the Rook hammer.
Here's another vote for GameRanger until things work themselves out on Stardock's end. I was able to play several games last night in a 2 hour period, including 3v3s and 4v4s, and got started on one 5v5 but couldn't finish because I had to go to work in the morning and it was getting late. It isn't perfect; sometimes you have to go back to the GameRanger browser to pick up another player, but it is so QUICK and painless that it doesn't even matter. Bot
What about favor points? Are they fixed yet? *I ask because I thought I remembered reading that Pantheon updating would be fixed along with the negative favor points problem simultaneously.
Yep, this has happened multiple times for me as well. It's usually when I try to execute a bat-swarm + stun + bite combo that it becomes a bat swarm + stun + stand there like a goof combo. The bite glitch has cost me a few kills as well as earned me a few deaths.
OK, thanks!
I just realized that I can equip two body armors or two sets of gloves simultaneously. Is this by design, or is this an unintended feature that will be patched later? I don't want to get used to it if it will be removed later. I haven't tried this with two different sets of boots, but I'm assuming it would be the same.
Reply #43 in this thread is what fixed the problems for me. I recommend that it be made the first post in a new thread by itself so people can find the solution easier. Thank you, ragedemonz!
Great, thanks! This will really help out a lot.
FYI, Mediafire >> Rapidshare.
Thanks. Will scuttling ships accomplish the same goal as losing ships in combat to reduce the bounty?
I've read the manual, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to pay off a bounty that is on my head. I know that the computer can pay off their bounty and get it back down to 0, but how do you pay off your own bounty?
Ah, I see. Why select the Devastator over the Desolator? I'm still new, but it seems like the Desolator would have a big advantage because of phase missile swarm, especially once the phase missile upgrades are researched. Thanks for taking the time to share your strats.
I'm surprised the Desolator isn't mentioned. Is the phase missile swarm ability not as great as I thought for fleet battles?
