Yeah, imagine as if Sins of a Solar Empire required you to pay $10 for starbases, or Warcraft III charged you $30 for a fourth hero per race... gamers would *never* stand for it.
There's a difference, starbases were created AFTER Sins was developed, so your paying for the EXTRA time to create them. This is different than say....Sins released and if you want a Nova cannon? that's $ 10 bucks. Just add everything in and charge us one price. It's called in the real

I could almost understand dlc after the game has been released with the devs feverishly working to create additional content to prolong the games adventure. But at launch all they are doing is taking parts of the game and charging you extra for it. Complete bs....imagine playing Dragon Age without the Stone Prisoner. Imagine DOOM - dlc --- pay extra for the shotgun? Zelda -dlc- you want arrows? S
Well thats unfortunate, since i don't know if i can put Dragon Age off long enough to re-re-return to Sins There just isn't enough free time for a gamer. Is this why player counts seem to be a little lower on Sins lately . That being said I just got Dragon Age and will likely run into the same dilemma...
ditto

Something tells me this expansion is a bigger job than the devs thought it was going to be. I bet beta AFTER the new year, and us playing release version LATE spring into early summer.

Setting staging points for operations often happens to coincide quite nicely with keeping your ally "honest." I actually think the AI is fairly mature in this aspect, honestly. I've had human players betray me in much more immature manners before. The AI is only doing what I would do in any temporary alliance situation: work togeth

I've been finding lately that smaller maps 10-20 planets are challenging against a unfair ai(researsher). You dont have the resources to build up to top levels and THEN attack. You have to fight w quite small fleets for every inch, it's quite satisfying. plus you dont tech up till the very end.

What I'm thinking is if phase lanes that are of different types, it would add a layer of strategy on an excisting game mechanic. A phase lane of different speeds, some that take all antimatter away, some that are unstable and close ever so often.(destroying every ship in transit). Phase lanes between meteor wells( Would subject ships to damage hitting some meteors) Phase lanes between stars would be fast due to solar winds. Ph

Personally I was talking that you can't see races in the lobby, or in game setup. like 3 minutes into the game you are going to know mot of everything anyways, but it might put a spin on things if you dont know you are going up against 2 advent 2 tec and a vasari, if your team chose to be all advent.

The problem is also in single player....when you set it to random, I p

One thing that I'm afraid of and someone pointed this out is with the new diplomacy options, you can befriend a team until it is advantageous to you to break the alliance. So if you are used to playing locked teams where everyone is your enemy at once, you can pick and choose, which MIGHT make the game easier than it is to experienced players. You should incur some type of HUGE pena

Seems a little strange that they don't (At least, from my experience, they don't).
Thats a great idea. For those who think this is too much micro manage, this is a STRATEGY game and anything that adds to the strategic element of this game can only make it better.

I think you should incur some type of penalty(out of fuel?) just leaving your strikecraft out of their bays just hanging around waiting for the next attack. You should have to micro these units, launch them when needed, and dock when the situation calls for it. Maybe a timer when units are launched to replocate fuel used. After the timer runs out well you just lost a squadron. I think it would make another strategic varitable to the game...if a pla

Since it is space, and the limits of gravity do not exist, plus the concept of multiplanet mining, they would be a cross between today's AC's and battleships... For this reason, I see HC's having somewhere around 900-1200 and capitals 10-20 thousand with the egg more in the range of 100,000...
That's putting alot of eggs in one basket........

I guess they could scale down the ship and stucture sizes, and you would just have to zoom in more to see the details. I read somewhere that planet sizes where going to be larger, but they got in the way when zooming around your grav well. Btw I always though the crew sizes in the manuals to be to large, only pictured a crew of hundreds in capital ships, and most frigates maybe a crew of 50+
I thought it would be interesting if you could make alliances with the neutral planets. So instead of attacking all of them you could go into a partnership were you provide "protection" for a percentage of their economies. You mean like a protectorate? Weaker factions and defeated factions could also become protectorates of a nearby much stronger faction or the faction that defeated them.
I can see Advent and Vasari wanti
Yes I love building multi SB's in the suns grav well, but the AI has a hard time taking out 1 SB let alone 2, and once u have 3 or 4 it can't do anything. 3 nearly fully upgrades TEC SB's destroyed the combined forces of 2 Advent allied AI's last game.
