Since, you are alone in many of your problems that says to everyone the things you are mentioning are your problems alone, and not with the game itself.
Thats not a correct assumption by a long shot. If bugs were common, they would be fixed during the development phase. Also, I tend to often save and reload games. I am starting to believe that this might be the root of all my problems. I think that somehow the memory isn't purged of all old data and when I reload a ga

I reinstalled my system 2 weeks ago. its clean, its up to date, its not running any major things. I also play other games and they work fine. The Spy bug is - in fact - a bug with the game. Like so many others. Also, I am trying to have fun with it, but am unable to, because I can't play a game without running into one of the many many bugs. Maybe you just haven't played it that much yet to get an in-depth look? Maybe I just click too fast (i.e. moving ships or changing taxes wh

1. add an option to turn off most popups (asteroid base changing owners, research done, ship going into standby). On huge maps, all those popups can really interupt your gameplay. 2. add more shortcuts and keep them consistent. Make it so "return" = done or accept on all screens. "esc" = cancel or close on all screens. Add more hotkeys, like "space" to end your turn. And maybe more hotkeys so you can really guide all your ships without having to open up the details panel.

Hmm another bug. I am in Mission 3 of the Arnor campaign and far into it. Now, almost everytime I want to place or nullify a spy, the game crashes. How can you guys say this game is not buggy and keep a straight face while typing that?
Babamilo, are you retarded or just stupid? Personal computers, meaning "home" computers are only designed to do one major task at a time. This is how your CPU or Processor works. It can only "process" so many commands at a time.
You have to distinguish between processes(i.e. tasks) and threads. GalCiv2 is a single process with about 10-15 threads running during gameplay. Threads execute at the same time and are vying for the processors attention to get their stuff pro
Yes, but you are not supposed to do this. Official line would probably be, like for all games, close all other applications that may be using resources.
While true, the "aftershock" events bug still happens when solely running GalCiv. Of course, if your processor is just busy running GalCiv, its much less likely that processing an event (like completing a research project) will for some reason not complete until after a player has already started up a new game. The fa
Wait, you play a DVD defrag and copy files at the same time and play the game?
Putting your system under immense load will more reliably produce the kind of odd behavior within the game that I was talking about ("aftershock" events from previous games). Which you would want so you could inspect, test and maybe eventually fix it.

Hmm, you guys aren't really grasping the problem here. The problems I see with the game (lack of interface customization, sluggish interface, bad UI design, not enough shortcuts, too many popups, memory leaks all over the place) will most likely never be fixed. Why do I believe that? Because going back and retooling technical core aspects of the game is too much work = too much time = too high costs. Especially the greatest flaw, that comes from the multi-threaded way the game runs

I can answer your question, but first keep the following bug in mind that I listed above: -> clicking in the lower right corner of screen (next to the turn button) will open up the research screen. While this might maybe only happen at high resolutions and in widescreen - who knows, its annoying. One game consists of hundreds of turns, I open up the research screen countless of times per game. Secondly, how can you miss something as obvious as this when shipping a game? To me, that shows

Every couple of days, I sit down and decide to give Twilight another try. After all I payed for it. But seriously, how can you Stardock guys sleep at night after releasing such a - nicely designed - but horribly programmed pile of crap? The memory leaks bring my framerate to a halt after 1-2 hours of play and force me to restart the game. The User Interface is totally sluggish, plus the game annoys you with constant popups and has a tendency to spring stuff on you (i.e. move the screen

Hey CarliElf, thanks for the reply. Quiting the game and then reloading any save game works fine and fixes all the problems described in my above posts. I run into these problems after I have been playing for a bit. Reloading multiple times during one session produces more interesting results as you go on. This leads me to believe that the data from the previous game isn't correctly purged from memory when you hit Strg+N or reload saved games. Also it might be helpful

- if you have ships in orbit as defenders and then set the auto launch directive from the default of 3 to 0 in the gameplay options, the game crashes.

ToA falls right in line with other Stardock games, as in being extremely buggy. Things I have found: - reloading a save game can sometimes cause teh game to revert to the original buildings and tech tree. As in: race specific buildings, tech tree etc go away and are replaced by the standard, common building graphics and tech tree from Dark Avatar. - Clicking in the very lower right corner of the screen (where the TURN button is) causes the research window to open - I am currently

Found another problem: If you want to decomission a building the list of planetary improvements can't be scrolled with the mouse wheel. If you have many planetary improvements available to you, and you want to decommission a building you placed by mistake you do get severely slowed down by having to click on the scrollbar buttons manually. Also, I wish the user interface was 100% customizable by the community. After all there is no multiplayer mode on which user interface modificati

Let me say that I bought Galciv 2 based on the good reviews all over the press. Let me also say that I won't be buying another Stardock game anytime soon. Why? I like to play strategy games on huge maps with tons of other civs and I like to play them fast. The user interface in Galciv 2 however isn't customizable enough and too buggy to enable me to play like that. Since Twilight will be the last expansion, I am hoping that some of my concerns outlined below will be addressed in a futu

I also ran into the bug when playing "Escape". Can't finish the map, since my attack level is a high negative number. Even if I land 50 million troops, they all get slaughtered.
I once completed a turn, decided to restart the game and got *all* the way to the loading screen for the next game before that research thing was done.
The point I am trying to make here is, that you can easily take multiple actions between those 2 screens. Even go so far to start a new game in the most extreme case. Still, even while playing normally its annoying. Because you already started focusing on something different when that research screen interupts you like an

About 3) In that case one should be allowed to launch multiple ships at once. Try launching 10 ships while having to select the planet again after each one.

I have run into the problem where the UI seems really sluggish for me. My first issue with the UI: its very obtrusive sometimes. For example the robot movie that shows when you complete a research project. I would love to see an option that lets you disable that. Maybe make it so that research projects only show you those small alert icons that drop down the right side of the screen, similar to whats done when a ship is built. The same is true when a sruvey ships goes into standby m

Yes I found the mod that removes that "glare" - another minor annoyance with the UI to be sure. However my biggest problem right now is how the game keeps interupting gameplay. Most events that are logically tied don't execute right after another. Consider the example when a research project finishes. With a research project almost done I once completed a turn, decided to restart the game and got *all* the way to the loading screen for the next game before that research thing was do
