This is pretty awesome. I already own retail copies of TA and CC, but not Battle Tactics. Definitely a nice bonus to buy it off of Impulse.

For what it's worth, I vote single player to be the primary focus because that's what I'll play 90% of the time. Occasionally I'll play on a LAN so that should get some attention too. Personally, I don't do too many random online games as far as turn based strategy games go (and neither do most of my gaming friends) so I say if you have to make cuts somewhere make it in online multiplayer. I'd love for all 3 experiences to be wonderful, but chances are necessity will dictate that something's
Btw, can I assign units to task forces? If not, I'd love to see that feature.
If you're talking about assigning units into numbered groups then yes. Press ctrl + 1 to put units into group 1 and alt + 1 to select units that have been put into group 1. Same thing for numbers 2-9 of course. As far as adding strategic zoom... I agree it would be a great feature, but I'd be very suprised if it was possible.
@Jerry60k: Thanks for the ini help. +rep I still have my original TA and CC CD's, but the TA disc has since become scratched and nearly unreadable. I had remedied this by simply copying my old TA directory and transfering it from PC to PC as I upgraded (just like lbgsloan posted), but I lost the files a little while back. $10 to get my game back with some potential upgrades if things go well? Sold!
Quick question for you guys. I was looking for the totala.ini file in order to raise the unit cap and can't seem to find it in the Impulse version. Does it still exist? Am I just missing it? Also, I can't seem to go past 1280x1024 in windowed mode. If anybody could enlighten me as to how to get a higher resolution (like frogboy's 2560x1600) please let me know. Thanks
If memory serves, you could change the unit cap by just editing a text file in the original TA (though things could get wonky if you went to high). I'd imagine it's the same in this case. As to your other questions, I don't know, but I'm curious.
I just bought a new CPU. Now it looks like I'm going to have to work a SSD into the budget... :P
As much as I dislike Apple's products overall. I have to admit that it's a pretty feature rich tampon.:) The ipad seemed to have some promise, but looks underwhelming on paper to say the least. Hopefully the rest of the consumer electronics industry will do it's thing and we'll have several "ipad clones" out there in the next couple of years.
There is diplomacy in that you can give ships and such to your allies, but you can't break alliances nor create new ones and you can't negotiate with the AI. The game is purely the human players (1-8 players) vs the 2 AI players (that scale in difficulty the more people that are playing). It's asymetric warfare with the humans being the little guys trying to overthrow the AI's controlling the galaxy. It's kill or be killed, but the good thing is the pace is generally however fast or s
AI War is a whole different beast compared to Sins. First, there is only single and cooperative play against the AI in AI War so you can't play against your friends but you can play with them. Second, the scale in AI War is generally much larger than Sins. Fleets commonly number in the thousands mid to end game and you can set up maps with up to 80 stars (nodes on the map) to fight over. Overall, its a very different game and I'd recommend you try out the demo from the developer's main site.
Well, the system requirements list windows vista and it says the game is actually run using dosbox so my intuition tells me that it should work on windows 7, but I haven't actually tried the Impulse version of the game so I can't say for certain.
I have high hopes for this game reading many of the user reviews on various forums. It sounds like it is very mod friendly and the developer seems interested in fixing important issues. I personally don't really want to buy this from matrix (although I might if it doesn't show up here before Christmas) and gamestop is less than special (to put it nicely). So, how about it Impulse, I understand you guys work hard, but it would sure be nice to hear something about this. Just a "we're wo
Easy difficulty is just that, easy. People with level 3-4 classes definitly shouldn't be playing on easy. On normal things get a good bit harder but not impossible in random public servers and hard is a good step up from that. Don't try to join suicidal difficulty servers unless your class of choice is at least level 4 imho. The best part of the medic class is you can level it by healing people even when you are not currently playing a medic. Easiest class to level.
You can weld doors shut to keep out the zombies, but they'll eventually break through if somebody doesn't keep the door secured. It's important to keep an escape route handy. Locking you and/or your team in a room with only one way in or out is a good way to get everyone killed. Everyone on the team has a welder, but the support class can use it much more effectively. Doors, gates, etc. are really the only thing you can manipulate in the environment beyond hacking or exploiting parts of the m
Killing Floor is great fun and the developers are pretty good at fixing issues and occasionally some new content. Being a team based game, the quality of your experience will largely be determined by your team. Random pubs have worked well for me, but a griefer does pop up every now and then. It can really help communication if you or somebody else on your team has a microphone (the more the better). If you have a group of friends to play with then you are golden. It's hard to compare Killing
Yes, demigod was published by Stardock, so it should work without any problems. It's how I got my copy of demigod.
You can scroll down on each side and find Rook and Erebus. I can't seem to select demon assassin in single player, but it works fine in multiplayer. If you want to just try it out, start a passworded custom game in multiplayer and just play against bots. See if it works for you.
Please let us know if you think it's good or not. :)
It's not on Impulse yet. I'd be surprised if we see it this week because of thanksgiving most people take thursday and friday off. You can currently buy it directly from Matrix games (the publisher). I plan on waiting out the Impulse release. It sure would be great if one of the SD guys could give us a heads up though. Just a "it's on the way" or "we're working on it" would be awesome. [e digicons][/e]
That's a fair point [e digicons][/e]
I can't imagine anybody is really suprised about this. The only thing that strikes me as odd is that they would break the release date on such a relatively unknown title. How much money could they really be making off of this? I too plan to buy this on Impulse. Maybe we'll be lucky and it'll be released tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath. :)
Sorry for the double post. Forum fall down go boom...
I'm pretty certain, and please don't take me wrong, that the whole point of the game was to be in a different genre of strategy games than Supreme Commander. Everyone says "don't compare Demigod to DotA", but DotA is probably the closest and most popular thing to Demigod that you can find (at least back when it was released). Saying that the game doesn't belong in the RTS genre really depends on one's definition of RTS games and is obviously a matter of opinion. It's played in real time and s
Sins is to Demigod as an apple is to an orange. Sure they are both strategy games, but they are not comparable beyond that. I'd whole heartedly recommend both games if you are a strategy fan. Demigod is definitely more about the multiplayer, but it sure is a steal at $15 this weekend.
