I have GOT to find some spare coin to get on the demo boat. Thx for the teas devs!

Damn this is looking good...thx for another exciting update!
I wouldn't mind a way to choose the frequency of mythical creatures as a starting option (few to common), as it would add quite a bit of replayability and style. Perhaps starting setup could be a future dev diary?
Nice.
I'm already 1 step ahead of you then. When she's on the phone and we got a TV show/movie paused, I'll just go sit at the computer, boot up a game and w/in minutes she'll be off the phone. All I ever need to do to get someone to show up at the house or get off the phone is find something else to do.
rofl! Now that's one I will definately be adding to the quiver.
Great post Denryu I hope the quest elements lay somewhere along those lines.
Quote from Adolfs dad: "There's a new president and he says it's time for a change; well, then it's time for a change" I'd say that comment is a wee bit scarier than naming your kid Adolf. Still, if we all keep thwumping out our little miracles, I'm sure we'll get that shakespeare manuscript eventually. Oh no wait...wrong metaphor...
Yep, I always play them as neutral, I've never agreed with the idea that profit-mongering as a primary agenda is evil.
Hi, I would just like to wish everyone at Stardock and the GC2 community a merry xmas. I have gotten so much joy out of GC2 and the forums here over the past year and am looking forward to much the same in 2009. Twilight is continues to excite the imagination and I'm sure Elemental will to. All the best!
Nice, I think the stretch for realistic graphics has done a lot of damage to gaming over the years, often reducing the visual element to the role of passive mimic. It is inspiring to see that art is at the forefront of your thinking for elemental, as that elusive x-factor 'timelessness,' is more often a derivative of symbol than of scale. Looks great! I look forward to seeing this unfurl.
Well deserved. Good stuff team.
At the same time, you want the guy with that new Core i7 with the latest nVidia or ATI card to look at it and go DAMN that's cool.
Nope. I just want an immense elemental game to run as smooth as an Immense, common settings GC2 game. Is that a realistic hope at this stage?
Heroes also needed to be resurrectable by all channelers. (make it expensive if you have to)
I don't mind the idea of a limited number of resurrections, something about their sol only being redeemable to a certain degree. Its kind of like a cake and eat it scenario that if pursued could open up interesting story elements. For example: Everytime you are resurrected, you lose some diplomacy skill because you are less able to flaunt your charisma, or channeling skill becau
The Bureaucrats hail from the grey, soulless world of Monolith. The galaxy needs indexing
lol...thats awesome, I think they've actually taken over my own state government in real life. I have a few myself, including an "Outer Rim Territories" group that hail from the planet Formis, in honour of that champion of generosity. Damn what happened to that guy? He was best thing that ever happened to GC2 outside of Stardock themselves. He just dropped his bomb of awesome and
wb man... i hope some sort of sharmanic journey was involved
Sounds just like my experience with Vista.
lol same...you have to wonder what some people get up to on their computers... I'm running both atm and quite frankly barely notice the difference, except that the Vista machine seems not to care when I stack too many browsers. If it wasn't for that though, I would likely forget that they're different at all (they seemed different at first, but I have since decided this was mostly superficial). Maybe learning new stuff
The best way to destroy pirates is to outcompete them - make THEIR products expensive, yours cheap. It's that simple.
Give that man a banana!
That is quite possibly the silliest thing I've heard this week. A legitimate seller cannot compete at market level with a pirate without outside support. Piracy comes in two forms: commercial and online.
It's not really Willy. It's merely a limit of market perception. Intellectual property kind of br
Hi lost, By no means am I a gun but here goes: Altarians and Iconians are both excellent research civs. Regards your strategy... I would say that everything flows from the economy. Therefore, focus on getting your populations up fast (low taxes to keep pop at maximum growth early) and invest in a little bit of diplomacy/military to keep the wolves from the door. Once the deterrents are adequate... say advanced dip, a trade route with obvious threats and a production line of defenders
One of the best changes in 2.0 that I didn't really realize was going to make the game so much better was the change in weapon tech costs. It is now quite difficult to get up the weapons tree. Combined with other techs being less expensive (the removal of the big late game tech penalty) and you really end up having to seriously look at other strategies.
Spot on. Nice one.
Star Wars is Science Fiction.
Neg. Farseer Trilogy for me...damn those 3 books are incredible. Though maybe more gritty than epic. As for WOT...I'd have to say he completely lost the plot post Lord of Chaos. I'll never forget him starting book 9 with 4 new characters, nor the wholescale cut and paste of Dune that was book 4. People of the dragon...lol...People of the Kwisatz Haderach.
Well, it might work well enough for private users, but in the business world everyone with some common sense wouldn't touch it for all the money in the world.
I think you'll find that it is more of an "ain't broke don't fix it scenario" mate. And that "all the money in the world" is pretty much the bottom line. Vista itself, although n00b friendly to the point of making things difficult, is incredibly stable. It's so helpful in fact that it has made me care a lo
3 and 5... but 3 is the ultimate, i place 3 in a separate class of game w/ gc2. The rest of the gaming world should bow to their imaginative glory. Defining factors for me is although 5 has exceptional artwork and wonderfully realised factions, the scale is just not satisfactory... no matter how big of a map I choose it still feels like I'm playing in my backyard. Coupled with this is the fact that to temper this, they have paced 5 to play ALOT slower... I'm currently playing a six fa
Sounds like fun... Good luck to all involved
Wonderful. Thx for patch Stardock!
Woohoo! I bow humbly in the face of Stardock's pure awesomeness.
The website is beautiful..how exciting! Game sounds packed with mega goodness...can't wait for this one. Praise Stardock!
Gygax was a greed-head who polluted a genre that should be open-source based with an endless chain of commercial hack jobs aimed at getting people addicted to shopping for accessories instead of using the core rules as a springboard for creating their own worlds. And then he sold the brand to a crowd with even worse values.
Salute! Breaks the heart doesn't it? @Seabass... I dunno, I kind of get it personally. I mean if Christianity doesn't have idealism...what d
