I don't think that's it. I think that humanity as a whole doesn't want to believe that we will ever go extinct, or that anything "better" than us will ever come around. Because if we accept that, then the entirety of our history, our culture, out very existance is meaningless. No one would ever want to believe that our "purpose" is to die and become oil for some far-off civilization.
Our posts are not that disimilar really, cultivation of meaning is after all a symptom

Frog, the dev journals are fantastic, why does it matter that some people fire up? They're just ideas, pick and choose what you like and done...after the hours upon hours of fun I had playing GC2, I for one am extremely confident Stardock will deliver in the end. And if I'm wrong and I don't like it, I can always play something else.
Perhaps the whole point of our species was for us to produce plastic for some future species to make use of.
Aye, I made that exact point a few pages ago but it went unpicked. It's a very unpopular idea that one, though I've never quite understood why...perhaps it has to do with the idea of the tree falling in the woods...that it truly cannot exist without a sentient audience, and that this will remain a privelage reserved for humanity.
Gaining that office is like some horrible collision between having a religious conversion and getting dosed with powerful pyschedelics without having the least idea about set-setting-dosage guidelines. And it doesn't help that no small few of them end up on factory meds that help them 'stay productive' while they're steadily growing less sane.
I’m sure there are exceptions but it sure seems to me that not only are all deniers conservative, but also that all conservatives are deniers. And the reverse seems true about liberals.
Such is the usual outcome of topics fed into the rhetoric engine.
It just seems to me that this denial stuff makes folks seem like the lunatic fringe and so all that happens is that they get ignored whereas if they admitted the obvious and simply argue against extrem
Given the GFWL "experience" thus far, I'd rather have a rabid badger shampoo my crotch than buy a game off of the service.
Agreed. GFWL can just go away.
Seriously though, I've been complaining about this for a bit, and guess what, all of them are going to have exclusives which makes having each of them necessary.
Strong, but I can dig your annoyance, I think of it like a filter...I was very excited about DOW2 but the GFWL invasion made th

Ah this is just great... Several treaty types is fantastic news. CariElf, will their be any bonuses tied to relations status? As in increasing values depending on the flow of love? It would be a great way to deepen alliances in the game and a possible way out against a recourse lucky juggernaught. Would it possible to integrate tech trade into the diplomacy model?
I wonder if they'll ban the movies too? Pretty lame from the country that turned out such greats as "Mad Max".
It's actually the interactivity factor that's causing alot of the problems...thus movies are fine (and have r18 anyway)
If any company saw a order for the game and it's address was in Australia they'd have to send that customer the Australian version of the game.
It's not like any Aussie with an internet connection can't get those games anyway.
wish they'd just go the expansion route like they used to
So do I...DLC makes me think small and thus less immersive, though I freely admit that this is a potential failure of my own imagination. As long as they compile it all for a single sale in the end I'm happy, just cbf keeping track of multiple instances of content...

Given Stardocks track record for post-release love, I'm sure such a foundation is going to yield great goodness in the long run.
If I'm 300 or 400 turns into a game of Elemental and I'm winning, I'm going to feel pretty mad if one of my competitors suddenly has a massive force and is hammering down my castle doors.
Granted, but often one of the criticisms leveled at 4x games is the boring late game. Hopefully there will be some kind of convergence with the different strategies available in elemental, personally I'd like to see diplomacy play a role in good comeback strategies, rather than just a
