1.0.4 is currently coming out "soon" (to use a favorite Blizzard term). It was supposed to be out already, but some problems came up during testing. At some point after that, a bigger 1.1 patch is also planned. No timeframe there.

There's currently plans for at least two more patches, with probably some more. I wouldn't be too worried about the game being abandoned in favor of the expansion quite yet, especially since it hasn't actually been announced. :)
Yep, you can do this. Set your human buddies on one team and some AI players on another team, and enable locked teams. Good to go. :) (You can also play you and a computer against your friend and a computer, or you, your friend, and a computer against 3 computers, etc.)
Have to agree with the Trade thing. Get Tradeports up and running as quickly as is viable. They generate a ton of income, which you can use to buy the other resources as needed.
a quiestion: if i kill a figher/bomber dock (either ship or hangar), what happens with them?I never really took the time to look...ty
The fighters start to slowly die off. They don't vanish right away, but they do eventually disappear without a support structure/ship.
Ah thanks. I think it should display lines, maybe a different color for potential links between phase stabilizers.
I think the reason why they didn't do that is with a lot of phase stabalizers, it'd get really confusing: 2 stabalizers = 1 lane 3 = 3 lanes 4 = 6 lanes 5 = 10 lanes 6 = 15 lanes etc Once you have a lot of them, the map would turn into a giant web of phase stabalizer lanes, and would be hard to read.
Another useful tactic I learned when dealing with pirates involves Trade stations. I was in a 1 on 1 game and had taken several forward planet and built trade stations on them but little else to defend. I lost the pirate bidding and a fleet of pirates showed up and instead of attack my stuff they went after the trade ships. (For the most part) This helped me a lot over the game as each time the pirates showed up they would go after trade ships and I'd let my turrets pound them until my fl
Select the cannon and right click on the shoot ability. If you see a little animated thing (I think its an arrow or something), that means autocast is on.
As was mentioned, you can tell an Advent Tradeport to "stop trading and become a refinery". I tried it once, and I found that the lost credit income didn't make up for the gained resource income, simply because you can use those credits on the black market to buy whatever resource you need, or on Pirates to harass an AI, or on capital ship level upgrades. What you can do if you really want a refinery anyway is build two Tradeports, and put one of them into refinery mode. In tha
We'll consider it, for a price... (Seriously though, I've had jokes get taken wrong too. Personally I thought it was funny. :) )
It shouldn't fire on random planets unless autocast is turned on. Make sure its off. Once it is, you can fire it at any planet you've explored by clicking the fire button, then clicking the planet to target.
When you first take a planet, its not developed. That means the population is low, and you suffer a tax penalty (because its underdeveloped), so you lose money on it. To fix that, click on the planet, then click the planetary upgrades button (its the first one). One of the upgrades is planet development. When finished, that gives the planet more population and reduces its tax penalty. Most planet types turn into a profit rather then a loss at two upgrades (asteroids at one, bec
So many times I've found myself saving to quit for the evening, and then having to save again 10-15 minutes later with the same intention.Rinse. Repeat.
Thats why I wish the game had a clock. "I'll play for 10 more minutes." *2 hours passes* "Five minutes to go, then I'm done!"
Too obvious, sorry.
yes! I hope they looked at our "What we want in the Exspansion" Thread
Since the article mentions a campaign mode, I think they did. :D
SO who's running Vista 64? Running any other games besides SINs?
WoW, Lord of the Rings Online, Portal, Audiosurf. All of them run well. The single biggest problem Vista had (aside from being a memory pig) was shoddy drivers (Nvidia accounted for 28% of ALL Vista crashes in 2007), but thats largely solved now for newer hardware. Honestly I'd never use Vista 32 for anything. If you want 32 bit, stick with XP. If you want 64 bit (because you have 4GB of RAM and wan
The Kostura Cannon really isn't as good as the Novalith Cannon, its main purpose is to disable stuff in orbit of a planet rather then damage the planet directly. Can be useful if you disable planetary defenses right before entering the system, but I wasn't overwhelmed by it (whereas the Novalith cannon is pretty awesome). Returning Armada on the other hand...
I have no love for Windows either, but I just don't think you're going to see an influx of games for Mac, especially from the smaller developers, anytime soon. If gaming's important to you, you have to go to where the games are.-HM
Unfortunately, if the idea of being able to game on your Mac without Windows is important to you, this is counter-productive. Mac users who complain but then buy the Windows version anyway don't really help their cause out, since to the game d
Embargo is an absolutely amazing ability and combines very well with a ship that can load itself to bear with bombers and blow up enemy resource extractors easily while leeching tax income. There you go again! "embargo", "leeching tax income" - are these described anywhere? I feel like I must be missing something here.
https://www.sinsofasolarempire.wikia.com/wiki/Embargo :) Embargo is a capital ship ability of the Sova Carrier. You use it on an enemy planet, and
Sins on my system (Core 2 Duo, 4GB RAM) runs awesome in Vista Home Premium 64 bit. I highly recommend against Vista unless you have at least 2GB of RAM. Its a bit of a memory pig. But if you have a system that can handle it, Sins will play just fine. :) (One thing: In Vista, Sins appears in the "Games Explorer", rather then in the "all programs" area of the Start Menu. I find its actually easier this way because all your games are together in there, but it can be confusing for
I think the goal is to slow the speed of colonization. They don't want you just spamming 5 colony ships early on, and running around taking all the best planets. I like to start with a heavy combat capital ship because they excel at dealing with these rebels (ships like the Kol), but then I only play single player. Ultimately you don't want to have your light frigates going up alone against rebel heavy cruisers if you can avoid it, so send your capital ship in first to draw fire. (The R
The internal conversation probably went something like this: We have X dollars to spend on Sins at this point. Making a Mac version will cost Y, and we think generate Z in sales. In order to make the business case, we need Z > Y, but we also need Z > some other use of X, such as building a campaign addon pack (which for $5 some percentage of Windows users may buy). Thats just the reality of a small developer/publisher, dealing with a successful niche game. Blizzard ga
People are interested in a campaign mode because there's a story to tell in this game, and who doesn't like a good story?
Its a bit confusing, because you actually don't have to do anything. If you have two systems linked by a stabalizer and you tell your ships to move from one to the other, what you'll actually see them do is move directly, as if a phase lane existed between the two systems. You don't need to tell your ships to move to the stabalizer or anything like that, the ships will use it automatically if you tell them to move between planets and the stabalizer is the fastest way to get there.

For some reason, he got repeatidly burned by games that refused to recognize he had the CD in the drive, when he actually did (seems to
