Update: I managed to get the TEC Civilian Research achievement on my fifth try by not researching anything at all outside the Civilian tech tree, not even Fleet Logistics. The point about different Victory options may be true. I haven't tested them - but the main problem still is, of course, that all achievements should work properly in a "regular" (i.e. all Victory options off) game too. My gut feeling is that the problem is somehow connected to the introduction of Steam.

How to reach the "Actually I can do it, HAL" achievement? in Sins of a Solar Empire Stardock Forums

Yesterday I finally managed to beat four Hard AI opponents, but to my surprise the "I can do it, HAL" achievement did not light up. What went wrong? Could it be because one of the opponents was given the final blow by another AI player instead of me? Or was it a mistake when I made a short-lived Peace agreement with one of the AI players early in the game?
