You learn the most playnig with/against others in a full MP game (i.e. no AI). However this can be brutal for people starting out. The biggest lesson I learned when I went to MP is that I played slow against the AI - you need to be quicker online. Turtling is no good as someone will buidl an empire 2x your size and then smash your defences. Entrenchment might change this some, but not vintage Sins (at least not 1.05..)

Well, I work up this morning (now 8.20am here), turned on my comp and downloaded the patch and left it while getting ready for work. One message saying a timeout had occured (that I saw), but it picked up again fine. Unfortunately I haven't run the game yet to see if it works (I am assuming so, but you know what they say...) - I have to work ALL day until I get home in about 9 and a bit hours :(
That was a good game - I enjoyed it - 2nd last on 1.05 (I patched this morning before work - now all I have to do is wait until I get home tonight to log in and try 1.1!!!)
1) Forget trying to build heaps of caps - they are not worth it due to the fact they spread out the experience. You only need a few. 2) Why are you against attacking via the pirate base? If his fleet is at the other choke point, go through it... 3) TEC have the best superweapon for breaking a stalemate - build 2-3 at least and fire all of them at a planet at once to kill it.. 4) Always try to get air superiority by having more fighters. Once his fighters are gone, so a
Asai - is this online or SP???
They have said that Entrenchment will be coming out AFTER the patch. They also said if you play a game against people without the expansion, you don't get the expansion functionality... So my question still stands - will upgrading to the beta mean there is less to update for 1.1 and therefore can someone download the beta now to shave time off of getting 1.1???
Dumn question - would upgrading to the beta ensure a quicker update to 1.1 due to some files already being updated???
I don't play multiplayer because all the games take like 8 freaking hours (atleast they do for me...) And 8 hours of continous playtime is just a bit excessive for my taste. Otherwise I would play this game online abunch more. (and it takes me 8 hours, and I have modded it to give all players rediculous amounts of resources per second[I get around 200 crystal a second, without refineries] so that the game starts off really fast too.)
Your multiplayer games ta
I have read through a EULA - as painful as it was. If there was a central online list of them, then you could look at it before you go to the store, or got a second hand copy. Someone could even put a link to the EULA on their ebay item so the person knew they couldn't play online etc... from the EULA... And of course, stores could have a console for people to read the EULA before they buy it..... It doesn't fix all the issues, but it would give you more options. And y
Ok so you're saying my post should have sounded like this: "sry dude, I got some good tricks that could help you, but they aren't viable in multiplayer (which you aren't doing but you could someday) so I won't post them" ? Now that would be helpful as s... . And your idea is no different from my first one, simply using another research that does the same.
I just pointed out that the idea cannot be used for MP as it stops EVERYONES game... And my id
Just watch out for anyone with a name starting with [DT] - they are hard core!!! :D (Except when I have to get them a win ;) )
I HOPE it is a midnight thing - since for us in Australia, it is already the 19th and I am hoping to download it when I get home :)
Speaking of ST, Has any one made a good ST mod. Sins w/ TNG skins would be the proverbial poo.
Well, Major Stress tried to do one.... :D
Sova rush isn't that great a strat unless on a REALLY small map. Subversion rushing is not possible due to the tech levels requried. They are effective once you get them though. Fighters stop illums...
No wonder Impulse had no updates for me :( One final game of 1.05
The pausing idea is only valid for SP. Doing that in MP would be considered poor form... (I know the OP said only playing AI at the moment, but people do move onto online play, sometime....). Another option for Vassari is to research the tech that allows extra units (lvl 7 iirc). But you need to queue the ships when this tech is researched before more RA ships fill it :)
So to put this whole debate to rest 1) Impulse needs to allow you to view the EULA before you buy the game online. 2) Stores need to have a way for the customers to read the EULA before they buy the game 3) Perhaps there needs to be a central EULA site that all software EULAs can be found at for just this reason... Hmm - these's an idea... Frogboy - contact me if you are interested in setting up this business idea with me :)
This could make things "interesting". I was under the impression they would charge when the beta started since I had pre-ordered. The issue I have is that I don't know when that will be, or when the bank will issue me the new cards and shift the balance etc.. over....
Make sure you don't have hidden folders turned on...
Stop arguing a point you cannot win. You accepted the EULA when you opened and installed the game. The EULA says you cannot transfer the licence, which is tied to an online account via a serial number. This cannot be transfered. So you got a copy of the game which is V1.0 and can be patched to V1.05 as this version had a standalone patch. Keeping with the car analogy - you buy a manual car but only have an auto licence. Whose fault is this since you are not allowed to legally drive it
I always quit, check out my stats and go looking for the next MP game :D
So people don't like the sound bytes then??? :)
This is going to sound dumb, but I NEED to know when my card will be charged. I am about to get rid of my old card and get a new joint one with my partner (just got a new house, so doing the whole joint accounts thing)... If it isn't charged in time, the card won't be valid!!!! And I don't want to miss out or lose my discount etc...
Had the same issue in 1.05 - had to turn it off as well. I hope the fix that Blair mentioned will also address the issue of repair bays not targetting damaged cap ships within range automatically. A number of times early in a game I have limped my egg back to a planet with repair bays and parked it within repair range and the repair turrets haven't done anything. I have to get them to work manually (select all, press tab and Q and click, tab, Q and click etc.... Pain in the
What do you think of when you hear a sound byte in game. I always think of the tower from Lord of the Rings when an Overseer is built (this eye never closes). And my fiancé hates me playing at night due to the "chirping" noise from the lobby (computer is in the bedroom until we move shortly....). She thinks it sounds like a frog or crickets (probably should pay a bit more attention when she is saying something like that...) Of course, none of the sound bytes in
