Power surges are unheard of where I live, and in severe storms I unplug it. Though, I do connect to the internet using a cable, so I guess the surge aspect is moot. The only problem I can think of is that unless you use an acid-based cleaner anyways, that lemonade could be causing unknown acidic damage to the plumbing. Bleach and whatnot is a strong base, but lemon juice is an acid.
