for mousepads you should just get a good cotton pad, they are better than hard plastic ones imo. when it comes to a mouse I prefer simple forms with 2 buttons + wheel + wheelbutton. All others are unnecessary fluff - mind you, thats from my RTS perspective as I almost exclusively play RTS. I prefer very light mice as your hands never get tired even if you play or work long with them and they allow for quicker reactions. I currently use a KTEC-6500 which weighs about 70 grams a

maybe the warpstone should be instant or nearly instant cast but make not instantely appear at the target but have you moving there as a ghosty, motionblurred shadow or something like that - could also suck as it might be too graphically confusing^^

1) I think capture time is fine maybe 2-3 more seconds but nothing dramatic. 2) normal spawn rate is fine but I think reinforcement hp should be a bit higher - not nearly as high as in high settings though just 20% to 30% (except for angels which should stay as they are) 3) Damage from Towers on normal setting is quite good I think but the towers should be a bit more sturdy from the beginning on, 20% to 30% as well I think.

for the most part I agree but a few things are rather bad Ideas I think. first of all : Netlag 350ms is on the one side to high and won't solve the underlying problem on the other hand. Its too high because there are skills which have a cast time of 500ms, now if you have a netlag of 200ms that gives you 300ms to react meaning you can use items with instant cast, if we have a netlag of 350ms leaving you with 150ms to react its nearly impossible for most players to do t

I just stated facts, I didn't blame anyone for it (and I don't think there is anyone to blame at all) and you are just projecting things on me. Secondly, calling Mexico very very poor is a incredible overexaggeration, they have a GDP per capita of nearly 10000 $ that is more than some of the new members of the EU. (I also don't see what a topic about an occupied territory has anything to do with Mexico). Extreme problem to US security is also kind of fearmongering, its a rather

having to pay money for skills wouldn't work very well, but I can see it a cool mechanic for one or a few active items. That item would have a rather low buying cost but each use costs money so you have to carefully think about using it. Of course it still would have a cooldown. Blizzard is currently experimenting with exactly that mechanic with the spells of the nighthawk (sort of the science vessel of Starcraft II).

Berlin wasn't really occupied after '49. Yah it had a special status until 1990 but after 1971 (Berlinabkommen + Transitabkommen) it belonged de facto to the Federal Republic of Germany. And the "hostile" country was a country of german people of the who didn't want anything more than to live on the other side of the wall and those were the real occupied ones - not West-Berlin. The Wall was to avoid people getting inside into your area not to keep you out, thats a very big difference.

actually there is some last hit game mechanics in demigod already for situations where they are really good suited, but most people fail to see them ;) One of oaks skills is triggered only if he kills a unit (the one which heals you and allies a bit not sure about its name) You get the money/xp for last hits even when you are out of the normal bounty/xp range (can happen with damage over time skills, or mines and snipe) I think there was a few more subtle ones

knowing that there is a terrain deformation mod for supcom which alters the altitude values of the heightmap, I am pretty sure it could be done theoretically in Demigod (in demigod the heightmap only has 2 values : either its void space or its "walkable"). The Maps in Demigod are actually 3d-meshes like the buildings and units are so it should not be that much of a problem to do it. When I say that it shouldn't be that hard I speak from the perspective of custom made maps where it is to

yah sure Bryce is easier than Terragen but you can do some awesome stuff in Terragen if you are willing to spend a lot time on it. Vue is nice (have the educational version of vue 6 infinite) but you need a lot time to figure out what to not do to prevent frequent crashes. It is surely easier to understand than Terragen though.

if you don't use it commercially the Terragen 2 Tech Preview (its in Tech Preview Status which is somewhat similar to beta for 2 years now I think) is free to use. Restrictions are max resolution of 800x600 and some other things but it is not watermarked. The Downside of Terragen 2 is that it is rather unintuitive to use and that it is really slow but it can produce very nice landscapes.

Ragarth, its 200ms in demigod by default - supcom had 500ms (which allows playing with everyone on the world without stuttering so it is a okay setting for a macro rts especially as it can be changed) and yes people really change it. Warcraft III battle.net defaults at 250ms lag so Demigod has a rather low default value.
Long time no chat, Jinx . Your comments about the SupCom engine hit the nail on the head for me, that was actually one of the main reasons I never liked SupCom. I believe that the main culprit was the enforced 500ms latency in SupCom though...and I know for a fact that this "enforced" latency is much reduced in Demigod... So I am not sure how much of a problem that will be.
enforced is the wrong word in I think, you can easily change it via console and most good players

you can disable the use of favour items in the game options, but given that it only takes a few games (at least currently) to get the favour items you need it isn't even really needed to disable them for competitive game. Right now they are similar to the 10 melee games you needed to win before you can play ladder in starcraft more or less. Their Tournament system will also very likely match up even players so it is not much of an issue at all I think. I trust them in not messing it u

you should also never forget that it is very well possible to add a bit more depth and skillful skills after the game has been released and the reviewers wrote their articles and everyone got used a bit to demigod already.

212 Replies 409,320 Views

actually demigods doesn't need any open ports, thats the clue (and also the reason why it currently works not perfectly as it is still in development, if they had taken the same approach as they did with supcom, you'd just have to open a port and it would work in most situations)

2vs1 and other uneven matchups might be nice additions but the main focus should lie on even teams in my opinion and for uneven teams you could always have the good old handicap setting which makes it possible to play with uneven teams (be it numberwise or skillwise).
One of the ideas we've played around with is that the money generated from mines (your "free" income) is shared amongst the team. So while a bigger team woudl have some natural advantages over a small team in te
