Well, I threw in my 2000 cents. I think I still had a couple of months left, but I figured I'd do my part now. My career makes me spend a lot of time in front of my computer--you guys help make that time both more productive and more enjoyable.

The transparency does not seem to work either. With your problems, the workaround is to just take the extra step of clicking the icon of the left of the window and choosing your desired operation--at least that works with the Rusty Rooster skin on my system. Hopefully, the developers will be able to fix these problems, but there may very well be something funky about Access that won't make it possible.
Try hitting "winkey+m" instead. I don't use IconX (I have no icons on my desktop) so I can't check for myself. BTW, "shift+windowskey+m" will bring your windows back. These key combinations actually minimize all windows, instead of just placing a picture of the desktop over what you have open. Hopefully, using this shortcut will work for you.
The second beta installed well and works flawlessly (the speed is amazing). I have found three little problems (not really bugs, but programs that skinned fine with 4.6 but now have problems). First, Access 2003 doesn't support transparency (it skins, but without the transparent part). This isn't surprising, since it didn't work right with fx before. Winzip (both 9 and the 10 beta) skin well enough, but will not perform extractions (when I excluded it,
It installed and works well on my system. So far, I've had two issues. First, logonstudio stopped working. That's easy enough--I just set it to the default Windows login. The other problem is that MS Access (2003) doesn't work with any of the transparency effects (neither the glass effects like in Aura or the transparency in the other two included skins). Other than that, it works very well and looks great.
Start by getting your hands on SysStats, available at this link: Link Once you get it configured, check out the digital clock included, and then you can do a search for SysStats on the ObjectDock page and various other possible clocks and other objects will come up. Hope this helps.
I'm white, my wife is black, out son is somewhere in between, and our SSN's disprove the tin-foil hat theory. Plus, my mom and myself have the same, and my sister and dad have the same--so if there is an identification system, then it really sucks. I have another conspiracy theory: the feds as dating service (and a good one at that). My wife and I have very similar SSN's, and we've been happily married for several years now. Obviously, Uncl
You can do what you want to do with either DesktopX or ObjectDock+ (pay version), or really even ObjectBar or Right Click. With DesktopX, you can have your shortcut dock come up in response to whatever hot-key you define.
I'm looking for a program or few that will help me multi-task better. I don't find the sort of standard virtual desktop programs sufficient. I would like to be able to arrange windows easily, perhaps by using hotkeys and rules (for example, program A always takes up the left side of the screen, program B takes up the top 1/3 of the right side of the screen, etc.). I'd also like to be able to easily exclude programs that are just sort of running in the
I like Napster to go, at $15 a month. When I was using iTunes, I was spending about $23 a month on music. I've cut that considerably, and am able to keep everything synched on the MP3 player of my choice. I find that my musical choices are for the most part quite transient, and those selections that hold my prolonged interest are already in my permanent collection (the "classics", so to speak). So a subscription service makes a lot of sense for me. The
I'm an academic, so I write all the time. I work on the intersection of logic and ethics. I scan all of my research (that doesn't start out electronic), then do all of the reading, highlighting, outlining, pre-writing, and composition on the computer (using Acrobat Pro, OneNote, and finally word). Then I create a pdf and submit. The only time I seem to use a pen and paper is if I feel like drawing a diagram of the argument--drawing connections and so f
I'm at work and don't have rainlendar here, but I believe your problem is fixed if you set the level to desktop--that way it will still be showing when you show desktop. Before you try that, try using the shortcut key "windows+m" and see if it works that way (that key just minimizes all the windows). Forgive me if you already use that method, but a lot of people use the "windows+d" combo or its shortcut.
Right-click on an empty space on your dock, and select "dock settings". Then go to the "general tab" and select "advanced options". Then just de-select "when shortcut is run, if program is already running bring it to the foreground only". Then restart ObjectDock and it should open as many instances of whatever program that you want.
I don't know why this happens, but if you click on one of the effected icons and hold the mouse button down, it seems to bring it back to normal--even when they are all behind the background like that.
I am excited about the 'virtual folders' ability included in the first beta release of Vista. While I keep my files quite organized (C partition for Windows, D for programs, E for documents and research, and F for pictures and music), some sort of balance between organization and accessibility has to be reached. What I'm wondering is if there already exists an application that allows the user to easily enter meta data that is then used to group files t
I used Vonage for 6 months or so and it was great. I'm now using Lingo because of their better international plans, and am very happy with them as well. I've not had a 'normal' phone for more than a year. The sound quality is great, the reliability as good as my internet connection, and the extra features are outstanding--all for a fraction of the price traditional telcoms want.
I want to get rid of the toolbars in Office apps and a couple other programs. I generally just use shortcut keys and like a less cluttered interface. What I would really like to do is to make a tab or two in Object Dock Plus that I can assign to act like the shortcut keys--i.e., a "new page", "print", whatever command that will perform the equivalent "ctrl-p" or whatever in the app being used. I don't always like to use the keyboard shortcuts, so it wo
You can burn the tracks (as audio cd's) and then rip them as MP3's--that'll work with any mp3 player. Otherwise, you are pretty much stuck with Apple products. The services that use WMA formats work on a wider range of devices.
Windows-key+M will minimize all of your windows and get you what you want.
Which widgets? I use widgets all the time and have had no problems at all. Norton has messed my computer up a couple times, but never anything related to Desktop X (or wincustomize in general).
It should work with the system tray dock. I have the same issue with outlook by trying to use the shortcut to bring it back up, with object dock set to focus on item when already open. But when I click on the icon in the system tray dock, it comes up fine. Just tried with winamp, same thing. Maybe someone will be willing to work on a docklet to bring trillian up from system tray--I would try, but don't have trillian or time.
I use McAfee (because we have a site license) and have no problems.
Hapkiko, You should just be able to click or right click on the location name of the weather object and an enter location or zip code dialog will come up--place it there. If you have trouble with the code, try using whatever comes up at weather.com as that is the site used by most of the weather objects.
It happens to me as well. I just have to restart and its back to normal. Seems to happen with IE most frequently for me.
