How many more of EA's games have online activations and limited installs in the retail boxes.... almost none. They took an entirely different approach after that with Sims 3, DA and Mass Effect 2.
I tend to agree. If Ubisoft really wanted ou
Imperium nailed it on the second post; play private games with people you trust. There's no ladder in Sins, and the stat tracking is irrelevant since everyone has 7 smurf accounts. Why even play public games at this point, when even long time veterens are sick of it? Why play against strangers? Because sometimes you might want to play the game when your friends aren't around. Sometimes you want to play when you're ava
Like lich pointed out, it would be broken as hell. There's a good reason why starbases aren't allowed to have full weapons, hull, and special abilities. I mean, an Advent base with maxed weapons, hull, fighters, disorient, and meteors? [e digicons]8C[/e]
I know. I have no faith any changes will be made either based on this thread or the other civilian thread either. It's just an interesting discussion as this research makes it more difficult in the suicide spot to protect your planet. There is no issue outside of that. Thus why I suggested maybe it's time to make a balance mod, seeing as IC missed the window for major changes with Diplomacy. In fairness, they did at least improve all the artifacts
This is an extremely useful reference and should probably be stickied. Some massive buffs to some of the worst artifacts. I wouldn't feel bad about finding any of these now.
Get Bullfrog's old stuff! I'd love to see Syndicate and Dungeon Keeper again.
Kinetic Intensifier is now +15% weapon damage and +10% weapon range.
Well, the relationship system and AI missions were a decent and needed addition to the game as nobody played unlocked team games pre-Diplomacy. The pacts also made civilian tech worthwhile again, seeing as Entrenchment skewed things towards military. The rest I will agree was not though out very well. Envoys are just something you build and forget about, the pirates just got raw stat buffs rather than make them more interesting, and pretty much everyone agrees the diplomatic
To add the post Tiberius made, the Jump Drive Relic now gives a 10% mass decrease in Diplomacy.
If they're upfront about it, I don't see the problem. They shouldn't be denied income simply because Ubisoft went crazy.
I've seen this happen in locked team games as well. The AI shouldn't send envoys unless you have a Cease Fire treaty with them. Why are they trying to build relations with someone shooting down their ships?
I having played with diplomatic Victory seems to be desinged purely for Human vs. Human (No AI) games
I tend to agree with this. The AI doesn't appear to recongnize that the player is 20 points away from a Diplomatic Victory win, and will simply lose rather than declare war and try to stop you. While this behavior would make sense in a campaign, a skirmish is a multiplayer simulator; the AIs are supposed to be playing to
The AI does read what you're building and try to build a counter-fleet now. I had a fleet of HCs, flak and support one game. Sent a scout to see what the AI nearest to me had, and it had a fleet of all LFs and carriers. So they DO at least try to adapt to a player massing one or two unit types now. They also have a much higher tolerance for retreating now, and won't flee just because you have 10% more ships than them now. I'm surprised no one ever made an AI mo
Except the game isn't going to die beacuse 100 or so ICO players leave. It's really funny the ICO community thinks the game will die without them, but the other 100,000+ people who bought Sins are just fine with single player and TCP/IP . Yes, that other multiplayer option that hasn't desynched or minidumped on me in over 30 games. I regularly play multiplayer games with 3 friends without having to deal with the ICO smurfs, trolls and inflexability (Car
Actually, with Diplomacy we have have the new king of terrible upgrades, the techs that remove the racial diplomatic penalty. It's tier seven , and all it does is remove the -1/-2 racial penalty in the relationship screen. No really, that's it. This one desperately needs to do more. I don't see why it shouldn't also remove the diplomatic inclination penalties too. That would at least be giving you a chance to boost relations by 3-4 points, which could be
The Advent AI is still worthless due to the homing mine issue, and Visari still doesn't know what to do about a starbase. TEC and Visari put up a lot more of fight mid-late game now though thanks to teching better, but in general you still have to put the AIs on a cheating difficultly to get any challenge out of them.
The problem is, if you do nothing the AI will put bounty on you. Before it was possible for the AI to start with putting bounty on anothe AI, and you could sit that raid out. Now you always have to bid, or the AIs will send a neverending stream of pirates at your for 250 credits a raid. While it's not too bad with 3 or 4 players, in a game with 7 AIs it becomes completely stupid that the AIs will but bounty on you on the other end of the galaxy, rather than their neighbors.<
The problem with the tech trees has always been that cost is fixed with tier placement. A handful of upgrades break this mould (starbase trade ports and culture nodes), but most have not been touched since the game has first released. For example, the wave cannons being high tier are fine since there's no reason to get them before heavy cruisers anyhow. The problem is that they cost more than any other family of weapon upgrades because of their placement, yet the benefit is

And the predictable end to Ubisoft's brilliant DRM scheme. http://www.infoaddict.com/ubisofts-new-drm-cracked-in-under-25-hours So your DRM didn't stop the pirates, and you're going to lose tons of sales from legitimate customers with this draconion DRM scheme. Don't let the door hit you on the way out of the PC game industry Ubisoft.
This was reported as a bug back in the beta. The recent patch might have reverted whatever fixes they made to it.
These aren't multiplayer issues, but still bugs that need attention. -AI players are not putting bounty on other AI players. Always target the human player, which is probably a large part of the reason so many new players are finding Trinity/Diplomacy so frusterating. -Pirates will never leave a sector if mines remain. -AI players still not using pirate missions despite 1.01 claiming otherwise.
I totally agree with SwerydAss. I was going to adress exactly the same issue. so here is my opionion: I would have appreciated the devs to add an "accept"-button, rather than "reject". I end up rejecting far more missions for I probably am a more defensive player. Having to reject EVERY mission you don't want to take on is really annoying as they come in constantly EVERY 5 minutes from EVERY AI-player. As a result you loose
We should send Chris a bottle of Jack Daniels and a little silver trophy with "Nice Try" engraved. We should send him a screenshot of Total Annihilation with the caption, "If you want another hit RTS, remake this with modern graphics and multiplayer matchmaking."
