there are 2 answers to this. In crusade the tech trees are based upon racial abilities (slaver, synthetic, etc). In the 2.5 base game there's a bug and tech trees are kind of broken at the moment, but I believe they will also be based upon abilities too.. hope this helps..
I am sick to death of the mentality humans are unique to having thoughts or feelings beyond "Kill. Eat. Sleep. Repeat."
Good post. This was not the main thrust of my argument (if this comment was directed toward my post), I'm sorry if it was construed that way. It was more along the lines of dogs live in complex human societies, and have lineages from complex animal 'societies'. </p
I have just sprung big bucks for an Intel i9 with a Gigabyte x299 gaming 9 motherboard, 64 GB of 2666Mhz RAM, 2 Samsung 960 Pro 1 TB SSD's (in RAID 0, for a 2TB drive at twice the speed, and in M.2 slots, a newish higher speed bus), and an adequate graphics card (GTX 1050). It will be used for a DAW (digital audio workstation). 64GB of RAM is insane unless you work with high resolution audio (or video, especially). For example, one of my p

As an aside, in the 2+ years it'll realistically be before I'm looking at rebuilding a machine, it'll be interesting to see if the middle of the market (ie middle of the performance gaming market) moves to >4 core chips. If, say, the equivalent to the 7790k (or *cough* 4790k) in market positioning terms are 6 or 8 physical core chips if there are insane i9 monsters with 16 cores on the top end.. It would be interesting to know the business model for selling these kinds

I had posted somewhere a vague idea of Ideology choice modifications. One way to hard-crimp the rush would be a 'sue for peace' ideology choice that stops war (all war or only one civ?) for X turns. Just a thought. Off the cuff, it just popped into my head that perhaps /losing/ a planet should generate something - an ideology choice, or the flight of resources from that planet to the homeworld or the like. This would make turning an early rush int

So... I'll be the first to say that I'm not a dog-ologist (I think is the term for someone specializing in canines) but I'll throw in my $0.02 Dogs are something like 98% wolf. The vast majority of the remaining 2% difference is a UI to interact with humans. Of the 98% that are ~wild/wolf, canine society is hierarchical with the lower status animals yielding to the whims of their superiors. But pack dynamics are give-and-take with different things being impor

you might be able to if your espionage level against that race is high enough, otherwise you can't. I believe this is intentional so that planet defense has the edge. I could be wrong on these points but this is how planet defense has tended to be in my games. you'll still get the "defeat likely", "victory certain" etc if you click on it. Also if you zoom in, you can at least eyeball the type/size of ships flying around the planet..

I don't think so. Minors are in the process of being removed entirely. What you're experiencing is from their half-removed-ness... You could research the benevolent ideology that ends wars (IIRC one exists) or hope for a UP 'end all wars' resolution.. hope this helps, -tid242

A quick question on Technology Victory.. For those that have played on the more insane-side-of-the-spectrum map sizes. How is the 'technology victory condition' work out for you guys? Can you even conquer the galaxy before someone somewhere completes the tech vic path? Does is scale with galaxy size? I've been playing on the more medium-sized galaxy sizes and it's never an issue, but was curious how it worked on the super-big ones..
Well, maybe I can only speak for myself on this one, but... I never knowingly buy a 1/2 finished game. Do half-finished games sell a lot of copies? - sure, but did most people think they were buying a half-finished, or game that's unplayable during the end-game? I would guess not.

Case in point (not to beat a dead horse): Per the devs, Introversion's new game 'Scanner Sombre' (http://www.introversion.co.uk/scannersombre/ ) sold a total of 5 (five) copies thus far. It came out a month or two ago (not really sure, I wasn't one of the five customers, apparently so I don't remember the launch date).. Also, some mea culpas about messing up the tablet launch
