AFAIK, any ship with more than one firing bank can target the same target with two banks at once if the target is at an angle between the two banks. at least aesthetically this happens and i assume the Dunov does this as well. could it be that you are simply noticing an abnormally large amount of DPS because the target is being hit by the cannon and the lasers and the missiles all together as the Dunov and/or the target moves/turns?

i like to make my own 'randoms' with the map editor thing. that way its still random and unpredictable to an extent, and i can explore, but still have a rough idea of what i'm dealing with. that way i don't get an hour or two into a game and realize i really hate the map
So what is everybody's favorite ships? (to use and to look at) My favorite to use would probably be the Subverter. i love the disable. my favorite to look at would have to be the lasurak transporter. i don't know why but there is something attractive about a hollow, flying beetle.
So, uh . . . what do you do when the massed fighters and bombers show up?
cry and start a new game :)
okay, so i DO understand how shield mitigation works, my question is why is it there and what is it supposed to represent? like, if you were to apply it to a "real life" battle, why is it that shields reduce damage MORE as they are weakened? sorry if this post doesn't belong in the 'strategy' forums... :(
vasari is my worst race, so ignore everything i say, but the Subverter is my favorite non-cap ship, and the lasurak is my favorite LOOKING non-cap ship, so i would recommend 50% subverters and 50% lasuraks. at least it will look sweet and hell if you can disable their whole fleet then a swarm of carriers isn't so bad :)
