Oh -*THAT's* useful to know - I've been obsessively tweaking locations for constructors on the assumption that I *had* to be more than halfway inside the line for my system to get the starbase benefits. Jonnan

I like the starbases screen - Another thing *I* would like with starbases is that (And maybe this is just my desire to Roleplay) I think starbases should have the 'waypoint' marker toggle-able from the starbase screen - if you're working on a starbase or need to make a fleet point, it only makes sense to me that the starbase is the place to go. And I still would love to see Waypoints made into better management tools, just in general - Any mission you can assign a ship to do should be

An 'Activist Judge' that notes that the constitution prevents a law from being legal *isn't* an activist judge. The term gets thrown around a lot, it typically means exactly that though - the judge found a constitutional argument *I* disagree with. That's not the case here - the judge is ignoring the plain text reading of the UCC which all the states in the district have signed on to, *and* ignoring the plain text reading of the copyright act, and is not overturning them based on the a
wrong on two counts. well, maybe. dunno if you live in the US, if so then your gas tax isn't being set aside to fix roads. the federal tax goes to the general fund where it can be spent on silly things like $10,000 toilets and laws prohibiting incandescent light bulbs.
It's like the argument that eliminating the gas tax will lower gas prices - if the market price is 4.10/gal, then eliminating the gas tax just means that money goes straight to the gas station instead of being set aside to fix roads - the supply and demand have not changed, so, *by definition*, the market price has not changed.

wrong on two counts. well, maybe. dunno if you live in the US, if so then your gas tax isn't being set aside to fix roads. the federal tax
There seems to be some weird thing in this thread that the law here is somehow complex and esoteric, and god knows sometimes it is, but on *this*, it is written here as plain as day.

It IS as plain as day, but you somehow got it wrong anyway. Good job. Actually - It seems to me that what is needed is the ability for the AI to calculate relative values down that tech trading path. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like the AI value tech in a sort of 'absolute' way - i.e. Phaser II is valued equally whether it's a step away, or if the AI has not researched beam weapons at all - it's either worth it to trade X for Y or it's not. Something where the AI valued branches of technology, and multiplied that by how much research it

Oh - UI improvement please - If I have the colonies sorted in a specific order on the colonies screen, click a colony, work on it, and then clink the next or previous colony button, it should go to the next colony in the order I sorted it in. I'm not quite sure what it does now - maybe the date of first colonization, but it is really annoying that when I have it sorted in a specific order, that has no effect on the order you go through the colonies in. Maybe change the ascension victory, make it so that if you wind up controlling a certain percentage of these for some time, you suddenly discover the difference between them and your own race (ascension victory).
Who gives a toss about 'legal basis for suing' other than armchair theorists and mass debaters?
Well, *I* do - because I think this is a bad decision that's going to end up biting consumers in the backside. It took *work* for the judge to misinterpret the law this badly, and that, to me, indicates there is an ideological thing going on beneath the surface somewhere. When Ideologues are sure they're not doing anything wrong, they tend to be open about what they're
All this debate and hypothesis is cute...as the Law [as always] tries to catch up with 'real life'. The 'Law isn't an ass'...it's simply not up to date. May be my relatively wimpy setup, but it seems to kick in the instant I add life support to a design, at least some days. Given that I pretty much stay at icon level just because the machine is old, it's a minor irritant rather than a major issue, but it would be neat if fixable too. I'm on older ATI Drivers because there seems to be an issue with everything after a certain point that they have chosen not to fix. Jonnan
Debug Message: Version v1.96 Twi
