Not terribly likely to be Sins' fault. I haven't heard of problems with those components. Look around for reports on the manufacturer and the model you have. Make sure your laptop is always well-ventilated. Especially when doing something that will stress it. Don't overclock it, either.

Wide, short button on the bottom in the middle of the bottom bar. It scuttles ships/structures/planets. Takes a few seconds and you receive a notification of how long it will take.
What language are you running the game? You may need to rename the english.str file to the language you are running.
