mooey, i don't really think your idea would work - the player that captures it would essentially win the game against assassins - their units are limited and uncontrollable, as such the special units would unbalance the fight, making the other player fight a losing battle against a demigod just as powerful as them (as assassin) with a bigger army. your opponent would have to suck for you to win...as an assassin, you wouldn't be able to mob the capture point (due to having no control over
Especially since release will have 12 and if a game is 5v5 people I could see getting frustrated never being able to get a hero they want.
eh..? where did this 12 at release come from? Unless I missed a huge thread, then GPG has neither confirmed nor denied the # of heroes at Release.
PC.. You mean you can play FPS's on a console?
Yes and no. Brn summed it nicely, I've never had such a hard time sniping (usually play PC FPS). Aiming is more difficult, but you get used to it. FYI, autoaim is off, you've actually got to wiggle your joystick to get the sights centered. And yes, I'd say the majority of players spray and pray. S&D is a different story, though. As far as running slower, console games should run at a 60 FPS standard. The PS3 has no

hmm, is this COD4 on the PC, Xbox, or PS3? And yes, I believe that does make a difference. In any case, I'm duly impress if on shipment you've gone 100 and 5. With the map being so small, 12 people running around with matrydom and X3 grenades (half on your team), if nothing else, its difficult to die less then 10 times in that match not to mention netting over 100 kills. Note: the helicopter kill will count towards UAV/airstrike/another he

Agreed, Demigod is not DOTA, but its a good place to start. If the mechanics were copied straight from DOTA, then the result would be very similar if not the same. We all know that that won't be the case. As it is, we know very little about the game mechanics, specifically teleporting, so the entire thread is speculation. With that said, I look to DOTA for examples of tried and tested teleporting balance. Over the course of several years, teleporting to DOTA has evolved into

gay used to mean happy, don't hear that anymore (unless you watch the occasional "leave it to beaver"). Unfortunately in my experience Noob/newb has nearly always been used to insult. Course, I mostly only hear it with the DOTA community which may be why. Honestly, don't hear newbie too much and I agree, its more suited for describing a new player descriptor of a new player (then newb/noob).

Trying to break down the difference between newb/noob is pointless. Newb, Noob, New player, whatever it doesn't matter. Its only meant as an insult to that player, to put him down, his skill, and to infuriate him. Pretty it up however you want, calling a person a newb/noob is no different than any other name-calling. Newb/Noob - an insult used in gaming that calls in question a persons skill. Typically used to infuriate the other player. Other uses include labeling your teammates
I'll agree though, giving a bonus to someone who is winning is BAD. It's the "snowball effect" i've mentioned in another thread. As the snowball gets bigger it's rate of growth increases even more. This is bad for games. Someone who can get 15 kills with out dying, or get 3 kills within 30 seconds, does NOT need further help with killing people.
Unreal Tournament's strategic points. As you capture more, you spawn closer to the enemies base. You also get access to mo

Blink (short range instant teleport) is a nice skill in DOTA. Unfortunately its seen as too IMBA and has been limited to just a few heroes (magina, akasha). Blink strike (must target a unit within range) is much more limited and thus easier balanced. Instant teleport to base would be like a 1-way unlimited range blink. IMBA. Casting time, interruptable, and cooldown should balance it though.

There will hopefully always be players that are new to the game. In addition there will always be a segment of players that maybe aren't that good. There will unfortunately always be idiots/jerks that whine, complain, troll, flame, rant, rave, you name it, that play the game too. Sometimes these guys are persistent and loud. Sometimes they are excellent players. Sometimes they completely suck. Anonymity makes them bold and gives them power. Good developers should

I can't understand why it can be a mix of most everything that everyone has posted. Not going out on a limb here, but using DOTA as an example, there are spells that are simply activated (rot, invoker, luna's ult, CM's ult), clicked then target selected (multitude of these, any direct damage spell that has to have a unit to select), clicked then area or target selected (hook, AOE stuns, AOE effects, blink). Each of these have a use. It doesn't take alot of skill to activate a

The goal would be that any Demigod would be evenly balanced against any other demigod in a 1v1 game. Not 1v1 dueling on the arena floor necessarily, but that each demigod has an even chance at winning the game. Remember the objective of the match is not to kill the opposing demigods (though that is fun and is an essential part) but to destroy the main castle/base. Regardless of what state the game is in currently (we've heard lines may be blurred between general/assassin, frankly we
and to make it even more appealing, "god-like" would fit in with the game's storylineLMAO!Damn why didn't I think of that?!But I think ripping off UT's announcer would be baddd. Tons of mods for games, and wc3 maps, and other thigns incorporate a straight rip of the UT announcer. It's a GREAT voice. They're GREAT "taunts".But they're for UT..But a Godlike would be nice still when you go on a killing spree. Most of the time when creep blocking happened in my games, the # of units in the map would slow the game to a crawl. Having several hundreds of creeps trying to path find their way down a crowded path was a nightmare. Of course, if your team had akasha, death prophet, lina, or even the old void, the AOE would clean up the creeps nicely and net a ton of gold/exp. In other words, creep blocking only worked about half the time (when the game didn't crash).

Green mages... man I hated these guys. Why sacrifice a slot in your party for a status effect that 95% of the time, the target didn't live long enough to make said status worth casting. In any case, Demigod will be a different game and I see status effects as a viable strategy. I'm not sure if making certain demigods status effect only unless they can be viable in a 1v1. In other words, if a Demigod is vying for ascension but is only good at helping/hampering other demi's, the

Hmm... seems that work was getting to me in that last post of mine. Sorry if I came off a little harsh. All I've been trying to say is that the reward is a nice mechanic in DOTA that I would like to see in Demigod. Obviously it shouldn't make or break the game with whether you go random or not.
