Reply to Groupy Reinstall - where's the file in Stardock Software Stardock Forums

Thanks; in-between my post and your reply, a reboot and a restart of Desktop Objects went to an install screen, where Groupy was reported as able to be installed. That worked; now I jus t have torecover the key and we're good to go. I used W10's own install/uninstall to remove Groupy, since the service wasn't starting anyway. So far it seems to have healed. Thanks for the fast reply! So while anyone is reading this far, here's a quick question:

General comment to gamers in Star Control StarControl Forums

Noticed that Ashampoo products are now available here - HIGHLY recommend them, I've used them for over a decade, they are top notch, especially WinOptimizer 16 Snap 10, but any version! RE: older games - Between Steam sales and Origin Access there's hardly a game you can't find, and if you can't there's the sites that still support really old games (at my age, GalCiv 2 is a "recent" game!) for free with DOS simulators, etc. If it's on Steam and you want it, add to your favorites and like magic it will go on sale for you. I suspect the video card not the cpu 60 Celsius is nothing, 140 F. Can you display a util for the card's performance and watch its temp? May have an unstable/marginal chip on the board.

Thanks; having looked into indexing some more, I'm now more confused than ever; for every "you should index" there is a "don't do it" reply; even the physical setup makes a difference, SSD (don't! they say) vs SATA vs HDD, vs size/speed of cores... I read about people not seeing files, only seeing files after a particular date, slowness issues, but I couldn't find the default indexing settings for W10. RESOLVED! ISSUE: Missing image files in proper directory/format. CAUSE: Indexing turned off on target drive (C:) ! After this problem, I had a further issue with another program; in resolving that I deleted it; that led to issues; long-story-short, I lost a dual boot system and now have a normal one OS boot system. I did a test tonite with crazy results. I made six files, 5 jpgs 1 png (a save-as of the 5th jpg). 1. simple 800x600 text copied and pasted onto a 1680x1050 black background (single layer) saved as jpg; not seen. 2. same file then added 4 layers, then flattened. Not seen. 3. Same file with many effects applied. Not seen. 4 Created new 800x600 copy/pasted to same format size. Not seen - now it gets weird: 5. same file added a drawn "X" saved. SEE

I had a thought and used W10pro's personalization to set the wallpaper to one of the missing images. DS then saw that image - wait - Then I used W10 to select a similar image from the other directory. DS did not see the 2nd selection; it still saw the first one I set with W10 (no longer active), but not the current ACTIVE wallpaper! So now I'm really confused. [e digicons]:S[/e]

I created a new folder on Drive F, internal HDD and one on Drive G, Internal HDD both SATA2. (to prove what I was seeing was real) I created several files with a standard format 0f 1680x1050 in .jpg, using PAINT.NET These images were all of the same base image. I then manipulated parts of the image, color, sharpness, resized parts, flattened and saved them under a new name. Each change was saved under a new title. All are in the same directory. DS only sees 10

I have the same issue. I uninstalled, went to web, dl's the latest, reinstalled and still get the update available message, it seems to do something, but then on reboot it wants to install itself all over again, leading me to believe it didn't/can't work. Help?

Afterthought: When 3 monitors with different images all suddenly had the same image, I started this post. There were good responses, and thanks for the interest. So far a clean reinstall is working well. Here's something that I may have done that was not reported before: I may have moved/deleted a 'registered' folder with DS. Update: Today I re-installed DeskScapes. W10 has once again changed its mind about my monitors w-10 = 1-3-2 (nVidia agrees) and DS says 321. I was able to select and apply a wallpaper to each monitor. I'll monitor it to see if it changes and report back. It definitely worked before the major W10 update; definitely stopped after the update. Hope that it doesn't happen again and you can find the cause. Let's hope it works.

NOW even worse; I swapped video ports and reset some W10 settings to basics, rebooted. Now DeskScapes has Zero control. It cannot even set all to 1 picture or even any to any picture. It's totally defunct...

nope, just an off the shelf version 1607 os build 14393.187 W10 pro. nVidia 970 and 2 hdmi and 1 DVI 1680x1050 monitors on a AMD Phenom II 8 core with 20 GB RAM, tons of storage.

ALSO noticed that W10 NOW thinks that my base monitor is #2!! Also, the taskbar icons on 1 are inoperative. I think this is more a W10 issue, but Deskscape needs to rebuild to function in this new OS! Also my login screens were changed, and W10 ADDED a screensaver "Windows 10" without asking! M$ bullies are screwing with this program.

I also just noticed that W10 switched my monitors: used to be 3-2-1 now is 2-3-1, and nVidia desktop also switched itself to the new config. So maybe Deskscapes is seeing the old way and not the new way/order! Ha - new world order according to M$! :)

Since the big W10 annual 'gift' update I cannot display different images on my 3 monitors. This was a rare occasional problem before, however a new build and install made it mostly go away. Now when I click apply to Monitor 2 Nothing happens. Nothing. Any ideas? Anyone else have this error?

I run three monitors on a GTX 960 w/ an AMD 8core CPU and 20 GB of RAM. I cannot get ANY screensaver to display correctly. I get the saver only on the first monitor; the second monitor has nothing, the third has a 75% coverage. It totally sucks.
