As it stands the game still requires 3D rendering I don't think a netbook can really handle anyway, right? So not just UI, but other things I imagine will need to be adjusted for a super low-requirement cloth-map only mode.

To elaborate on what Vieuxchat is saying. You have a limited number of "tiles" that you can put buildings on. Once you place a building on a tile, that tile is developed. You can fill that tile (i.e adjacent buildings) but you can't actually open up another tile unless you have the room. So basically... if you can't build more titles... wait a few turns for your town to "upgrade" and you'll be able to build anywhere again.

are we talking about the opening video or the main menu? (or the screen before the video that says This is a beta?) having hit "print screens" on all of the opening screens, I can say with certainty I don't have this problem. The 1st screen you see (might as well be a splash screen) just renders a blank black screenshot, the movie seems to work just fine (and screenshots just fine, I should actually have a wall paper related to this soon) and the main

I was playing around with it just now, and I noticed to failure to produce fog of war. I have not been able to approch a city and get far enough way to see if it fails to do so on the first turn, but I'm sure the capturing of cities will be ironed out. Edit: I managed to reproduce it. Great screenshot +1

as a guy who feels the need to embrace the future, I'd want AAC file support. Last I checked the DRM free files from itunes were aac files rather than MP3s, not to mention the higher quality and no limit to stereo. (I'm looking forward to the day I get my techno music in true 4+ channels) I'm down with jazz, but I think the music fits well enough for overland music. I'm anxious to hear the battle music though.

I'm sure once diplomacy is implemented, open borders will be too. "unchangeable" is dangerous. You should never force movement without some sort of alternative. For example, the shortest route out of the territory is 4 turns, so then the player should be able to pick to which location those 4 turns are going to be spent. If it is unchangeable, players are going to become frustrated by it. heck Denryu's already frustrated by it, and it isn't even implemented
Probably took more effort to make that intro in the classic 8 bit than to have done it normally
to have what done normally? 4 screens with like at most 10 words on them in huge ancient font? plus a 2 frame landscape animation where the only animations are the eruption and river... I can't imagine how you could have an easier intro to make (except maybe no animation... or just a single screen... or mak

I've wanted to share the opening video (and as much if not perhaps more the music) with friends. However being the type of recluse that actually stays up all night ripping intro videos off of recently released game betas, my friends are not often actually at my computer to show them. So I have to rely on youtube links. So I made a video (sorry to the one other guy who bothered to rip the intro video to my knowledge. your rip was a bit too short for my tastes)<

I'll give you a cheat. If you get two spiders to move on top of each other. You can attack one and get past them without having to fight the other! If thats not what you meant, sorry. Besides, what do you want to test at this point? you can complete the whole tech tree in a matter of minutes. There really isn't much else you need to do at this point that isn't available from the start or related to some tech

see now, I thought you were going to say it was. So I came running thinking "THEY DO!?" but now I see its a suggestion. yeah, totally. Light of sight should totally be effected by mountains and trees. Problem is that tall mountains should be able to be seen over short mountains and that sort of thing. Lots of complex stuff that could exist there. Hight should be a factor, so mountains can be seen over tree tiles (with reason) &nbs

yeah, or just auto-explore shouldn't be able to start a war (no 3rd option) Thats funny. I was talking to somebody else with the issue that it prompted for war randomly and wouldn't take no for an answer. Hadn't considered they might have a scout autoing into somebody's turf.

it will only show you the closest two, but once you build a building, the available areas should grow. Up to the number of spaces based on the size of your nown. All the screenshots fit here. I only see 2 tiles (each able to hold 4 homes, or 1 farm) in use. Plus a mouse pointer, which is represented by the building being placed (but it isn't actually placed)

My comments (numbers show me commenting on said numbers) OP: 1. I agree. Right now there isn't much of a city-management screen, which I would expect to house such 'next city' button. Really there needs to be a way to see all the information on the tabs at the bottom at once so you can really "examine" a city, rather than just glance at a few highlights. 2. heck I can't even figure out what the real difference is, other than some

I am sure super powerful artifacts will exist eventually. I'd imagine most of them found in dungeons and such are pre-cataclysm (or how else would they get there?) And there is talk of super rare items and monsters that you'll only see once in a months worth of playing or so, this likely includes items that make heroes as powerful as channelers. This would be the type of item that seriously tilts the balance of the game at the end.

I would also like to see trade routes develop organically. paths would naturally form by themselves even if you did not build a road for them. That being said, Rome built roads for other purposes, and I know in Master of Magic roads are pretty much entirely for troop movement. So I would say, caravans (assuming they are still in the game) should still try to reach places without without a road to them. However they are at a serious disadvantag

20,000 leagues under the sea is considered to be a "steampunk" book. I can't think of any others off the top of my head. Glancing at wikipedia, it claims books like "The Time Machine" also helped define the genre. I would argue that steampunk is usually very dystopian. but when I think about it, most of the common ones you might find in pop culture, they aren't. When I think "steam punk" I think of very dark grizzled settings, locked in some sort of conflict where
