News on Diplomacy . . . so close. Can't wait.

Agreed. Advent have uber cap ships, illums that have more health and way more DPS for their cost then even HCs. They have a great eco and Guardians are so good that it feels like cheating.
their "missiles" are light based, and not really matter
Phase missiles have an upgrade called Nano-Molecularly-Engineered Warheads so that blows that theory out of the water. Once again, phase missile need to phase through a shield, but they need to be in "real space" to inflict actual damage. For a high speed missile to phase through a shield and come into "real space" at just the right moment to dmage the hull, phase missiles must "phase out" for an extrem
Your guesses are just that, but top marks for trying. [e digicons][/e] I didn't know that +/- quarks existed, I always thought that it was top/bottom, up/down and charm/strange. Then there is squarks and antiquarks. Also, quarks have "colour". There is red, blue and green quarks. Antiquarks are anti-red, anti-blue or anti-green. Correct me if i'm wrong. Also, gluons hold quarks together. They are particles of force. I don't know if they have mass or not. [quo
a beam of protons (light) could be damaging yes, but i would consider that more a type of laser than a "beam weapon" such that it is.

where are they called that?
Game manual and I think that the tech tree descriptions refer to them as plasma pulse guns and plasma wave cannons.
If the weapon can shift into phase space, why cant the Vasari sit a fleet on their homeworl and fire Phase Missiles at targets in other Gravity Wells, thereby
Never said it was an excuse
K, it just came across like that a bit. Glad to know that someone else has an opinion on my suggestion. As for your list of changes, I've heard that starfish need a slightly longer ranged attack so this could belong there (I'm not sure if this is needed though). Other then that, your list looks complete.
I'm a little suprised that no one's mentioned the whole it takes up 18 ship slots so is therefore useless. Which would you rather have. A starfish, or 3 squads of bombers that can become fighters if you need them to?
Back when Starfish were OP (this wasn't very long as a new patch was released quickly) it was the bombers that were useless. Advent only ever bothered with starfish as they were uber. 18 slots isn't terrible, but doesn't help.
Orkuli do damag
One more thing. Pulse guns are actually called "plasma pulse guns" it seems no one else has noticed. Also wave cannons are actually called "plasma wave cannons". Pulse guns are just plasma guns with a unique name. Wave cannons may use waves as a mechanism to project plasma projectiles. Thats my guess. As for pulse beams, they seem to be simply beam cannons with a short pulse. As for phase missiles, they may be much more expensive then other weapons which would restrict their u
I've raised this issue on other threads, but it belongs here so I'll mention it. Ogrovs and starfish have the wrong armour type. Currently, bombers and assualt cruisers have the same role and the same counter (fighters) which is stupid. One will be obselete. Assualt cruisers should have heavy (or maybe medium) armour so that they can attack enemy structures while fighters still have a presence. They would destroy the hangars and then you can send in the bombers to help destroy
Insulting gamers by saying that they have more games then friends is like insulting a person for having more DVDs and/or books then friends. Its idiotic and meaningless. It is also an inconcievably boneheaded and stupid tactic to insult one group as a means to reduce hatred for another group. Can you imagine a poster that is against anti-Semitism and tries to get its point across by humiliating Irish people? It is crude, insensitive, ineffective and ludicrous. I can't
I think that every one is misunderstaing this feminist. I do disagree with her, but what I think she is saying is this: male attitudes towards women are so strong and deeply ingrained on the male psyche that these views can even be seen to be represented in something as unexpected as StarCraft. Also, the name of this thread is a misnomer because she isn't complaing (she didn't come across like that to me) However, men have a different psyche fro women and men think abo
How often is phase out hull good? Not very. If I need to save a friendly cap from focus fire will I use Phase Out Hull? Definately not. I can save my FFed cap ship with overseers that DON'T disable my ship. Phase Out Hull is therefore redundant in this role. Marauder is pointless. The micro that the Marauder needs isn't worth the reward in my experience. If Phase Out Hull didn't disable friendlies OR if it was an ordinary disabling ability that dealth shield dama
Men? Why should I think of men? They are useful, after a fashion, for the succession of the race and the manning of the more miniscule psionic tasks, but in general, what is their purpose? They are only here to allow us to breed.
That reminds me. What do you do to TEC POWs? Is the Unity participating in the search for Earth?
Who do you think will win this war? Do you see any end in sight to this terrible conflict? It is often said that wars are the end of an era. What do you think the galaxy will be like after the war is over? (politically, culturally etc. )
I played Rome: Total War and its expansion Barbarian Invasion. Fun game, but I hate the pointless, identical factions in BI.
One more thing: making Phase Out Hull an ability that affects friendlies and makes them invulnerable but disabled is redundan t. Why? because we already have overseers that don't disable the friendly target. Why make a friendly ship invulnerable and disabled to save it from FFing when you can save it from FFing and allow that ship to continue to fight and move? Its pointless. Make Phase Out Hull and "ordinary" disabling ability t
Very interesting. I really like your suggested change for wave cannons.
I like most changes except for those for the Marauder. This ship looks fine on paper but it is only useful once every 20th game. Its abilities need to be redesigned to make them more useful more often. Subversion should simply prevent anything from being built at that planet. Maybe all enemy SBs in the grav-well should be sabotaged so that they receive a small amount of damage and are briefly disabled. Also, disintegration is not fine. It should ignore shields a
Nukes let peace prevail. Are Sins of a Solar Empire games won by maintaining peace? Nukes could blow a country sky high. Countries can't run away. Fleets in Sins can move and just evade the orkulus.
The Orky still gives you time. Not a victory, but it helps. My point was that even if it is not directly shooting the enemy, it still blocks off a potential path into you valuable inner worlds. However, I do agree that some room needs to be l
If you want to put trade on it afterward then save the slots and get more fleet to attack with.If we could get more slots for all sb I would be for that. You complain that the orky is useless afterwards but so is all other sb you build. If frontline moves its the same deal. The orky for offense is a one time deal and very powerful.
Attacking a SB with a fleet isn't a smart move most of the time. Just because other SBs have this issue, that doesn't mean that it isn't a prob
Sounds good. Having pulse guns and pulse beams share upgrades would have the same effect as replacing pulse guns with pulse beams and may be easier to implement. However, with these changes the pulse gun tree may have to go to a slightly higher research level say 2/3/4/5. Replacing Vasari disintegrators with wave cannons would also help make wave cannon upgrades more useful, but this might not be needed.
you shouldn't have to keep paying 10 bucks periodically to keep playing online. Like I said, of all the 'new stuff', only starbases are viable in multiplayer. Human players don't use mines, and the static defense structures are still largely unused because they're not cost effective vs human fleets. Stop being a mindless fanboy.
This game does get patched and patches are what make it viable in MP, not x-packs. I'm not a "mindless fan-boy", but I do appreciate
Totally agree with OP here. I hope the next expansion is free and titled "Pleasant Multiplayer Experience". I have a hard time recommending this game to friends because the multiplayer scene is so small and buggy. The game balance isn't even the worst of it - there's ICO crashing, a terrible stat tracking system, the all too random random map generator, minidumps ruining long games, etc, it's all been listed before on these forums. I bought entrenchment so t
The patch stat change thread now addresses this issue. I agree with a limit on the number of mines per grav-well. Combining that with high cost is too much. Hopefully this will be changed.
Vasari cap ship DPS should look like this: Kortul: 48 (doesn't need to be the same as other battleships as it gets more SC and beats them in a duel) Skirantra: 32 atleast Egg: same Marauder: 45 Vulkoras: 52 (why only 41??? the Akkan does more damage!!! why?why?why?) Back on main topic, making pulse beam weapons replace pulse guns is the best solution. Replace Disintegrators wiith wave cannons and its looking even better.
