I'll let you know when the alpha is done, but it's my policy that I wont release anything until I reach an acceptable level of gameplay quality which probably wont be until I finish the beta (which would include an actual map, hordes of zombies, a bunch of items, and things like that).

Hey everybody, it's time for another update on my zombie game I'm developing, title "Blood Holiday: The Flesh of July". I'm pretty excited because I just hit a major milestone and if I keep up the progress over the rest of today and tomorrow then I'll finally have an alpha ready! I want to save the best news for last, so I'll start small. my friend has jumped aboard the project as art designer and art lead. as I may have mentioned before, he created several icons for the weapons that

hey I hadn't thought of re-locking doors... I'll definitely implement that somehow! maybe a special command that's typed into the chat bar like this "lock" then you click on the door to be locked. thanks for the suggestion!

and as for when it will be done, it's difficult to say when exactly it will be done. the alpha will be ready pretty soon, but I don't want to release until I get a beta working. how long it takes inbetween alpha and beta depends on how many bugs pop up and how quick I can finish mapping the world. the mapping will take a while, at least a month to get a satisfactory size, but you can help shorten it by submitting your own custom made environments and such. read Zombie Game Update 2 and 3 for

construction is just another way of saying barricade construction. thus when you're standing in front of a door or window and you have the proper materials (like wooden boards, a hammer, and nails), then you can click on construction, then click on the nearby square you want to barricade this will increase its health and thus keep the zombies out for longer. if the building is big enough and there aren't too many survivors inside (zombies can smell or hear lots of humans), then chances

well the map is going to be a lot larger and there will be a whole lot more zombies. at least numbering in the hundreds, hopefully going up into the thousands marker. as for turrets, I probably will not include it in the initial release. There will be guards however in a few places that hold their position and shoot anything in their line if sight (potentially even the player), so they're sort of like turrets.

Hey everybody! It's been a little over a week since I last posted an update and I wanted to first apologize for the long wait. my birthday was last week so I spent most of my time out with friends and family. I also saw The Dark Knight, which was pretty much the best movie in the last couple of years (and most certainly the greatest comic book movie so far). but that doesn't mean I've been slacking off! I've made some pretty serious progress since the last time I updated my blog. One

well gameplay is similar to a rogue-like except it's much more open (less narrow corridors), and it won't be randomly generated. it will work off of a map system. also, the game will support a multitude of keyboard commands, so playing by keyboard or by mouse is possible (except movement with requires the keyboard). attack is a matter of point and click if you want it to be, and 90% of the functions will be covered by the keyboard. I'm hesitant to post this on rogue-like sites s

so much has happened since the last update. I've utilized the Bresenham line algorithm to finish up the zombie AI, and it works like a dream! The zombies can successfully chase any humans that come in their line of sight, but the humans can try to sneak around (if their sneak skill is good enough). The humans better not get too close though, or the zombies can smell you and hunt you down! Hiding inside buildings will help, but it won't stop the zombie horde! the size of the building, the dens

Well it's been a couple days since the last update and I've made some major progress. Work had been extremely slow the last couple of days because it has been so hot and I've mostly just been going to the mall to keep myself cool. that was, until last night. as I mentioned last update, I was working on the algorithm for line of sight and targeting and all of that. I didn't really know how I was going to do it (I had a basic way of doing it but it was pretty slow for something that sho

Alright so it's only been one day since the last update but I have a mini-update and some things to tell you guys. first, the update. I haven't had much time to work today since I had to go get my car smog checked and then I had to go get groceries. plus, it's been hot so it's hard to focus. but despite that I managed to make some progress. I've updated the time progression so that it's easier for me to update the map in-between actions. this allows me to show a more gradual movement

unfortunately I have not seen diary of the dead yet because it's not showing anywhere near where I live (at least last time I checked). but yes I'm a huge fan of George Romero and I'm hoping to capture the feeling from his movies in my game!

Well it's time for an update on my Zombie game I'm working on. let's get one thing out of the way first. I need a name for my game! if you have any suggestions, just comment and suggest them to me! if no one really responds I'll probably name it something like Zombie Invasion or Zombocalypse. now for the cool stuff that I've been working on. this weekend I've worked a bit on the mundane things like super classes for weapons, various groups of weapons, items, etc. I've also got

Zombies man...they creep me out... haha not really! to tell the truth, I'm one of the biggest zombie fans out there! and that's why for my summer programming project (and hopefully longer if all goes well) I'm going to be programming a free-roaming Zombie survival game! This project technically started around june 20th, but the work that was done back then was mostly sloppy and unorganized. the past couple of days I've been tweaking my old code (what little there was) and typi

Happy Independence Day everyone! I know I'm a bit late to the party since it is technically the 5th, but I've been busy all day (I'll post another entry soon detailing what it was I was working on) and only now have I had the chance to start this blog. I hope you all had a great time with friends and family! I know I did. my family and I h
