That depends on what you mean. 1) waiting for the "connection info" dialog to come up (i.e. a game has been found but connections are not complete.) or 2) the "connection info" dialog is up, and you're waiting for all the connectins to complete. #1 can take up to ten minutes. Nothing you can do. #2 if it doesn't complete with 2 minutes, it never will 9 times out of 10 .

Er, also, you're presuming a couple of things: - they speak your language... I mean, hows your Japanese? - they can type by touch (I can't imagine hunt-and-pecking during melee) - they're not too busy finding the on switch to be barking marching orders. FWIW, I always start each game with a quick greeting, just to see who's awake, and let them know that I am.
Honestly, I suspect the real motive for the p2p architectue was financial . Even if it was technically optimal to run everything through centralized servers, they'd have to pay someone to have a server farm, and this co st grows with user base. I think they thought it would be easier/cheaper just to mediate the initial P2P connections. Whoops! </
Youre not hallucinating. * Stats haven't been updated in 3 Days * I'm sure they have bigger fish to fry right now. I recommend not getting attach to your stats righ now, because theyre all going away soon. (Epoch 0->1)
Please, please. fix the network stuff by Frday or I have to go back to my real life.
I have to disagree on this one. DYING IS BAD . It should be a big deal, with a big penalty, or else it just reinforces people flinging themselves in mindlessly. In principal, i like the idea of a strategic death, (which i do all the time even with the high penalty) but I find a tactical retreat much more frequently usefull.
Look at the OP nick. Is that a throw-away or what? Who's shill are you? If you're gonna call Chris Taylor out by name publicly like that, you need to own it you coward.
Yeah, this is the second night in a row that status haven't been updated. I think its not really a priority right now. Too bad; I was soemthing like 10 and 2 yesterday. Buddha says, don't get attched to material things (or stats) :-)
Hey, there isn't an irc channel or anything is there?
YES. grrrrrr. p.s. what happened to the 10PM EST standings update?
Has anyone ever seen this acutally work? Seems to be a victim of the problem its trying to fix.
Ok. So the big elephant in the living room is connectivity. Instead of dragging every last person through setting up port forwarding on a gzillion different routers, why don't we just use UPnP ? That way, at worst you just need to get people to turn on a single feature (if it isn't already)

Could this be a good resolution of two common gripes: leavers and bots (in online games)? Given one of these scenarios: You're in a 2v2 and paired with a helpless bot You're paired with a leaver who jumps ship as soon as you're even marginally behind the curve (cowards!) You are just totally outclassed and way behind the curve, but its going to take another 30 minutes for them to grind y
YES! They're stupid, tedious, and without a resign option they just force me to feed experience/favor to the dark. Blah.
Obviously we want the stats to be accurate, and this should be near the head of the queue. However, even if the stats accuracy were perfect, the connectivity issues makes the meaning rather arbitrary. Case in point, I sat down last night and play 7 games straight, over many hours, and every last one of them was on the Crucible map , (2v2) apparently because only the smaller games ever succeedd in finishing connecting.
Hah! With the teams I'm getting, when I get an AI replacement, its usually an improvement! [e digicons]:\[/e]
Yep, seen it. It does come back though. I played ~5 games this AM (2-6 PST) and they all finished (despite the leaving wankers) Its a good thing IP is a patient protocol.
Hm, I too have two monitors but this doesn't happen to me. Win XP64, 9800GTX, driver 182.08
Are you actually clicking into another app, or just onto the desktop? It's not 100% for me at any rate.
FWIW, when I opened up my Encore N router, all the 'port checkers' didn't see it - might be a delay, Choosing to believe the makers of an app that spends its day doing network stuff, I tried a MP game anyway and voila! NOTE: there was still a significant delay until the "connection info" dialog came up (1-3 minutes at 3AM PST), but once it did, all players connected quickly (and did so several times) NOTE2: To make
Yes. Its NOT a graphics problem. Any fullscreen app should not allow the mouse to leave its monitor. FWIW, not an issue in windowed (ick) mode, and i can attest that a R4850+Q6600 can keep up even then. It's nice to be able to browse for info while playing.
Auuuuummmm. Put down the Monster. Watch some youtube or something for 48 hours or so. It's worth waiting for. I feel your pain. I'm running triple monitors and most times if i click on another monitor when DG is in full screen mode, I get a "Fatal Error" or some such thing, and I have to shoot it with a howitzer to kill the process. Also, FYI, I hear that the problems aren't as bad when you're playing for Light. :-)
Banned for making me waste time at work.
You don't want the speed boots. These aren't the speed boots you're looking for... [e digicons][/e]
