need some tips on modding ai techs in GalCiv III Modding GalCiv3 Forums

so I made new custom terran faction as my opponent and I'm trying to make them use beam ships only like in starting trailer but for some reason they won't. so far I have been changing in factiondefs and in terrantechdefs (beam tech) but that doesn't seem to work or I'm doing something wrong. edit: oh and is it possible to make ai go with specific tech tree by changing numbers
