This look great. Isn't the price too low? @Frogboy, will the Alliances get fixed? Current system is really... insufficient, to say.
Not quite. Civilizations are not tied to the size of your population. They are tied to your civilization ability for creating citizens. Thus, a small empire might actually have more citizens than a large empire.
That sounds great! I assume this "ability" will differ from empire to empire, based on faction traits, technology, special buildings, maybe government system...? Can´t wait!
I have to disagree on the GC2 system being "good". But each to their own.
I tend to agree. I have seen much better espionage systems, take for example the old BOTF game. But it will get a lot of fresh air with the citisen system, I guess...
Holy cow, this looks interesting! So the citizens are derived from your population, similarly to old MoO2 system? Or is it a completely independent system? And how about long-awaited politics and elections? Will it be part of the Crusade somehow? [e digicons]o_O[/e]
As many pals around here, I love these stories! What settings are u using, BTW?
Yes, they are still useless placeholders even in 2.0 (!). Stardock is deliberately ignoring the issue, it seems... [e digicons]:annoyed:[/e]
I would like if colonies would also require administration
Yeah. And shipyards as well, plus going over the (soft) admin cap = ineffectiveness, maluses to production and research, higher maintenance...
The admin system will be the make or break feature for me.
Exactly the same for me. I sort of prefer the soft cap more, but I am eager to try any variant SD decides to implement.
Great stuff! Thanx, Brad. Few questions/suggestions though: Administration Why do we relate it only to starbases? Shouldn´t we count in also shipyards and even planets? It is hard or soft limit? I.e. I cannot build stuff over limit, or I can but I get production, approval etc. maluses? The admin points get increased by technology, with opportunity costs coming out of missed military/econ research. Ok. But will it suf
Ok thanks. I am a little disappointed that a game that has been out for quite a while now still has broken gameplay, especially from a company like Stardock.
Yeah. Surprisingly, Stardock would be precisely the kind of company I would expect to strongly focus on Diplomacy aspect of the game. Yet believe me, some of the issues (useless alliances) are being discussed since Fallen Enchantress, which is maybe l
It is utterly broken, like most of the diplomatic contracts. Treaties are doing something different than described, non-agression can be broken any time, when your allies are attacked you don´t even get a dialogue prompting you to join them or break the alliance. Even Total War games have this and in Stardock games diplomacy is broken in this regard since FE [e digicons];P[/e] Hopefully it gets fixed some day...
Don't let anyone but yourself rush you. Us forum folk can wait. Take the time to do it right and avoid the stress of yet another patch for a patch. Holidays have enough stress in them as it is. Have you ever had to run a Secret Santa with a bunch of psychics? You don't know holiday stress until you do.
Yeah, but having admin systém in before Christmas would be a very nice present from Brad and Stardock
Re Admin system: IF I can do it myself, then yes. It's the UI that's the problem. I have no idea how to modify the screens and we're a little short-handed right now (Christmas and illnesses).
Okay, fair enough. Thanks for the hard work, hopefully your staff gets better soon! I would help myself but as a finance guy, I guess could only supply tea and coffee for those sick :)
Read the new dev diary by Brad.
Well it says it will be implemented, which is a good thing, but ETA is not given. Hopefully it comes as some 1.95 in the following week(s)!
I am looking forward to talking to you guys about Tall strategies.
I am looking forward to that! But before that, how about the first step: the admin system? Are we gonna get it sooner, as a part of 1.9X or something like that?
Hey, internal politics are coming back, aren't they?
I definitely hope so!
Frankly, it kind of bugs me that I can't talk about it now but marketing would have me killed. And I really like being alive. It's my favorite form of existence.
Well, maybe you can post severel sneak peaks into the vault? ;)
I want to get the Administration feature in. Just not sure the best way to do it that doesn't require a ton of UI work.
This feature is crucial right now. We just need more options based on tall strategies? Why don´t you implement it like a another resource, which is required for starbases etc.? Shouldn´t take much of the UI work, me guess :)
Broadly speaking: - Espionage - Interactive Invasion sys
Thanks for the hard work. Was hoping however that new administration system will make it into this one, finally. Hopefully it is not postponed till Crusade...
Still no administration? Tsss [e digicons]>_>[/e]
The next thing on my list is the small empire / administrative resource that will control not just how many starbases you have but a lot of other things. I am trying to get that in today.
Hoah, Frogboy! Keep 'em coming! You rock, man :)
until we get the new Administration cost stat implemented
And that will be approximately when? [e digicons]:cylon:[/e]
Will administration be part of this? I am not sure about many changes without that, starbase distance reduction being the most flagrant [e digicons]>_>[/e]
Starbase minimum distance reduced from 5 to 3 tiles.

Politics. I am probably alone on this but it's a big bugaboo with me that we don't have more politics in these games.
Your definitely not alone! I consider it big mistake from the beginning of GCIII, not to include politics. It was one of the greatest and most innovative, I would even say believable points of GCII. And it made player really feel he is managing living empire, more than anything else. So yeah, finally it´s coming ba
Great news [e digicons][/e] Can´t wait, Frogboy!
