I like the concept but it's a lame building at the moment - it's a per faction building available mid-game that takes a long time to build and costs maintenance. In return it gives champs xp so slowly that it's actually irrelevant at that point in the game. Additionally, the champ needs to sit in the city doing nothing to benefit from it so you are also foregoing the use of the champ too. Currently you could dump 6 governors in it and it

I must also be doing something "wrong". I go for a few big cities with level 4 & 5 bonus buildings and food works about right. I research food early on and keep barely ahead of demand, with "gentle rain" as a fallback in case of shortages. Current system works ok for me. I'm ok with current system.
Still seems a bit underpowered. Once some has gotten a level or 3, it takes a loooong time for 1 xp/turn to give a level. I don't build them, but I will shamelessly exploit the ones I capture.
Says it give a 25% chance of a xp for stationed heroes every turn, but it actually seems to be 100%. 100% is better, imho.
I like how Horses are -weight while Wargs are + initiative. (I think Wargs give +2 initiative iirc) This allows for very fast mounted units if lightly armored and riding wargs.
Agree. Having both encumbrance and plate-armor intiative penalties seems like the are dinging us double, and overdoing it. Plate slows us down because it is heavy, so encumbrance OR initiative penalties make sense, but not both. I
I saw caravans on the map in .86 after with trade treaties, so they aren't totally gone. So from a distance it sure sounds like OP had a trade treaty and the old bug with caravans in the unit list after a load-in-game.

I think I see my email address in there. Been crashing enough so it's not a big surprise (on XP). But the partly-obscured email addresses remind me what I've read about how many kinds of anonymized user data aren't as anonymous as they are supposed to be.
One easy way to give big cities more "Oomph" might be to let you choose 2 out of the 5 level-up buildings instead of just 1. Or give each faction a guaranteed level-up building for each level, in addition to the one you choose.
Galciv 2 was like this too. "1 per faction" is short for "you can't start building 1 if you already have one built or under construction". Behavior is reasonable, wording is sloppy.
I've seen this too. Late-game, I'm more powerful than #2 & #3 combined. #4 declares war and sends a few stacks across neutral territory towards one of my cities. First stack had the sovie, several combat units, and two pioneers.
Agree
definitely just moving this time (later in the same campaign). Basically it crashes about once an hour. I guess it would help to exit and do a clean start, but I keep forgetting. debug.err http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8928343/debug-86-crash.err crash zip http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8928343/FallenEnchantress0_86-2012-02-25T17-45-19-453.zip

I have same issue with a ordinary cheapo mouse, so hi-res probably isn't a factor. It's been like that since WoM.
I don't mind the +1/level the way they are. Makes my hour when I get one :)
I don't see a problem. Now hush before the devs see this!
yes There's a similar trick with vulnerable (minus 5 spell resistance) and brilliant (+1 intelligence per level). Intelligence increases spell resistance in addition to helping spell mastery and making you get XP faster. Hopefully by the time anyone is throwing dangerous spells at you you have enough levels so resistance is a wash and the mastery &

Couldn't they at least add 1 line like "this city is now idle" to the message we already get on the right-side of the screen when a city completes something. The ZZZZzzz on the left side doesn't cut it in large maps & long campaigns where they are mostly down off the screen.
