The public demo is irrelevant to Stardock,that's host's choice making it available without notifying users it had been discontinued,so does the third party themes developer (ohmyicons.com). Yes,the public version has a limited functionality and a timeout.
There is no one to blame for. Windowblinds is complementary software,whereas Firefox is browser which has to implement the newest scripts/codes that websites owned,otherwise it will be outpaced/abandoned in the market. On the GUI part,not only FF,so has Chrome the same quirks that try to wow users but put snags at Windowblinds.

It works better in XP,I afraid. Having said this,you can manually edit its definitions with text editor to experiment though,it might work after that.

After the revision,delete all of temporary files (.*~, .WB4, .WB64) in skins' folder to take effect.
If Windowblinds cannot detect the native font that you prefer,then either you can edit themes with SkinStudio or simply open Windowblinds skin of definition file (.uis/.sss) with a text editor.

Windowblinds couldn't blur that effect as you wanted but imitate t as far as I know. Th one you mentioned about does provide that,however,it's quite an intrusive way which is not recommend to users who don't know how to repair/reverse the course.
