Suggestions for the demo: 1. Only make 2 demigods available, 1 assassin from each side. Generals are harder to learn how to play well and could confuse new people. Everyone likes the Rook, but he's hard to play as a newb, so I would not make him one of the options. It would frustrate people. I'm thinking more like, Regulus and Unclean Beast. These DGs are both fairly easy to learn I feel and any newb can get a lucky snipe in and lol. This would b

I don't think it's accurate to say that the game works fine for most people. Without going into the non-connection related bugs, it works fine (connects) for me, but when every game has someone else drop, that still ruins my game even if I can look past the other issues. The game is only playable in custom game mode with favor items turned off right now, after you make sure yourself that everyone involved is going to be able to stay connected by kicking iffy people. T
I kind of would expect a witch hunter to hunt demigods as they're kind of unnatural... being a demigod would be weird. Also, I think it's too warhammer-ish. There are more original ideas out there.
I wrote this in another thread but it was kind of off-topic for there, so I'm going to repeat it here. There is a vernacular definition of DRM and a technical definition. 95% of gamers wouldn't consider things like registering to download updates or using CD keys to be "DRM", the term has applied almost entirely to things like the copy protection used in some EGM games etc. So a short conclusion then would be, no one is offended or outraged by Demigod's highly limited sa
[quote who="Shock0311" reply="21" id="2176932"] Quoting Zoobi07, reply 3 DRM is not the way to go to avoid pirating. Pirates will ALWAYS find a way around it, which in the end all it does is piss off customers. I'm glad Stardock is taking a no DRM stance. News flash, CD Keys are DRM and the oldest form of DRM used in PC games. ANYTHING that restricts access to content so only authorized users can access it is DRM and that is EXACT
I think more and more pirates will buy Demigod as time goes on. There's a couple factors there I would expect to be relevant: 1. New content, like new maps and new Demigods will make the pirated version seem lame. Same with some needed balance changes. 2. Shrinking playerbase on Gameranger leaving pirates with the connection problems! 3. Be sure to require some validation to play LAN in new versions of Demigod so that they can't all just p
They haven't avoided contemporary religious references at all. If anything they've embraced them. We have Regulus and angel units, and the unclean beast arguably has some religous references as well. I think this is a GREAT idea, I would love to see a giant hindu elephant doing its thing. But it could use fleshing out and balancing of course. I would suggest that 1. it be a guy riding an elephant or better a guy with elaborate persian/hindu clothes w
It could have skills like "shoop da woop" and "charging mah lazerz".
I'm not sure why, but as of today, my game freezes (eight times in a row as of this writing) when I'm trying to connect to people. The clouds in the background stop moving and I can't click on any of the buttons, though the music progresses normally and I can still move the cursor around. I've had to give up by now on joining any games. Anyone else noticed this phenomenon? Most but not all of the time it would happen after saying "Failed to connect to: impulsenameguy".
I want to see Demigod in the wii and the DS personally.
I've done really well as a fire TB and very not well as a frost or hybrid TB. You need the movement speed boost to survive as a TB and it helps when killing other DGs too. A hybrid build with the fire aura could probably work, but I really can't imagine doing well with the DG without that movement speed. Edit: I say this because you seem to be saying that you don't expect him to survive but maybe he can make up for it with farming. I don't think that's necessarily th
I agree. I think they need to rework how gold for kills is given out so that people have more of a chance to come back.
Can the totems be targetted and destroyed? I assume the xp bonus would potentially be countered by the fact that you are giving more xp to the enemy when those charmed creeps get killed? Using one without the other would be risky. I could not see myself using charm creeps until late in the game when people are almost level 20 and there are a LOT of upgraded creeps around. Tbh I'm not sure how much I like the idea. It would be really easy for a newb on your team to
Siege gunners have more range than towers. It won't remove them instantly but the damage of those buggers can add up even on normal towers. I like to leave mine attacking towers on the map while I take the rest of my minions to do other things. Their range is also larger than the fog of war, so it is really easy for people to not notice them attacking for a long period of time.
Great idea, I love it! Partially because I love my forum avatar :D I think it could add a lot of personality to the game.
Hehe, you asked me to try this with you earlier but it was my first game as UB I think it was so I had to decline. I can see the strategy getting used a lot in high skill level games though. I might try it with a Regulus build, what's the range on them? Is it melee?
I remember reading how they had some difficulty balancing generals with assassins because assassins always seemed better. With 1k or more gold per kill, it seems to me like it should have been obvious why the generals had difficulty competing. Since even now I can do a tower pushing build and it will push towers worse than someone who does a DG killing build and gets a four kills in, because that DG ends up so much stronger.
I agree, the gold reward for killing Demigods needs serious work, and something along the lines of OP's formula would be the way to change it. Edit: Overall decrease in the gold for kills should be done as well in my opinion.
I agree that spells not scaling is kind of annoying. Of the things I would have hoped them to fix from your DotA/AoS maps, this was one of them. The increase wouldn't have to be much but some spells should scale in damage, especially against enemy Demigods. Personally I would have spells targetting DG's doing a % of max health + a set amount of damage which can then go up.
That sounds really amusing, I would totally play that :D Just leave the rook and knight slots empty to be starting positions for characters :D I would suggest that portals be where some of the pawns would go.
There's actually some very convincing mathematical arguments in favor of there being no other intelligent life existing in our portion of the galaxy. Based on what we estimate the makeup of the galaxy to be and what little we know about nearby planets in other solar systems, the chance of life forming independently on other planets is almost 0%. Research projects like scanning for radio signals (SETI) and other smaller scale projects that search for anomolies in the light com
No Demigod tonight :X
Yeah, that is how I thought it was working, but I'm not playing enough to just test it myself so I thought I'd bring it up. Since there is no command for "target all but priests" it makes making them heal a real pain. I think it would be worth suggesting it as a change once they're done with the multiplayer, either to the way they heal or to the control scheme for minions.
I like the idea of a VIP game mode, but not like this. If you don't get creep exp or gold and the target is very conservative so you can't kill it, how many hours would these games be lasting?
