I got this same exact error but I have a Radeon 9600 series graphics card. I updated the drivers and now I got pass to the menu page.

I also have this same problem on my Dell Laptop. I did some search and it seems the same problem exist on Supreme commander which is based on that game's engine. It is sad to hear since I can play Spore, WoW, and Red Alert3 beta. I heard they were trying to make this game low requirement based. I just bought the game today Sept 11 and I got the cd key right away after clicking order submit. The beta key showed up both in the order receipt webpage and in my email box.

I tried to find the system requirements and couldn't find them. Will my 2 year old dell lattitude D610 work laptop be able to play this game? My Dell D610 is Pentium 2.0Ghz, 2gb ram, Intel chipset graphics card. The only thing I worry about is the graphics card requirement since i have the cheap intel built in graphics card.
