It was more of The Witcher, more of Crusader Kings Complete, a little Spectromancer and a little bit of Sacrifice.

Yep, I'll take another look at it a couple of patches down the road. I don't mind the decision to go to a 3D map, but how do you manage to make a 3D map that doesn't really give a clear indication of terrain?! How is that even possible???
Elias : First off...I hate to break this to you, but EVERY software developer exists TO MAKE MONEY. Stardock, Paradox, EA, Betesda, anyone else you can name are in business for the express reason of MAKING MONEY AT IT. Second, I'm curious why EA gets special treatment for using more invasive DRM systems. What about Ubi, 2K, Take Two, Activision, Atari, etc. who have all done the same things? Face it...you're making excuses. There is very little that differentiates what EA does
The tutorials are awful...absolutely awful. I've played HoI 2, and even I was lost with how the new UI works...for a total newbie to the HoI universe, that has got to be absolutely baffling. I also cannot believe they REMOVED AI control over the domestic sliders. Did people WANT to have to baby sit that crap again? So, I can now order AI fronts on what objectives to push for...so that I can micromanage domestic economic policy. Not real thrilled. I'll be waiting to see what ha
I think paradox is using goo for drm on all their new games. Just so you know goo is stardocks version of drm, that they liscence to 3rd parties (as their games do not have drm). Goo is basically impulse in a file. I loved the 2nd one. Best simulation series ever, but I think I lack the time to invest in this right now. School is keeping me too busy.
Actually they
The Guild, Front Office Football and Europa Universalis III.
Imperium Galactica 2 is a classic and combines 4X and RTS much like Sins of a Solar Empire did. Skip IG3, though. I recommend hitting the indy scene, games such as Dyson - a very unique take on RTS - can prove to be a worthwhile distraction. I appreciate the suggestion, but I just say no to RTS in any form. Demigod is the only RTS I've ever been able to stand and that's because you just control 1
Spartan : Yep, that "You're all pirates or idiots." was one of the all time dumbest comments I have ever read PERIOD. However, over the past 6 months or so I have noticed a decidedly different tone coming from EA, which is nice to see. On the other hand, we have good ol' Bobby Kotick of Activision. First he admits he's whoring out his franchises until the public is sick of them and drops all of his original IPs. When one of THOSE, Brutal Legend, starts getting positive press, he starts a cour
Actually, the F.A.D.E. in Arma 2 has led to some pretty hilarious stuff. I guess if you play a pirated version of it, you cannot hit anything with a weapon, and after a certain period of time become...a seagull.
Yep. It's all good. I certainly don't count my not liking it as a strike against Stardock as a company or anything like that...just not my cup of tea. Back to waiting for Elemental. [e digicons][/e]
I'll 2nd Knights of Honor...really well put together game. It's one of those games that's simple enough to pick up quickly, but not so simplistic that you'll get bored of it very quickly (if at all). Hell, the only reason I stopped playing it was that I started played Europa Universalis 3. And even though they're technically RTS games, pretty much everything Paradox has put out is a large scale strategic longform game...there's nothing resembling a clickfest to be found
Quite frankly, I find the ad hoc "EA is the Devil!" stuff a little tiresome. Look at all the crap Activision and Ubisoft have been pulling the last while without anyone uttering a word of complaint, yet if EA tried some of the same stuff there'd practically be geek riots. The hypocrisy of it is rather annoying.
I did some scouring around and tried it with nosound and it ran much more samoothly. Still...just not my cup of tea. I'd like to see some actually tactical maps...different areas providing different bonuses or penalites, high ground, that sort of thing. I think that's what I found grew very dull for me quite quickly was just the uniform flat nature of the map in the demo (and from what I see in screenshots and the like, that isn't any different in the other maps).
Tages in Dawn of Discovery Demo? Seems to be. In the top directory of the demo there is a file called TagesClient.exe. Perhaps Tages is so integrated that even the demo has to have it along, or maybe Tages is what sets the playtime limit with the demo. Not hurting anything, since it is just a demo, but maybe there should have been a DRM warning with the demo too.
If that were the case, it would have had to
I played a fair bit tonight. Only against weak AI so far, and I never played DotA, but I think I'm starting to get a feel for the game. It doesn't feel like I'm playing a full game, though. Yes, it's a demo, but all of the core gameplay is intact, right? It's only a few characters and maps that aren't available. I feel like there's supposed to be something more; like it's just a minigame from some larger product. I don't know if that's a
The important question is: What will Namco Bandai do with Ataris legendary franchises? Master of Orion & Master of Magic.
Namco Bandai didn't buy any apsect of Atari's development studios or their games properties, they just bought their European publishing and distribution systems. lordkosc : Yes they did, and it has done pretty well. Prior to that, though...I honestly don't know what
I remember the installer said something about running it from the Start menu on Vista or Windows 7. Maybe try that?
Actually, after the first trailer (which was terrible, I agree), I've enjoyed the video for the game.
Quoting kryo, reply 6Demo players use a separate lobby, however you can freely join #demigoddemo in IRC, and you can install the demo alongside the full game if you want to play with some friends who are looking into the game. Nice thats a good way to split the community! Why the hell did you do this? Now its even harder to find players to play with...
Probably because they'd like some of the demo players to a
Quoting Crassmaster, reply 1 Have you played any of the earlier Anno games? If so, how would you compare? I really enjoyed 1701 and I'm considering picking this one up. No, I have not played any of the other Anno games, although I wish I had picked them up a long time ago. From other comments I've read though, this game is their best yet. They have a demo you could try that let's you play the full game for 1 hour at
Love this game (with the expansions). Definitely go for the Complete Edition if you're going to pick it up. If you're really unsure, you could always throw down the...I think it's ten bucks most places...and buy EU2. There are differences, but you'll at least get a handle on the style of the series.
In the case of Dawn of Discovery I can confirm here that the TAGES software will NOT interfere with anything else you've got running on your computer. It doesn't interfere with the game or cause crashing of any kind. The game is incredibly beautiful and fun to play with great depth, excellent voice acting, good campaign and perfect UI. It is worth evey penny of the $50 that it is going for at the moment. Some very nice screen
I personally don't think Atari is in good health at all, and hasn't been for awhile. They didn't show up at E3 this year, and the rumor was that they flat out couldn't afford it and/or had nothing to show off. The latter part especially seems to have some merit...think about it, can you name 3 recent Atari releases off the top of your head? And if you do look the list up, aside from Ghostbusters (which has gotten pretty solid reviews), it basically reads like crap, crap and more crap. <p
Aw. No EU3: Complete Edition?
I'm not sure why Impulse doesn't have that. It IS on sale on Gamersgate, though.
Great FAQ. This game keeps sounding better and better.
