Yrag; f8 method does not have safemode as option. cant figure out how delete key got safemode before. zigroom: if alvira killed it, then my word files should be ok, but they all still act up, even newly created 'empty' ones.."

OK Yrag, tried f8 to boot safe mode. safe mode NOT an option. tried restart, and hit delete, got the bios, exited out with no saved changes, and got a safe mode boot option. booted safe mode. ATF cleaner NOT on desktop, in safe mode. (Placed atf on desktop.) will downlaod atf again, repl current one on desktop and see if that does it.

OK Yrag, i attempted a system restore three times. Tried three different restore points. Each time, windows made a comment about changes to disk E will be excluded. No disk in e anyway. PC shut down,m restarted, restore did its thuing, and message came up. No changes made. Guess this bug can mess with system restore? downloaded atf claner. going to do as you just wrote, safe mode boot, etc. be back soon.

I like MS office, worked fine before this bug hit my PC. i have disc for windows, and certificate. i never burned the service packs.... I thought MS stopped supporting XP. They still have serv pak 1 and 2 available on line?

OK, bugs maybe?? gone, (malwarebytes clear. Alvira clear, shredder clear), but ALL MS word docs still bugged, even new ones just made with NO text...). Guess it is time to lose it all, and do fresh install of windows... oye!

i downloaded hitman pro. tried to install it. siad file was in use by another program. I closed browswer (usually fixes this message). then it said 'program is not a valid 32 bit program (it is!).

downloaded stinger from mcvee. won't let me install it. says 'is in use by another program.' i get this alot lately, and closing opera (browser) has always let me install program. this time, even closing the browser did not let me install the stinger from macavv.

i did the hijack thingy. downloaded it. installed it. ran it. ran it. copied log. posted log (paste) into analyzer field. hit "parse" went to window. said cant open file.

Ues, malwarebyres, and now just finished scan with avira. Avira found 4 trojans, virus and quarantined them, then i deleted them. Can now do galciv. But impulse only go as far as the download updates (very small dialogue window) centered on desktop. Then nothing. MS word 2002, can't open any docs, and new docs, once saved, cannot be opened. Lord Cobol, i would be lost trying to do what you say. What is a CK, to boot from? Nuke HD to bedrock? You mean reformat HD? I'm afraid to reinstall windows,etc. I am just not that tech savy...
