Sound shouldn't have that much impact imho. A lot of integrated sound chipsets offload all the sound processing to the CPU, and this can definitely have a performance impact on older single core systems. Lowering sound quality settings should help with any heavy performance loads.
That didn't help much in my case. In fact, it didn't help at all. The only thing that helped was playing with /nosound. With /nosound it r
Hey all- I am highly considering getting demigod --but not until the online thing is fixed. would you all agree with me or is it worth getting right now?
I would wait for a demo if I were you. By the time it comes out, the MP is probably fixed and you can also see if the game runs at all on your comp (people are having issues still, and I'm not talking about the MP problems). If it runs and the MP is fixed, it's a g

Topics will be: New Demigod #1 New Demigod #2 How do you want Clans to work Group Joins
I hope not only the connectivity issues get attention, but all the other problems as well? You aren't forgetting those, hopefully? Expanding the game is great, but I still
Since we’re starting to come to the end of the serious connection problems (it may not seem like to some externally but it really is getting pretty close) I was wondering if people would like to continue to see these things when we start to talk about ideas for new Demigods, new items, new multiplayer modes, how you’d like to see clans and groups and friends handled. I really don’t mind doing these but obviously don’t want

To both of you... You might want to try running the game with the /nosound option. How to do that is described here: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348389 If this helps, could you please report it in this thread: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348232 That way we can keep the same issue in one thread and maybe get the dev's attention a bit better.
i just installed Demigod and i went to play but i found out that it is super laggy, any ideas on what the problem might be and how to fix it?
Laggy in what sense? Is your FPS really low on a system that should be able to handle the game? If so, you might want to try running the game with the /nosound option. How to do that is described here: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348389

We ( my boyfriend and me, both having the same system and of course the same issue) resorted to downloading experimental sound drivers from http://www.nforcershq.com/ to try it out. Our onboard sound card is a Realtek ALC850, a sound card that is extremely badly supported. Anyway, those new drivers didn't solve the problem. So those can be scratched off the list as well. I'm out of ideas.

And you're right, it might be easier to just bag it and run with /nosound if the sound weren't so darn integral to this game's presentation (which I maintain is magnificent). My Motherboard is a Assus A8N-E....
Interesting...Same motherboard here.
so how do you apply the /nosound ? Is it through the shortcut or is it through ingame console/command?
No, create a shortcut to Demigod.exe on your desktop, right click the shortcut, chose 'Properties' and in the command line in the Target field, add /nosound. So your command line should look something like this: "C:\Program Files\Stardock Games\Demigod\bin\Demigod.exe" /nosound
Aryanna and Renwold, your issue sounds like mine. Does the problem go away if you zoom in on your Demigod? Zoom and move around to a different part of the map? I've noticed this can help at times. Also, does it happen in multiplayer? Like I said, I think this happens when the AI calls get to be too much, it overloads the processing, and sucks the framerate down. -HM
Zoom
First with sound Game starts at Sim Speed of 4, then I go and cap the Portal to the right as I approach it moves down till hit hits 0 and stays there. Then without sound using the /nosound option Game starts at Sim Speed 4, I cap - still a steady 4 and fps 45. I then wade into battle and it remains at 4 with fps above 40.
This pretty much equals my own experience.
