[quote who="Smarmellows" reply="44" id="2711283"] Society will always be vulgar, and what is acceptable or not is relative to the society. Games like GTA, Saints Row (I play the latter), are extremely vulgar, to be terribly honest the main attraction of Saints Row is the unrestrained almost Benny Hill like quality the violence has for me. I titter something fierce when I watch my toon do a cartwheel over the hood of a car because I slammed on the accelerator of my

We have alot of female employees for the measly 4 gamestops we have. I think theres 1-2 female employees at each store. [quote who="Smarmellows" reply="41" id="2710895"] Making a film about the 'war on terror', Iraq, Afghanistan I doubt are something veterans of these places would want to watch, but the purpose of them is to not just be a vulgar display of violence, but to teach us about what's going on. The purpose of a video game is to have fun, to make light of things. To make a video game about people shooting each other, Westernish forces fighting opfor or what h

They don't pay very well. While you could get someone who knows and loves their games to work there and do a good job, the best employees are going to wind up in higher paying jobs (because talent tends to rise over time). Hell, before they closed I was

The Starcraft 2 beta was basically 5 months (or however long it was) of balance testing and polishing. The game itself was pretty much "done," it was just tweaking. The same can be said of most beta's nowadays. Of course they don't give you the final version, that would be silly. But t

We grew up on Ultima IV, we loved MoM, we loved Xcom. Some people would play those games and not like them. That's fine. There's lots of games that cater to that huge demographic. Elemental is for us. I've got years. I'm not working on any

I think Elemental has the disadvantage, or advantage depending on how you look at it, of having to base it's success on how good the game is for it's target audience. A lot of these other games, put out by big company with huge marketing budget could peddle crap or recycled content and their rabid fanbase (reviewers included) will eat it up regardless to the tune of millions. Personally, I am hoping Elemental will be a little more broad in appeal than GalCiv, which by no means implies I

I miss Roller Coaster Tycoon, pretty much all the good tycoon games, as opposed to the bargain bin ones that still get pumped out. Sim City, pretty much all the good city-builder games I miss too.

Bonscott, that seemed a strange idea, but since Civ series includes Civ 3 still readily available and cheap it might be true! Civfanatics still shows a moderate amount of activity with Civ 3, including mods, $5 these days for Civ 3 complete. $5 is a lot less than $49.99. Sure, Civ 5 is a lot more game.
