EA is getting better now. They use to be absolutely horrible, using Activation Limits and SecuROM. I don't really give a crap about Ubisoft anymore though, I was going to by Prince of Persia but was turned off by the lack of DLC. Now, Ubisoft has zero games that interest me at all.
That's funny. I purchased Prince of Persia because it had no DRM and no DLC and was really cheap.

I beta's this game. Disliked the limitations and especially hated the fact they wanted to charge me like an MMO when it was so... well, lacking is the best word I could come up with it. Apparently, I was not alone. Oct to March, is this the most short lived MMO to date, maybe close (not counting the ones that never made it to retail space)? Oh more discussions to be had on simtropolis about this, and it doesn't look like they are doing much for those people out there who

Ubisoft is now above EA in publishers I really don't want to support. At least with EA there are some titles I am willing to buy and many of them are released with only disc checks (retail versions) so when they are done milking customers with dangling DLC, the packaged versions will be wortwhi

Maybe that will send a message. This is literally a "don't be evil" moment. I will be UPSET if Stardock sells this game using this DRM schem

This is certainly not better than the so called "old way". Some of you who like this idea act as if the "old way" was only Starforce of Secruom when there are several other methods that do work that aren't elitist, don't lease games, don't rely on company's to pay for servers whicch they can yank at any time, which don't force you to be online everytime to play your game... this is not better. If you want you no DVD/CD fix, go to a digital store and get it. Screw publishers that pull this cra
That's bull. DRM all around. I think this is part of that game launcher crap they are using too. It's close to having a digital download without the benefits. I wouldnt' even put up with 1404 DRM, and I will certainly not go for this. Was also hugely looking forward to Settlers VII until... well this.
This girl loved the original UFO Defense. I lpayed it on Playstation and Computer, excellent game. It was tactical, strategic and extremely difficult. I wish they had continued the series and added some sort of co-op (online). There are a lot of turn-based games I don't have patience for these days, but this is not one of them.

If you invent something, shouldn't you have the exclusive right to sell it, simply because it belongs to you because you created it? Now, imagine a company that spends millions of dollars on a product. Without protection of their intellectual property, their competitors can sell the created product at a lower price, simply because they didn't spend a great deal of mo

However, I find it difficult to believe that a plan could not be formulated quickly. And despite what Newell said, I think the most likely situation is that the platform itself would be patched - Steam, for example - to remove the online authentication; any game currently installed would be avail
I think you'll find that if a service ever closed down, its licenced games would received patches that allow the player to play without the use of the service's platform. I believe Gabe Newell, from VALVe, has already stated that if Steam were ever to close - and it wouldn't be a blink-and-you'll-miss-it shut down either - then all of the games available on your Steam account would be unlocked before the shutdown. I'd say by the time most players reach their activation limit the game maybe costs $20. I certainly would never rebuy a game for over $20.
This seems to contradict itself. First you don't think company's are trying to get gamers to rebuy their games, but when they do it's going to be 20 or less. Which is it? If the former is

I don't know how much Cryptic got from Perpetual though since they didn't actually get any game code. Without transferring game code, I don't know you could say STO, as is, had been developed a long time. I mean the Away Missions is Champions Online with a Star Trek skin and very little tweaking. I kind of like space ship battles, but not enough, to really buy it at this point. I've purchased MMOs a year or two after launch before though. Maybe i'll give it go in a year or so to see if Crypti
