Just a quick note from a lurker to say a great big "Thank you" to Major Stress and the other modders who have worked--and are still working hard--on improving Sins of a Solar Empire. Just so you know that your efforts are all greatly appreciated. This mod, along with the Netbook resolution mod, have allowed me to play Sins on my Acer Aspire One (with 1 GB RAM!) virtually as smooth as on my desktop at home. So thanks again and keep up the good work!

I haven't seen this posted before, but apologies if it has already been noted. When you go to the menu to select a new demigod (for example, when skirmishing), click the little "arrow" to show the demigod's flavour text. Then, click another demigod. You will now see the other demigod with the flavour text superimposed on top of him/her. If you now click the little arrow again (to hide the flavour text), the large (and ugly) random demigod question mark will be superimposed on top of t
Glad to see that you found a solution, but your opening paragraph puzzles me somewhat:
Well of course I have. I wouldnt register for a forum account and post in this very thread had I not tried everything suggested on this forum to fix the problem. The solutions sound nice and technical but they dont actually do anything. I mean, yeah turning off movies seems to marginally improve performance, but clearly the issue is with the sound
I cant believe there havnt been any tweaks developed or real solutions to this problem besides turning off your sound. No sound really sucks!
Did you read any of the other possible solutions in this thread?
I think new maps are WAY more important than demigods (and probably cheaper to produce, because there is a lot less balancing to be done on them). I still haven't really played a lot with all the demigods, but I've played cataract and prison to death. Since most games played are 2v2/3v3/4v4, we need more maps that cater to those size teams. Adding new scenery always breathes fresh new life into a game.
I agree with this. I have
GUSTEPO , writing in ALL CAPS makes it seem as if you are yelling and that generally does not result in getting a helpful response. I also don't see the need to swear. (I also get very tired of ill-tempered people coming onto forums and implying that the developers/publishers/whoever don't care about their customers. Especially in the case of Stardock, that is simply untrue, and hence a rather malignant way of voicing your complaints. But I digress.) PCs are an inhe
You can also use the switch /nomovie and see if that increases performance. See also my reply here on how I fixed the sound problems: http://forums.demigodthegame.com/348232/page/6 (Apologies for the shameful plug.)
I had the same problem too. Going out and buying a new sound card didn't solve matters. In fact, it seemed as if my shiny new Creative sound card actually functioned worse than the onboard Realtek sound thingy I was using before. I finally managed to solve it by replacing the binkw32.dll file in the /bin directory of where you installed the game. The game uses version 1.9 (it actually has some additional numbers, but that doesn't matter), which apparently caused probl
