In order to colonize a planet you point a colony ship at the starsystem where the planet you want to colonize is. Then when the ship reaches that system it will bring the solar system sub map up on the right hand side. Then highlighting the planet will show a bit of text (I forget exactly what at the moment) asking if you want to colonize that planet. Just out of curiosity, is it possible you weren't using Colony Ships? Any other ship won't work.

The some of the tech messages in the alpha were from the OS/2 version, but these are only place holders until we finalize the tech tree. The tech tree in GalCiv will be greatly expanded from the OS/2 version so we couldn't just use the old text, even it we want to. Yeah, I think the goal is to make luck a factor, but not THE factor. I remember reading once about the targeting code in Wolfenstein3d, where they basically just kept reducing the odds the farther away the shot was. Needless to say from Doom on they've been using physics equations. Sander

While the concept of "Rogue States" and UP enforcement is interesting, it will ultimately have to be balanced against making the UP an active part of the game. Maybe Brad has a specific mechanic in mind regarding this, but I'm sure the parameters will change as different strategies immerge.

OK Sam, here's what you do: Choose the logon you want to export and then hit the export button. You will then be prompted where you want to write a .logonxp file for that logon. Upload the resulting .logonxp file to Wincustomize, and other people will be able to download and load it on their machines. Sander
