Yes, yes, yes! I'm also in favor of a ginormous manual. Something that remains useful, necessary, and fun to read long after you've mastered the game's controls. If E:WoM is harkening back to the old school days, then please do this for us.
Hm as a husband and father, I only have time to play 3 different games!
I feel your pain brotha! OLD: GalCiv2 Ultimate, TW: Kingdoms, King's Bounty NEW: King's Bounty-Armored Princess, Disciples III, Elemental Beta I really need to give Sins a try . . . just no durn time! King's Bounty for sure, especially if it's a story you're looking for. It isn't so much the pc game equivalent of a page-turner, but it is the most inventive and creative game I've played in a long time. Most of the dialog is either really interesting or extremely funny. It's simply a charmer. Oh . . . and it's great fun to play as well! http://www.kings-bounty.com/eng/ Disciples III is getting closer to laun
My objective here really is to make the game able to play Demigod so that my sons can play with me online. So turning it into a storage unit wouldn't work out there unfortunately.
What's the matter . . . don't they pay you enough scratch at Stardock? ;)
I had an old eMachine with a 2.0Ghz single core, AGP slot, etc.--very basic computer. But, I slapped in a $100 (or less maybe) GeForce 7600GS, discovered PC gaming for the first time, fell in love, and swore off consoles forever! Peeps complain about the cost of PC Gaming, but that setup (with some extra RAM too) ran Call of Duty 2 on high alongside the 360 at launch--not a bad feat! And like I said, it got me into PC gaming for life, so it was definitely worth it.
I had another good idea: missions should reflect upon your allignment as well. For instance, Drengin planets would most likely offer evil missions, Alatrians would offer good, Korx-neutral, etc. That way, the missions you choose to perform would alter your allignment just like the planetary events do.
There's always srtest, though I would like to see a more proactive trend of companies getting their games on there and such. It pretty much works, though is a bit different than what ye seek. www.srtest.com
This works great for desktops, but it can produce strange results on my laptop.
I use a Dell and I love it. It's my second one too and I've never had a problem. Even got a part replacement post-warranty once. You can "build" it exactly to your own specs and make a machine that works well for gaming without even buying into their XPS line. Whatever you buy, just be sure to Google some coupons so you can save a few hundred bucks. :)
Demo's are great ways to test performance on my computer
Actually, demos aren't alwayas a good indicator. For example, the Medieval II: Total War demo ran terribly on my system, so bad that I was disheartened that I wouldn't be able to play it. Then I bit the bullet and bought it anyway and it ran great.
is there a way for developers create a small file size, non interactive, program that will demonstrate how the game will run on a compu
All signs point to Star Trek inspired future. One day, we will actually own nothing, just be plugged into the network (Matrix?) and pull down whatever we want from human history instantaneously. Sounds good to me. It's greener too. Why fill your house with boxes and discs, plastic, paper, and cardboard when you don't have to? I've already quit buying DVD's and it was the best decision I've ever made. I now have the largest collection of films and TV on DVD
Nothing all that exciting going on, but it's nice to see some video finally! Keep em coming. :)
I second the motion for a podcast or transcript!
I've always felt that the flagship should be much more important than it is. It's nice that anomalies respawn now, which gives the flagship something to do for the entire game, but it seems like a ship that mirrors the Enterprise or another species representing ship should have some important things to do. What I'd love to see is: --Missions! Flagship stops at planets and picks up missions (sort of like Puzzle Quest) where they can get a reward for transporting a dip
question in what game was stardock big on single player.
Galactic Civilizations 2 was designed as a single player game only and Stardock seems fairly passionate about a good single player experience as seen in this thread: https://forums.galciv2.com/98074 As long as Demigod has decent AI I don't think a campaign is necessary. I just don't have the time nor inclination to play online, so I hope for a dece
Thanks for the comments everyone. It's just what I was looking for. :)
Forgive my noob question, but I've only just started investigating the game and wondered if there will be a worthwhile single player componant to it. It looks like a straight up multiplayer, but I know that Stardock are big fans of single player, so I hope the game will have something nice for us loners. :)
I was just watching the newest video from the game and noticed that the style of the game is very similar to the Battle for Middle Earth games. The fonts are the same and the graphics all look quite similar. Did people from the BFME team move to GPG or something? Or were the BFME games just a major influence? The fact that it looks like them has intrigued me more actually, so I'm not saying it's a bad thing. Also, Demigod's big gimmick is the RPG flavor, which BF
Quoting from the article: "For some, their presence on the list is a simple matter of having released nothing but great games that elevated their reputation from mere mortals to legendary beings. For others, it might be one moment that redefined what it meant to be a PC Gamer." (My emphasis) I think that Stardock could definitely fall under the one moment category at least. GalCiv2 redefined what expansion packs should be, and the gamers bill of rights is
Are there any amateur astronomers in the know that would like to hazard a guess as to the most realistic settings for starting a game of GalCiv2? I know that the game describes the map as representing folded space and is not meant to be a realistic representation of actual space, but the travel distance is still the same either way. So how many asteroids, anomalies, planets, stars, etc. would there be?
It should also be mentioned what comes in the box. (The packaging, BTW, is gorgeous). Updated, 100 page, hard copy of the manual with new stuff seemlessly integrated in. The quick-key card from the GOTY edition. One disc featuring the game and another featuring the soundtrack. The soundtrack, however, is merely the same one from GOTY with nothing new added. There is also a GalCiv2 desktop theme in the works and I hope it gets released soon! <
I am sooooo glad that there are multiple formats for the digital downloading of ANYTHING! Competition drives prices down, creates better services, which are in turn adopted by the industry as a whole, and provides variety and choices--all of which are a boon to consumers. One nice example: Amazon albums being DRM-free and oftentimes cheaper than iTunes albums! Bring it on, I say. Impulse vs. Steam rocks!
Ok everyone, the latest PC Gamer lists the top 49 greatest PC game devs and companies, purposefully leaving one out for the community to decide. I was utterly disappointed not to see Stardock or Frogboy anywhere on the list! So everyone email and let them know why Stardock should be #50. Some examples I included were: 1. No DRM/Disc in drive 2. Meaningful expansions w/community input, improved graph
I love Impulse too, but I really can't say I have experienced one single problem with Steam in years. This thread sounds just a meaningless whine from a newbie user, to me.
No, when I installed my physical copy of Dark Messiah Might and Magic, it checked with steam and then downloaded for a couple of hours and seemed to install all over again. When I uninstalled it, it left files all over the place!
Cool. Can't wait!
I can't figure out how to get the GalCiv2 Desktop Theme from the new Ultimate Edition (which is great BTW!). Has anyone figured out how to do so? It's advertised on the box, but I find nothing on either disc or on Impulse. Thanks for any help.
