Well, I finally got past the first hundred turns or so and the game is finally starting to feel fun! Thank goodness! Global mana rocks and the Ledger screen is a blessing. The game still doesn't seem to have that level of polish that GalCiv2 2.0 did, but it's unfair to compare two games at such different stages of their life cycle. That said, though I'm really beginning to finally enjoy the game a bit, I have to say some things are still unappealing to me.<

Ok, haven't played the game since December. 1.2 launches today and I rush right home to install and see if the game is good yet and . . . right off the bat a bug causes my hero to lose the option to equip when combined with other heroes. Then, playing on easy, a pack of spiders kills all three heroes on . . . turn 4 or 5 maybe? I hadn't even had the chance to create a scout or soldier yet and I'm dead already? On easy? This game continues to be a well

Now that's more like it! I thoroughly trashed the last updates regarding Fallen Enchantress because it didn't seem to offer much promise thus far. This list gets me excited though! I hope that these radical improvements will take the game more towards GalCiv II 2.0 territory like I've hoped all along. Kudos!

I totally stand by my earlier comments and was in no way making any kind of assumptions that future iterations of Elemental will be mediocre, only that judging from what has happened thus far, there's not a lot to be hopeful about. I appreciate the new hires and would like to see something positive stem from that, but I truly believe that this whole project has been borne from a tainted source: Brad Wardell's hubris. I used to think the man practically walked on water, and I think maybe

How terribly disappointing. Stardock is beginning to look like the crash and burn game studio of the decade. I've been patiently awaiting a "finished" product to show up after an expansion or two, but now, instead of making incremental inmprovements to a mediocre game, we now have a very good chance at receiving three, separate, mediocre games. Where is the logic in this? The world of Elemental isn't even very exciting. It is drab, monontonous and boring. I

I'm getting worried that the expansions are going to be like totally different games than vanilla Elemental. :( I'm pretty bored with the game now, and one of the things that keeps me excited is the prospect that we'll end up with something as fantastic as GalCiv 2 2.0 where it was a culmination of years of constant improvement into something really special. I hope we'll wind up with an Ultimate-ish version of Elemental as well, and not just separate, divergent paths from the

How about the rampant misspellings and poor english? Elemental feels like a Russian game with bad localization right now. Also, is anyone else annoyed by the cursor not changing from whatever it was last when the battle screen or diplomacy window is opened up?

This is probably the weirdest video game release of all time! I'm upset for the following reasons: 1. The developer with the best A.I. in the industry releases a game that is heavily criticized over its shoddy A.I. 2. The extremely long and heavily supported extended beta period did exactly the opposite of what it intended to do, leaving the launch day version feeling like more beta. 3. New firsts for Stardock like tactical battles and multiplayer either aren't i

I can't say whether I like scaling or not. It does kill that feeling of being a god in control of the little people when they start to stand toe to toe with mountains. I think scaling would work much better in a game like GalCiv, since the stars should be massive compared to the ships, but are not so in the game. I like leaving the option in for the player though, it should be up to them. p.s. What kind of performance hit does it have?

It is turn-based (we originally implemented this as a quasi-RTS system of continuous turns but it was such a different game experience that we ripped it out. If I want to play an RTS, I’ll play Starcraft 2). Amen to this!

1. I've always wanted to see "missions" for the flagship, and since Elemental is implementing quests as a major part of the game, it should be easy to transport that design over to GalCiv3. 2. I've been playing Sword of the Stars, which is a vastly inferior 4X game, but one really cool thing about it is the way each race not only plays different, but has different sound effects and speech, etc. It's almost like the interface is different for each race. I'd

Thanks so much for the Q & A. As a fellow Michigander, I am so appreciative of the fact that not only do we have such a cool company as Stardock in our state, but also that the head honcho is so open and friendly. On piracy: I nearly wanted to tear a DVD out of my player last night and fling it like a frisbie after it forced me to sit through 20 minutes of adds just to be able to play the movie! Paid 4 bucks to rent it at Blockbuster and was treated lik

I actually just got the game last month, and I'm just loving it. I'd hesitated for a long time, partly because I'm not the biggest RTS fan, but also because I spend most of my time on GalCiv2. I need to grab Entrenchment still, but I'm most excited about Diplomacy. In fact, it was excitment over seeing what Diplomacy was going to add that made me finally break down and buy the GOTY edition. Can't wait to hear more about it!

1. What kind of RPG are we talking here? Action-RPG? TBS-RPG? I hope it's something classic. 2. The RPG (which I have heard talk of before) will be part of the Elemental Universe? Does this mean Stardock is looking to start a franchise like Might and Magic? That'd be awesome! 3. Hey Frogboy, since you're publishing an Elemental novel, and you reportedly have tons of backstory for GalCiv, is there any chance you might publish a Gal

Well, I appreciate all of the hard work you're doing to keep 4x games on the shelves (dl queues?). GalCiv2 has really changed the way I look at games and I'm am so extremely stoked to get my hands on Elemental! In fact, I just made a big life change by moving into the workforce after a few years as a stay at home dad, and my gaming time has taken a severe hit. My decision to deal with this is to play Stardock games almost exclusively with what little time I have.

This is why I don't even expect to see females on forums for wargames. My wife won't go to any gas station after dark, because of the chance that sex-starved, crazy rapist/killers may snatch her sometime. It's a sad state of affairs, but there are some places that are dangerous for women to go to, and that goes for the internet as well. Kudos to you, Nesrie, for demanding the same amount of respect that is accorded to men on the net, but what you've effectively done now is o

Hey Brad, Would it be possible to add an option to make minor races part of the victory condition? I think it'd be nice if they weren't just there to be pushed around, but needed a little wooing, or what have you, to help you acheive your goals.
EtherLords 2, Nival Interactive. If you can find it. This is an animated card game, quite well done. It was never popular in the US for some reason. I really liked it. Ride around on a top level map. Enter special arenas for combat. Spell cards, ether, summon evil cabbages, snakes, bees ... you know the drill.
I had a great time with Etherlords 2. It was fairly brief, but fun while it lasted. A nice copy of the Magic CCG.
Heroes of Might
