Glad that I could be of some help to the patching process. Fixes look great, can't wait to put them through the gauntlet of MP and see just how close we've gotten to perfection, but I must say, this looks like its will be the closest yet (if not right on the money!). Lums haven't been touched, but with the substantial nerf to repulsion and the range boost to LF abilities, they'll no longer be unstoppable late game. Ooh and I can't wait to see that unused skybox Pawelo was talking abou
Sins of a Solar Empire: Diplomacy is a micro-expansion and requires the full version of Sins of a Solar Empire and Entrenchment to play.
Taken from the Store page. My guess would be that they will make it just like entrenchment, having a separate .exe to play. Since the multiplayer aspect of the game isnt its strongest selling point, I assume they won't be spending the time coding ICO to allow cross expansion play. You'll probably just have to exit and load a di

DArvin raises some good points, but I do things a little differently. First I always get the logistics upgrade in the very beginning right after I start building my first two labs. My reasoning behind this is with the 8 extra slots I can build 2 extra buildings right away, instead of waiting for my roid to be colonized and then its infrastructure and logistics upgraded, and I wont have to scuttle my cap ship factory right away for space if Im rushed (which could hurt me later If I sur

Bombers. Resistant to flak and still deadly to lrms (not quite as much as fighters) The idea being however, you must take down the lrms numbers so you can get at the flak with lfs. Most likely your opponent will start building more flak to kill your bombers, thats when you dockem and send in the lfs to start shredding some flak. Its tricky but manageable. just make sure you use your bombers and your own lrfs to drop his lrf numbers. Additionally setting your bombers on hold position will keep
"Other remnants of the Dark Fleet
That doesnt necessarily mean they are separated from the exodus fleet, although it could. Seeing as how its been 10,000 years since the dark fleets destruction, Im sure the exodus fleet probably rounded up all the suvivors way before they ran into the TEC. My guess is that they either leap frog eachother (as allegiance theorizes, so the Returning armada would come from the rear most position) or they move to an area, set up a temprary H

Great post, thoughful and full of insight and analysis. I take issue about 1 thing though.
A race that is atleast 1000 yrs technologicaly ahead of the TEC
I've gone over the lore several times, and haven't found anything that says that Advent technology is this superior (i mean think of where we were 1000 years ago, comparative to now, thats a massive gap in tech). I will concede that the lore does say Advent have "advanced ships", no doubt a result of years spe

Stick it out man we need more players! If you play a couple of games youre bound to find people of your own skill, then just add them to your friends list. Before long you'll have plenty of people you can play with who you know arent their to simply use you to boost your ego, like so many smurfing SOBs do. Alternatively not all smurfs are bad, (though the ones you described represent the worst). I know many smurfs who are skilled players looking to build an impressive record, and they
Instead of demanding a more equal playing field all the way across. Consider how it would effect the overall storyline.
The problem is that THERE IS NO STORYLINE! Its all just Lore about where all the races came from and why theyre fighting. And nowhere does it say that Advent are 1000 years ahead of TEC technology. It just says that 1000 years ago they were exiled by the TEC, that doesnt mean TEC tech is the same as it was 1000 years ago by any means. IF advent were su
Problem with assault cruisers is that meteor control outranges them, so this really doesn't solve the problem.
Like I said not cost effective, you can heal em but only for so long, they'll die, but if you can pump out enough you'll eventually wear the thing down. I suppose you could combine assault cruisers with ability interrupts like Detonate AM or.. (does magnetize work on structures? I dont remember) So theres that. The Halc + meteor isnt unbeatable, but its

The only things that makes the AI stronger as you go up in difficulty is the amount it cheats(gets more credit/resource income than you). It still uses the same predictable tactics, which is what annoyed me into going MP. I don't get gratification out of beating an idiot with a handicap. I'd much rather play against real people, where everyone has the same chance of winning. Unfortunately the games balance issues are skewing MP, but its still beats playing the AI.
The real balance problem occurs when you get Illuminators + some Flak + several Guardians w/ Repulse + a Progen + a Halcyon.
Take away the flak and its still a winning combo, and is still spam.
Getting mines instantly is actually a pretty signifcant econ boost.
I hadnt overlooked that fact, but youre right it is. My problem with it is that, being something physical and not passive, theres too many things that could go wrong to diminish its power. For example, lets say you conquer an enemy gravwell and leave your akkan bombing, while your fleet moves on to the next to wreak some havoc or destroy some production sites before too many reinforcements can be

But when there are two or more competing super economies, thats when it gets interesting. You have novaliths, kosturas and d.signals flying everywhere, upgraded starbases at nearly every planet, stars armed to the teeth and massive fleets clashing. Oh so much destruction, its rather lovely. I quite enjoy multistars when I have the time for them.
Most of the Marauders abilities need an overhaul. Phase Out Hull should be changed so that sub-light engines aren't disabled. Or it should become an ordinary disabling ability like Ion Bolt. Distort Gravity is rarely needed, but I can't think of any change except a longer duration or maybe even make it passive. Subversion should be like Embargo. The Egg's colonise should give 1/2/3 extra contructors.
I agree with
but its moments like those where im actually on the edge of my seat wondering just whos goona win and if my LRM's will take out his shields in time and who will win this kol vs kol firefight that make me feel glad i bought this game
One of TECs major strengths is their production rate. Try playing to that advantage and have frigate factories nearby ready to replace any frigates that are lost.
