Here is my belief: Most of the reviewers are used to games that are very polished and very intuitive. They are also probably used to an instruction manual and a tutorial. Let us face this fact, right now, this game has none of the above items. So, for the average casual gamer, this game will be beyond their understanding. This game, as it stands, will only appeal to people who are used to playing the civilization, the alpha centaris, the MOO, the MOM, and th

The PC Gamer article is mostly right. This game is not as polished as it should be. Will it be a good or great game? Who knows. However, it is not something the average person should throw money into. That is their opinion and there is nothing wrong with it. If you like to throw money into this game - that is your opinion and option as well.
Thank you all for all the responses. I gave it some thought. My mom's birthday already past and she got presents :)- The girl, I am interested in ... and I are still on the talking stage at work. Whats $49.95 or was it $49.99 ? I went and saw a great review... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahTehhLD5ec I willl skip the campaign
I will agree. If there is no advantage of a PRE-MADE versus a CUSTOM... why pick a PRE-MADE? However, many games do equalize them. Ever play the pen and paper D&D? You can get the pre-made characters for a specific scenario or make your own. Sometimes they are as good, sometimes better, and most of the time worse. It is time over effect. Are you willing ot make your own character or just pick one that fits you already? <p
The question people should be asking is ... Why do reviewers judge a game when it comes out? I believe many of these people believe that a game should be nearly complete when it comes out.
Lastly, when is the next patch eta ?
If you are a fan of 4X...buy this game. It's awesome, not perfect, but awesome. Don't listen to the haters...and it will only get better and better as time goes by, Stardock is incredible at supporting their games.
I am going to eat dinner. When I get back I will either buy this game or move on. But I want to be playing somethi
Hello, First of all, this is not a TROLL POST. This is a true post and a honest one. I have been a huge fan of the strategy games and te 4X games. I remember playing CIV 1 in college and flunking out of a math class because one of my friends bet me I could not beat the hardest mode in the game without using more than 2 saves. It took me a whole weekend but I did it! Then I remember playing the original MOO (Masters of Orion)
How do you post crash dumps? This is paid beta?
Guess we will wait until Civ V or a year to see if this game is around?
Known fact: Gamestop thinks PC games are not for you. PS3 and XBOX games are IN and PC games are out.
To the OP. I believe initially he is basically saying: With the previous games and other similar games the bar keeps getting raised. We no longer expect junk games and broken games at release. When we see polished games like (this is from other companies and genres) Bioware producing Dragons Age and Mass Effect 2, Blizzard producing the WoW expansion and StarCraft 2, Stardocks GalCiv II, Ironclad's Sins of a Solar Empire, Bethesda's fallout 3, and even the ol
