SOLVED: Windows 10 Anniversay update killed my wife's PC in Windows Discussion WinCustomize Forums

It gets as far as the login screen and never boots to the desktop. I tried to use a recovery disk to restore the PC and every restore point has been deleted and it fails the read the DVD! If I restore back to Windows 8.1 will I lose the W10 update or will MS recognize this PC was eligible for the free upgrade? HELP!!!!! Thanks! They were doiwn another level on Windows 10 but I found them. I will try to copy the folders to a different PC and see if Wb sees them without having to to actually install the .wba files. Thanks for the recommendation. I shuffled the monitors. The Samsung 24 " 1920x1200 is now on my work laptop (I work from home most days), my 27" Asus IPS with Bang and Olufsen sound is on my wife's laptop and the new BenQ will replace the 34" LG 2560x1080 I'll be returning when it arrives. I hope the image is as good as the Asus and Samsung monitors.

Never heard of the VA standard. Sounds interesting from what I just read. I think I'll take my corporate laptop (not the PC I will use the monitor with) to Best Buy and test it out on various 4K TVs. Maybe a 40" TV will be large enough to make the text easy to read in the 4K environment. Amazaon has a Samsung for under $500. Downside is it's only 8 bit, not 10 bit color.

I found a 32" IPS BenQ at Amazon in the resolution you mentioned. It's under $500 and looks good. While the ratio is 16:9 I definitely will get the extra real estate I want. Too bad an IPS 4K monitor at this size is so expensive! Funny that I can get a 40" or largher 4k TV for less money. I bought an LG 34 inch IPS 2560x1080 ultrawide screen monitor and like except it has issues with the display port. When connected through HDMI everything works perfectly. Through the DP, the monitor loses the signal. On bootup it disappears sometime after the windows icon appears. It also disappears if I turn off the monitoir and turn it back on. It seems to not know there is a signal being sent to it. Unplugging and replugging the DP cable restores the ima

What's interesting is it still works for one ofg mu hotmail accounts, just not both. As far as I can tell they are using the same protocols. I've been unable to fix it with a restore point and the Windows Live repair program no longer has the repair option, only uninstall. I wish I could get the export to Outlook 2016 to work however. I have a decade of email messages I'd like to save. Even if the export process had worked it's still will take 20 or more steps to move over email messages, accounts and contacts. Moving from one MS program to another should not require this much effort. I may try a system rollback

MS cripples Live Mail in Windows Discussion WinCustomize Forums

Live Mail was working perfectly yesterday but no longer. My research indicates MS has decided to cripple the program so that I'm forced to move to the Windows 10 Mail app. No thanks! The company for whom I work once gave away one of those at a trade show. What I didn't like about it was it had the capacity of a dustbuster. In other words, not much. Even if it did manage to cover the entire room where it's placed I can't see it picking up much more than some lint and fuzzballs.
