That way you cannot be too good at everything.
yeah, i agree with that in terms of the performance upgrades (speed, ammo etc) but with the ability upgrades, like reinforcements and artillery strikes and carpet bombings etc, i think by the time you reach the top rank you should have all these abilities... like i was saying, the better you do in combat etc, the more points, upgrades and promotions you get, so by top rank, you could get a tactical nuclear strike, b
I think that all planets should have one additional upgrade; - Military: ship build time reduced by 20% for that gravity well. - Economic: trade ports/population income increased by 10% for that gravity well. - Industrial: Metal/Crystal asteroids and refinery ships income increased by 15% for that gravity well. - Research: technology research time reduced by 5% for each planet with this upgrade. You could only choose one of them, t
I just came up with an idea: rather then going straight from FPS to RTS, the higher your rank, the more men under your command. A luitenant would fight like an FPS player but could give tactical commands. Eventually you become a non-cambatant who is "detached" from the battlefield. Forgive me if you have already thought of this.
idn... i wasnt thinking of this so much, i was thinking more like you can choose who plays as the RTS player and who plays as an FPS player. bu
everything sounds good... i like your ideas... i just noticed though that you often avoid using missiles in your TEC designs? and also, just an idea, why dont you replace one of the weapons types on one or both of the Advent ships with the psionic surge ability from the starbase? they dont use it very much so i thought it would be a nice opportunity. lastly, im wondering what strengths these ships would have? you know like how LRF is effective vs LF and Carriers and Fi
And you didn't say whether you wanted the lancer class?
didnt I? im sorry, yeah, well, go for it and we'll see afterwards what you come up with!
Taking a nap and having the blood boil in your veins would be in relation to the two simplistic methods of ending a ground assault by an alien race that can't blow up your ships, stun them all or beam them out into space.
ahh... it all makes sense now, very good, cheers =)
1. Researchable Sova Upgrades: make it launch more SC's... Simple enough. 2. Rearcheable Kol Upgrades: Gauss Cannon=>Railgun. Yields a very high increase in damage and range but decreases firing rate somewhat... 3. Make the Phase Missile Swarm act like phase missiles!!!!! (as is, they cannot penetrate shields...)
1. yeah, that was the idea. but early game SC would be overpowered because there would be nearly no way to counter it, hence the resea
the number of posts by devs is reversely proportional to the amount of progress made in the game. there. something that sounded smart.
Speaking about sounding smart, I believe you meant "inversely proportional" not "reversely proportional". =P
Interesting idea. So the FPS player is given objectives by the RTS player?
not so much strategic objectives as much as tactical ones. Strategic objectives (like primary objectives, the ones you need to do to win the game/mission and move on) will be given by the game itself, chosen by the developers. and to spice it up we can even have those change, based on a number of factors including layout of the map (for instance, one objective could be clear an AA battery, but, i
Internet? We just got the steam engine where i live? =P jokes, but seriously, its pretty inevitable the the internet will crash one day. despite all the wireless and satelite advancements etc, the basic stuff still uses wires and chips, and older servers wont be able to cope. its like a cities sewerage system. when it was built, if done properly, it would have been able to accomodate the needs of that city for many years and be able to cope with some moderate growth. but
Quoting GeneralEtrius, reply 16 Hey, the game is no longer crahing, but there seems to be a bug. Spolier alert: At the end of the Relic phase, you have to fight several Koreans in order to get picked up. I killed them, and the plane still wont come. Has anyone had this problem? I had the exact same problem, I had to restart the level to complete the game. Once I
you can't see the missiles probalby to conserve graphics space, as well as game space. i think it would be pretty annoying to see missiles everywhere from LRFs instead of the actual ships themselves, as missiles will outnumber ships in that case
so... make the glow smaller than the ship? as it stands, at the right zoom level, you can still see weapons fire (lasers etc) while some of the smaller ships have already converted
Star Trek is original, more intelligent, more provoking, and more in-depth.
You're all forgetting that most of the weapons in-game would use antimatter as the source of their destructive force
um... no? honestly, abilities use anti-matter primarily as a lore-friendly way of explaining why you cant fire your Gauss round, or use seige planet, or phase missile swarm whatever every 10 seconds, as well as creating a way to prevent ships using abilities or enabling them to use abilities for longer (i.e. AM stealing abilities, Magnetic Clouds and Suns

no new ideas/opinions?
So alot of people complain that they cant see the Missile Barrage when it fires and i, in general, cant see missiles fullstop unless im zoomed in close enough to read the magazines in the lavatory (sorry for the exaggeration) Anyway, i know IC just changed the effect for the Missile Barrage, but i was thinking, in the middle of a battle with weapons firing everwhere red exhaust will still be hard to see... So, i just saw a reall nice graphics mod where the tips of the missiles
Did you catch the idea about phase space capable bombers? Those might be able to do it.
i did, whats to stop a starbase upgraded with fighters wiping you out? and, i you keep the current effectiveness of bombers vs structures, whats stopping me jumping a whole load of bombers into your most heavily defended worlds, wiping out your structures and whatnot, then jumping to the next planet, always one step ahead of your pursuing Carrier or Flak fleet? it seems a bit
sorta, im thinking like research needs to be done in order to build the ship in the first place. just like atm all advanced frigate and cruiser prototypes require research before you can build them, the same applies here but with capital ships however, you raise an interesting point... for the later game Capital ships (as opposed to the starting destroyers, as ill call them) choosing which upgrades you can have on one ship (like a starbase) would be a good idea. im not sure abou
What keeps these aircraft at bay are fleet defenses like Aegis crusiers. We need a better AA type of cruiser, and AA on our capital ships. That way, a carrier fleet could strike and then run, but the SC losses would make carriers weak in long battles. Another thing that should be added is a cost per squad. Make this cheap, but everytime a fighter/bomber is replaced you get hit again. Something like 10 per fighter/bomber, so a fighter squad would be 50 or so. This way, a carr
I do like your idea of researching to make the current ablities better.
thankyou, but i was actually saying you would need to research to get better cap ships with better abilities, but yeah, i guess it could work. a counter-measure system for caps would be quite good, it would give them another distinction over cruisers, who also have mitigation. as for countering illum beams, we could "equip caps with a special shield generator which specifically deplo
Mansh00ter, did I just see a Sova carrier be destroyed....and sink? No, forget sink, did I just see it fall? So much for physics.
Usually, you would be right (and in this case you are), but there are some cases where a ship could be destroyed and start sinking like a naval ship. for instance, if you are very close to a gravity well, close enough that you have to use your engines to maintain position, as soon as the engines cut out, the ship will start to fall
Give the shipyards access to the "tactics menu" or whatever it's called that allows us to set engagement ranges and fleet settings.
