The Radiance has Cleansing Brilliance which when used with Malice is a fleet destroyer...
Actually, i was thinking of either improving existing abilities if not giving them new ones. for instance i think the vasari dreadnought... i forget the name... has a phase missile swarm ability... see where im going? give that the range and power of m
carrier caps are not useless, just take a look at the Halcyon man. Repulse? Definately a good one. An an ability that gives you more fighters, a great one. What was the other one? Oh yeah, amplify energy, the one that gives all energy based weapons a lower cool down time. Just surround the halcyon with illums and you have powerful and fast beams comming out. And the last one, which is pretty cool,
I remember at one point three fighters destroyed a klick and a half long ship because they managed to sneak in behind it and salvo all their missiles into it.
And people complain about Focus Firing in Sins... Just like in Freelancer (a spaceflight simulator with RPG elements, a REALLY good game, you should try it) Sure, there are Battleships (which double as carriers) and Cruisers but most of the game is made up of small one man fighters and, to a lesser
2. We need an option to turn the annoying AI chat off. Can't say I understand why it gives hints about what planets it's about to attack anyway. So, I'd like the ability to turn off the annoying AI chat. (In the online multiplayer game we generally regard AI as being almost completely worthless and we don't want to read the AI's screams about how its planets are being bombed or it's pathetic threats to bomb our planets.)
yes, it must be a missile, because the explosion would have to be 250 km over the central US in order to be effective)
Didnt you ever watch James Bond: Golden Eye? The one with Peirce Brosnan and the driving the tank through Moscow and the EMP blasts etc etc? Anyway, in case you didnt see it, the Russians had been experimenting with EMP blasts, and so put a bunch of nuclear warheads above what appeared to be communication satelites. Then they were detonated, the
You know, ive read all the active posts on the forum that interest me. So i went looking around. I had a look in Demigod (dont ask what posessed me) and there is a Sub-Forum there called Demigod journals. You know what that is? a Forum dedicated to all the goings on of Demigod. Ideas threads, Change Log threads, whats-being-done-this-week threads, all you would/could ever want to know about a game you love (if you go on the forums you must like it). I realise Sins is made by a
more?
MORE?!?!? YOU WANT SOME MORE?!?! - Oliver Twist
They actually went quite considerably over budget for Entrenchment, but since they promised it for $10 they decided not to raise the price.
yeah, makes sense. it would explain a reluctance (if any, remember ShadowHal said he thinks he heard of someone from SD or IC saying something like, nothing against you ShadowHal i just dont want to start treating this as fact just yet =P) to continue with micro-expansions, and releasing the last 2 X-packs together for a bigger cash
So i was just thinking about carrier caps, and how they are largely useless (and, seperately, how other cap ships could become more powerful). I read one post that proposed (in addition to new abilities/weapons etc) Carriers carrying many more squadrons of SC initially, and ultimately leveling up until it had like 12 or 15 squadrons at level 10. Then alot of people said (correctly) that that would kill the early game because there would be no counter to it. Everyone wou
i personally use the cielo alot (well, enough, i dont exactly spam them) i was just remembering that a few people had issues with its survivability vs combat effectiveness (abilities aside), so i was mentioning it in case anyone wanted to comment =) one another note, do you want to propose changes to carrier caps to make them more viable? im not sure about the other two races, but i know the sova is all but useless.
I do have a little theory, it probably amounts to nothing, but I just thought 'hey, maybe'. I think I heard someone of SD or IC post that they weren't entirely happy by how the concept of mini expansions was accepted. I have no clue about sales figures, I'd still say that entr. sold fairly well, and it did get generally good reviews, but the issue of 'content' did come up as a con sometimes. so, maybe, they hold off a bit and bundle #2 and 3 together somehow. might help get more attent
yeah, im just jumping on here... and i cant be bothered to read the last 10 pages i do know this though, according to Star Trek canon, Plasma weapons are quite weak vs Federation (and most other types) of shielding and armor. conversely, Star Trek particle weapons can be modulated to bypass shields or overload them (you know, targetting certain systems like engines, weapons, shields etc) not to mention the hellishly powerful Mk IX photon torpedos (ST:Voyager, im not sure if DS
much
...much =P
i was reading an interview from Blair Fraiser and the interviewer asked him about the really involved communities, and asked about some of the weirder requests, and one that blair himself brought up was individually moving turrets and he said that yes, while aesthetically pleasing, the extra CPU load was huge so they cut it yeah, graphics are nice, but if they mess with the game, cut it
no. we are talking about an automatic cinematic camera function that moves the camera around the battlefield, zooming, panning, moving around, focusing on diff objects from different angles, just as if you were watching a movie
Don't know how practical that would be for gameplay in sins
its not for gameplay? its for when you just want to sit back and watch, or make a video. there have been a bunch of times where i was watching a battle and thought, you know, this would be a great game to make a movie with (considering my laptop is pretty powerful all the graphics etc are maxed so it looks delicious =P) except i never had the patience to do good camera work, and i really didnt
flak for caps. i know its been stated before, but these ships are huge, theres no reason they couldnt have some. especially the carriers, it just makes sense (or at least to me)
If you want hardcore space battle realism, read "Night's Dawn" trilogy by Peter E. Hamilton. Battles last for ten seconds max and ships melt like icecream cones in a blast furnace.
THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING OF! and the Commonwealth Saga and Dreaming Void Trilogy...wow, fun stuff, i didnt want to go that far though, i mean hyperspace missiles and relativistic weaponry is not only mindblowing to the casual gamer, but i tink waaay to incredibly powerful for a game =P<
yes, i know about the betas, they still have to build the beta though. and really, i dont mind about the release dates, i mean, frogboy made a post here some time ago saying that Diplomacy will come out later, some time in summer, and i was truly surprised because i didnt expect anything about release dates for at least a few more months. its not the release dates that worry me, i was one of the people telling the people whingeing to can it and be glad thay have such high stan
If flaks were getting any kind of boost, I'd prefer if flak frigates reduced missile damage.
except the Advent dont use missiles? does unbalance it a fair bit
plus the biggest thing of all, sure, the novalith is a missile... but the deliverance engine is a psychic burst, and the kostura is some sort of energy weapon... last time i checked... bullets dont hurt energy or crazy angry-girl-scout mental powers and, to be entirely honest, ICBM's today move so fast unless you are standing in front of it you will be VERY lucky to hit it. you most likely (99.99999% wont) so an InterPlanetary Ballistic Missile is going to be impossible to hit
Well.. there is a tiny bit of friction, but you won't notice it unless you are going 99.999% of the speed of light though... (two hydrogen atoms per cubic meter)
true. also, friction can occur depending how close you are to an atmosphere
No friction in space, the greatest bane of sci-fi!
very true, however there would be gravimetric shearing (basically, gravity from large objects in space like capital ships or starbases, asteroids/moonsm planets, anomalies (the last one meh but we dont know right?) causes inertial weapons to go off course... depending on the size of the slug and a few other things) as well as other things like a nearby explosion could throw slugs off their trajectory. <p
