this has been around for a bit before the updates, i just didnt know where to post, but when you edit a thread of yours, and it asks the reason for editing, the field where you type is very small and the text is microscopic (not exaggerating) its not a problem, per say, but surely something easy to fix
it has the red button. that ability alone can totally destroy every single ship in your enemies fleet.
oh man, i love that red button, when im playing against a few unfair AI's and they decide to gang up on me, I pulled my fleets back a few worlds, and let the enemy fleet engage my SB, when they all go within range and the SB was nearly out of health, i pressed the big red button. oh man, about 2000 fleet supply went poof =) then the next world the same, oh man, it was
You can build only one starbase but a full load of defense turrets. Only if you build all turrets at the same spot it is the same problem because the enemy could pass it and bomb either the planet from a save point or blast the defense step by step.
yeah, and starbases are alot more powerful than single turrets, it balances out. it either the same because its all built in one location so its bypassable, or its over an area, in which case it can be taken out quickly, or
Isn't that what you're doing? At least his "whine" was about the game. Do you really think its more worth people's time reading your post than his, when yours is about nothing, and his is actually about the game?
id rather not read it fullstop. someone from Stardock said it nicely (forgive the paraphrasing) there's critisising, complaining, and attacking. this may not be attacking, but its definitly not (constructive) critisism, so basically, he's

i have to agree generally with Zubaz and his position. its a bit hipocrital for me to say, since i recently had a run in with Blair Fraiser because, when asking for some more regular/detailed updates (as in news updates) for Sins, he snapped at us and said, look, we could always do what other companies do, give you the silent treatment until we can shove a half assed product on you and all we were asking for was a 5 min post somewhere central and easily located to say whats been

(sorry, cbf to edit) also, there is also the thing that SB's are supposed to be defensive platorms the Vasari SB is a defensive structure but also an offensive one, hence why it can move your OP question could also have been asked of basic defense turrets (gauss, beam, missile) you cant move your basic turrets, so how do you get around the enemy fleet being able to evade? well, you just have to put them in the right place and hope for the best

i personally prefer to defend the GW, not just the planet. for instance, i put my SB at the edge of the GW, but alot of people prefer to defend the planet, so they put all their structures, defenses and SB in a tight knot around the planet. this way, enemy fleets can more in your space, but at least they cant take planets i prefer to fortify systems with a bunch of mines, repair bays, hangars and gauss, and make it so they pretty much have to jump face first into some sort o

i have to say im not a great fan of playing as pirates i mean, as it stands, they have, what, 6 different kinds of ship? playing pirates as they are now is not really my idea of fun, basically they are too simplistic also, IC would have to develop an entire balance system for them, including economy, research tree, capital ships... and then there is lore to consider, how it fits in... after all, we are playing a game about empires, how does playing pirates fit in?

yes, as it stands now. why not make it that, lore wise, the pirates have some sort of mine that is deployed between worlds and disrupts phase engines, maybe an EMP or something i mean, sure, the lore also says phase destabilisation (i.e. that defensive structure, i always forget the name) is a technology that is widely a mystery, but an engine that can take you from one planet to the next in a few seconds has to be something rather complex, and, therefore, easy to disrupt

im fairly sure the Ai is getting a makeover in the next X-pack, i mean, it'll have to to cope with the new functionality, so i dont see why they wont upgrade tactical abilities at the same time
One thing I'd really like to see is the "Flagship" title for Capitals
alot of people have asked for this or a slight variation (admirals that have to be manually deployed to certain caps etc) i dont see why IC shouldnt implement it
The only problem with this (that the developers will not make it happen) is that by following a single trade ship, you could, effectively, scout where enemy borders are.
perhaps it requires scouting before it works? also, if in the new X-Pack other empires are set to neutral to you at the start of the game, rather than hostile, then there is no problem?
maybe in the pirate part of the 2nd expansion?
thats what i meant
Most uncolonizeables in your own territory end up with starbases
so perhaps we make a new kind of GW that cannot have an SB? magnetic clouds already do this i believe... i mean, lets think outside the box, why not give pirates a way to disrupt phase jumping, and attack trade ships etc half way between GW's?

If they are doing the planets, why not include the graphic mods, and the volumetric also?!
not quite sure what you mean here... but for instance, i hear Bailknights graphic mod is very popular, (but since i cbf to downgrade to 1.05 i havent tried it) if its so good, and the Devs think its worthwhile, why not incorporate it?
pfft, the Enterprise lost because the empire chimed in from nowhere, and Vader used his stupid force powers. i mean, he needed the Enterprise to answer his damn phone call in the first place! =P besides, if it was shoot first and ask questions later, i dont think Star Wars Repulsor Shields could withstand an assault from Star Trek

I was thinking, pirate attacks, atm, usually start outside your empire and have to fight their way through your fortified front line planets to do any damage, and even then, its rare they go further than the first planet anyway so, in keeping with a few ideas in other posts (namely, pirates become more cowardly, using more guerrilla tactics and maybe even running before winning all bounty) i was wondering if anyone would like pirates to be able to 'appear' in UCGW's within you empire
with Entrenchment you have a deep space constructor that builds starbases what if in later release it could build an ark or colony in a new area of space that is just empty (it could be called empty space) or mabey make them buildable in certain areas like space junks or space plasma storm, gas giant or magnetic storm. That could make those areas of space more important and add a new element to the game. I Think These home made colonies co
