ok, have to be honest, the very first impression was "eww, why do people talk so highly of this?" It is VERY overwhelming if you just dive in and try to figure it out. However, after watching through the tutorials, and actually reading the manual a bit, and giving it a second chance, I can say this has potential for some awesomeness. Adjusting to the change of pace is a challenge though. Is there any way to speed things up, especially at the beginning? Or do I just need to focus on si

good enough enodrsement for me, dowloading now, thanks :)
I love Sins, and am considering buying the GAlCiv2 pack. I was wondering how Galciv compares to Sins. Same depth of strategy, but with more of a storyline, or what? I am not a fan of multiplayer, so I won't miss that
something came to me at work (monotonous drudgery leaves the mind to wander).. about the Op, about Science replacing God.. in a sense, it has happened. We have accumulated such a vast amount of knowledge through the ages, research based on research, based on research that we don't question everything anymore. Some things, in Science, are taken "as a matter of faith". From time to time, these preconceptions are revealed to be incorrect and Laws are rewritten. This, to me,
here is an idea to make pirates a threat in late game... Instead of them sending 1 attack at 1 system, make it so if you are the target, Every system has a chance of recieving an attack. Base the percentage on threat level (maybe a waste considering late game it will be high, although it might help keep from being wiped early game) and something like system trade income, or tax rate or something.. And i am not saying make it like the TEC revolt research, where they just materi
One thing that irks me about all these "God vs cience" threads.. At some point, someone brings up the Bible.."just pick up a Bible and read it.." etc.. The Bible is the holy book of 1 religion, 1 of the predominat 3, out of HUNDREDS of religions in existence. Even IF God were to exist, assuming he is the one portrayed in the christian Bible is a bit arrogant. in response to "pick up a Bible", pick up a Koran, pick up a Torah, pick up the Bhagwat Gita, study Buddhism, s
some of the points in this thread speak more about the need for further education than for the existence of God. Spurious Logic, or good Logic based on outdated or false presumptions can only lead to inaccurate and ill fated conclusions. Heisenberg's uncertainty principle will preclude Man from ever fully understanding the Universe. Man is part of the Universe, and his very observations will sckew the results. For God to Omnipotent, he would have to exist outside the Universe
thank you, thank you, thank you.... for updating this.. uh.. the updated files don't seem to do anything... is it a patch to the other mod, or the complete mod itself? please help, because this mod adds so much to Sins, and I truly miss playing with this mod, to the point of just not playing if i can't use this mod
add Flak to Starbases add a minesweeping ability to constructors (having to halt your advance 10 mins to clear a world you took of 100+ mines is annoying)
Personally, I am not a fan of diplomacy beyond it's strategic uses of keeping that guy from attacking you while you kill that guy over there. I tend to just lock teams anymore and ignore that whole aspect of the game as it is now. Personally, to get me to buy this expansion, it would have to totally revamp diplomacy to be interesting and useful, or else add other new aspects beyond that such as incorporating Uzii's Sins Plus mod. The added variety of planets in that now mostly abandoned
I like the idea of seeing the race the Vasari are running from. Not to sound like a broken record with the balance thing, but the Vasari are supposed to be more advanced than either the TEC or Advent. The race that the Vasari are running from is way tuffer than they are, so to make the game realistic compared to the lore, the new race would just walk all over the other races with out much or any losses. That
Ironclad's first round is against SOE. Finally a chance to get my revenge on them for ruining my game (EQ) Muhahahaha!
I had the same issue, while playing TEC, when building from a starbase with lvl 1 construction. It wouldn't deduct from supply until after the ship was built, and would let me queque up ships WELL beyond the available supply. It would also let me build 1 ship beyond was was available (supply would go into negative, and it wouldn't build any further, even though they were still in queque) This only effected the one starbase, not others that were developed to lvl2, nor did it effect any
just one tactic I wanted to share against the AI. assuming you have diplomacy active, building starbases at your current allie's worlds, or anywhere there is a ceasefire, can be effective. If the cease fire should end, or the alliance end, you can cripple that oppenent. when I did this(playing as TEC), I did full upgrades on the tradeport, hangers, and armor. The only system I had any problems with was one where the AI had a somewhat upgrded SB in also. Sent my fleet to support that f
I am going to get a prepaid Visa myself. Those are available at target's and walmarts. you pay a service fee, like $3 or so, but it's an option.
I too have wondered what exactly are the victory conditions, or what exactly makes an AI quit? there have been more than one occasion where I have had an AI quit, when they still had 3-4 planets, and a massive fleet. Yet other times, an AI in a clearly hopeless situation will still keep trying (backed into 1 system, an asteroid, and still sending 1-2 frig's at a fully developed system, with massive defenses and such). A couple of times, I realized I left superweapons on auto-f
That was decades ago, when missile guiding system were primitive. Technology has greatly advanced since then. The usefulness of a gun on aircraft is still debated. On the other hand, the A-10 Thunderbolt II's cannon is extremely effective on the battlefield.
just for clarification, the cannon on the A-10 is effective for taking out tanks in a close air support/ground attack role. it's effectiveness against other aircraft is questionable (although IF it hit something, th
Hey, darvin, that map sounds cool, did you upload it anywhere, by chance?
newb here.. but I've already stopped using flak frigs, as they appear to be useless...(and strikecraft are way overpowered) IMHO, they are way underpowered. They should devastate strikecraft, period. Just a few Flak frigs should be able to remove those annoying hordes of swarming fighters and bombers, creating zones of "Fly in, but no fly out" areas in the grav well. Maybe bumping up the cost of them in materials, and in fleet would be a balance for increasing their power, alo
