Thanks for the tips, guys. I am beginning to develope a strong love-HATE relationship with mines. love placing them in my systems, but I HATE, absolutely HATE HATE HATE HATE!!!! attacking a fully upgraded system with a few hundred mine placed at the jump point. It takes at least 20 min just to attack the place, let alone rebuild it when I'm done.

Thanks guys, that helps. I'm still getting used to the new tactics for Entrenchment.
Ah. Does the scout need to stay in-system while the mines are being destroyed?
I see your points, I just don't totally agree. A dozen or more squadrons of fighters in the system gives enemy bombers pause. Also, the TEC starbase has the ability to disrupt phase jumps causing damage to enemy craft when leaving the system. A very nice thing if your enemy decides to retreat 'cause mopping up is that much easier. But, hey! There's no one right way to play the game. That's what the forums are for. To see what other players
Sounds like things are coming together. As for pirates, it's always a good investment to spend credits on bounty to get them to attack you opponents. If nothing else, it keeps them occupied while you build your own fleet and defences. I also find researching and building the heacy cruiser is one of the best investments in the game. It eats frigates and most other cruisers for lunch. Happy gaming!
Desert plannets are a great place to put extra trade ports and refineries. I do it all the time. I think they are one of the most valuable planets for that reason.
Wow. Sorry to hear that. I personally use Steam and Impulse, love them both. I think they're kinda like cars, you get a car, love it, it loves you; but someone else absolutely hates it, and the car hates them back. I have no idea why this happens, even thought I've been on both ends of it. Anyway, I hope you get everything worked out!
I personally LOVE the TEC, just guns, guns, and more guns. Your first Capitol ship is free, no matter what race you are. All you need to do is build a capitol ship factory at your home world (I'm sure you noticed that you get a frigate factory free at startup). Personally, I fill the first 100 fleet credits this way, 1 capitol ship (I usually go for the Akkan-class Battle Cruiser because of the colonize ability and the ion beam), 1 Colony frigate, 2 scout frigates (each of t
My own quibble is that Starbases tend to not be worth the huge upgrade costs.
Just wondering what you mean by that? What race do you play? I play TEC and absolutely love the starbase. I'm kinda a strikecraft fan, so having an extra 8 or 14 squardrons in a system is sweet. Also the fact that you can put 4 starbases around a sun is awsome. 56 squadrons plus all the weapons on those bases make for a VERY hard nut to crack. I haven't seen
Speaking of depleteing antimatter, the TEC's Akkan-class Battle Cruiser has the Ion Bolt ability that disables all abilities and even shuts down weapons and engines on the targeted enemy ship. With this ability upgraded farther, the cool down time is only double the duration time of the ability, so using two of these ships together and manually casting the ability is a tactic that I use agains powerful enemy Capitol ships. One downside, this doesn't work on starbases.
So make it such that the enemy can't see which ship is your flagship.
I like that idea. In real naval battles it isn't always obvious which on is the flagship. Usually the most powerfull, but not always.
I play the TEC and I cannot figure out a way to get rid of enemy mines. I know the Scout Figate can detect them, but I don't know how to destroy them. Other than running scouts or light frigates through them, but that's heartless and not economically sound.
I play the TEC pretty much exclusively, so I'll just tell what I use for them. I usually have two mutually supporting repair stations, 5-7 hangars, and fill the rest in with Gauss turrets. All of these structures support at least 3 or 4 of their fellows. If you play entrenchment (if you haven't yet it is totally worth the $10) starbases are a deffinite must for planet defense. At least with the TEC there is an upgrade option (I think it's called auxillary
You are not alone in your map makeing troubles, Arch_84 . I have tried makeing maps for Entrenchment, changed the version number and all, added the file name to the manifest.galaxy file, changed the map count in the same file, and the maps STILL WON'T WORK! I tried getting answers on my own
No Problem. Loved the story. LOL That is weird. I think we can safely call that a minor glitch. Strick craft should not survive a blast that kills their mothership.
I've only noticed it when there is alot going on already. Like you're build a couple of planets at once and several structures finish within a couple of seconds of each other, reasearch is done at the same time, and a phase jump is completed. just to much going on for the voice to say it all. That's the only time I have noticed this.
Nice video. I wish my system could run Sins on that high of a graphics setting. look great
LOL that is a great story! I'm relatively new to the game and was wondering about that particular ability and if it was worth it. It seems to have a very specific, but highly effective use. Cool! P.S. I think that story deserves some Karma[e digicons][/e]
I think the idea of a "super ship" has some merit, but would take a LOT of careful planning so the first person to build this ship doesn't just steamroller everyone else. You can do that already if you build the max number of capitol ships (16), pay for the first few upgrades, add a few carrier and support cruisers and put them all in one fleet. As for busting starbases, all you need to do is build a secondary fleet that consists of 6-10 of the new sturcture busting cruiser (the
Good advice on the starbases leejaywu. Personally I play the TEC and have two strategies for placing starbases. My overall game stategy is to fortify and upgrade every planet completely, as well as building the max number of structures possible. I also put pretty much all my structures in a small area so the tactical structures can defend the logistic structures. On planets that have a low tactical count (25) I build three or for hangar platforms and fill the
it sounds like you need to edit the galaxy.manifest in the entrenchment folder add the extra maps names to the bottom of the file and alter the maps count at the top.
I did that and ran into two problems. First, the game would show an error screen at startup and crash. Second, the game would start, but the map wouldn't show up in the game. What should I do now? P.S. All you veteran gamers out there are probably t
I'm still not figuring everything out. I was able to get the default maps from Sins to work in Entrenchment, but can't get any user made maps to work. What should I do?
I am not able to get maps from the original SINS to work in Entrenchment. I can't get downloaded maps to work either. I've tried changeing the version numbers in the notepad file and that didn't work. Can any one help?
