Apparently, assuming all things are to scale, the caps are about the width of Asia.
LOL, the planets do look a little small when compared to larger structures like refineries and starbases, don't they? Starbases look darn near the size of the planet!
I have an issue like this, but I don't know where to go to open my ports. I'm not very techy, so use one syllable words, please.[e digicons][/e] BTW I run on XP.
I just downloaded the new patch, but the game freezes every time I try to start it from Impulse. I've restarted the system, I installed the Sins patch, then Entrenchment patch. The really wierd thing is I can start the game from the start-up menu with no problem. Is it an issue with Impulse, or just a heavy amount of traffic because of the new patch? Any ideas, anyone?
Just because a lot of people believe something is imbalanced, doesn't make it so.
True. I don't think the game is imbalanced, or even this aspect of it. I'm just throwing my opinion out there with all the other opions.[e digicons];P[/e]
I think the biggest problem with carriers is not the number of SC or anti fighter tech, instead its the idea that you're supposed to spend time swatting fighters and bombers like as many gnats, if that's your objective you're never gonna win. Instead I think the problem is that carriers are so dang tough, especially Advent carriers. I'm speaking of the light/jeep carriers. In every show/space opera/table top game/computer game i'v
I am incredibly glad to see that custom made maps will now work in Entrenchment without having to jump through a bunch of tech hoops. I, for one, am not tech savy enough to understand these things. I'v had people try to ehlp me do them, but my un-tech-savyness kept me from being successful. My thanks to the devs for fixing this.
I think a sense of scale for ships and structures would be awsome. It's one thing that's lacking in the back story of the Sins universe. To the devs, do you have any input on this?
Whoa you guys are stillc rying about carriers? Dear god someone forgot to buy Entrenchment I guess. I have won probably 30 games of Entrenchment without making a single carrier thus far.
For the record, I have Entrenchment, love it, recommend it all the time. Yes we are still talking about strike craft and carriers. There are enough threads on this topic still going it is obiously important to a large number of gamers out there. Maybe you don't use the
Now those are some good looking screen shots!
but would it be tougher than all 3 empires who, having overcome their differances, have banded together? Food for thought there.
WOW! That would really really REALLY change the game as we know it. A good point though. Might work if told right.
I can agree with some of what you are saying, The_Rezonator_1 . However, the whole game is based on infinite ammo and fuel. No ship ever has to refuel and rearm, and they repai themselves automatically, too. I don't think it makes sense to change strike craft and not any other ship.&n
Rather than sub-factions, I'd rather see a much smaller number of completely new factions, like whoever the Vasari are running away from. A lot more creative potential in that, and for some reason I think it would be a bit easier to balance.
I like the idea of seeing the race the Vasari are running from. Not to sound like a broken record with the balance thing, but the Vasari are supposed to be more advanced than either
Thanks for clarifing, Hack78. I understand where you are coming from on this, and I agree with you. Haveing this ship at the beggining of the game would most deffinitely be a game breaker. In post #20, scootergtm says that if the ship is going to exsist, it should be a researched ship. I agree with him in post #22 and say it should research around the time of the Kodiak Heacy Cruiser, mayber between the Percheron Light Carrier and the Kodiak. This give time to re
I'm sorry, Hack78 , I did not follow what you said in your post. I can't tell when you're talking about a carrier cap or light carriers. I want your oppinion, I'm just not clear on what you're trying to say. I should clarify, if there are more squadrons added to a carrier cap, it should not keep the shield and hull
I like the idea of moons and defences on them. The only thing I have to add is that with Entrenchment, everything about a planet's defensive system just got harder. Starbases, mines, upgraded hangars, upgraded gauss platforms. I just think we need to be careful about putting in yet more defences into grav wells that are already insanely hard to take (at least with a player that know how to build a good defence). That being said, an orbiting moon with a defensive stat
I believe you have to type in your user name and password (same one that you registered Impulse with, at least it was for me) then either login or create account (sorry, don't remember what it says exactly). Once that is done, under manage account, you should be able to create a profile, for some reason, it doesn't take the profile you use for single-player. Once you've created a profile, just select it and hit use profile (I think) and you should be able to look for games, host g
I'll be honest, I don't play on-line. I don't mainly because I play at a rather slow pace, reinforcing each system as I go, slowly building my fleet creds until I have enought for a large fleet, then taking and rebuild each planet completely before I move on. I'm not much into the lightning raids and fast gameplay. On large maps, I can easily spend 20 or 30 hours. For me lightning just doesn't fit my play style for this game.
I think it might be cool to have a special munition you could fire through phase lanes to help clear enemy mine fields. The special munition would have to be near the very end of the research tree, require a special ship that has little armor and no shields, and does nothing else but fire this munition and it would have to cost for each time it was used. I'm not talking about a easy cheat total mine annihilation, but a tactical option that doesn't require a massed fleet of kamikaz
I think I would be a little nervous about introducing more factions into the Sins universe. The balance for this game is extremely good. I would hate to introduce another factor into that balance and mess it all up. I hope they concentrate on improving diplomacy and a campaign for the next expansion. BTW, I don't intend that statement to turn this into another campaign debate thread. There is already two of those running right now anyway. [e digicons]:P[/
I honestly don't understand the people that are saying that a campaign would be pointless, or that we should make up a story in our heads while we play and if we don't we're just lazy or lack imagination. Maybe I do lack imagination. With as good as Sins is (and it is one of the best games I have played, ever, in any genre) I think a good campaign is the one major thing this game is lacking. That being said, a campaign would have to be designed very very carefully, an
Thanks guys. I'm new to the whole forum thing, but I think it's great that the community has a voice in the game. Especially a great game like Sins.
Supremely awsome! Love it, love it all!
Responding to scootertgm, maybe 10-15 is to many, but I'm not talking that many right away, 3 or 4 to start with, and it levels up from there. Having a carrier that, even fully leveled up carries no more fighters than the same number of light carriers in fleet supply terms (cap ship is 50, LC's are 14 each, each LC carries 2 squadrons, so 14 x 3 = 42 fleet supply for LC's) is a bit dissapointing and counter intuitive. I just think that the carrier in this game behaves more li
That would be cool to have actual size and specs on each ship and strutures, (maybe a unlockable extras connected to the achivements for players to read after compleating each one, like in Battlestations: Midway). This would also give a real insentive to reach each achivement. You could also throw in a basic timeline/story line with it.
That is one of the BEST ideas I have seen for the achievments! Absolutely briliant way to make the achievments acutally mea
