Sounds like it could be the same problem i am having aswell (huge amounts of upload = dropped) though personally i don't get the connection terminated. I always like to be sure though...have you run a bandwidth monitor to see just how much your consuming? Cold figures are much better for convincing people. Not that i don't believe you, suffering with it myself. :)

Hmmm, the first thing that jumped out to me (other than making sure your drivers are upto date) is the fact you have an AMD processor. I know its a long shot, but have you got the AMD dual core optimizer installed? It can help with game performance in some cases. Here is the link for the optimizer if you havn't got it already. http://support.amd.com/us/Processor_TechDownloads/DCO_1.1.4.zip

Sounds suspiciously like my own problem as seen here http://forums.demigodthegame.com/347033 Give it a look, and try to download the mentioned programs (ping plotter and some bandwidth monitor). Run a few games with these in the background. Once you encounter you're error check to see if there is any similarity (namely upload saturation destroying your connection). If there is we can compare out location/setups/ISP's to try and fin
Comminuty is what makes or breaks a game, modding is a -very- large part of that community. For any sort of longevity i think they would need too. EDIT: The only problem is going to be the auto-matching/panth/custom games issue. Trying to ensure everyone has everything could be a nightmare.
This is ping plotter, a very nifty tool for monitoring hops/pings/packet loss to various addresses. My previous guestimate on upload usage was incorrect. The actual total used is 57+KB/s, an insane amount by any standards. Its the exact same error DoW is having (see... http://community.dawnofwar2.com/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=12341 ). Just to assure you i'm not making this up, here is a screen of
One of the main problems around Dawn of War 2 at the moment is a case of extreme upload saturation, which causes unplayable latencies (of the 2000+ variety) which then results in players being kicked. Dawn of War 2 uses a p2p system. I've played a few games of Demigod now (from the literally hundreds of attempts) and most have worked fine -however- i've recently checked over my logs for a few new games i've tried, and found this happening as soon as the game commences... Gas Powered Games have a history of driver conflicts with Logitech Webcams, would you have one of those installed per chance?
There was a time long ago when games where released virtually perfect. It was a time before widespread internet use, when you had no easy method of disributing fixes. I'd like to say Developers and publishers push games out according to deadlines, knowing full well they will release a "Day-0" patch and there will be a multitude of problems just to beat the competition etc but thats not the case. Back in the "golden age" of gaming, you have a handful of parts to try and make something
There aren't "bugs" in connection code as much as it needs to be identify players whose routers are too difficult to traverse. We are working on updates in the coming days that will give players more control over the connection in games. As for the pantheon games, when there are very few people online, it will take longer for it to find opponents. This is already changing even as the game is made available. [/q
You should try DoW2.
Don't even mention that waste of space game, bought it on pre-order and i -still- havn't played a full 3v3 because of the network saturation issues with the crappy netcode they used. However having said that, i can at least get into a game and start it easy enough, which with Demigod at the moment....is just a dream :(
Heh, i just get "Attempt to join game failed" 90% of the time. At least you get to watch it "connecting", reason to be cheerful no? :) Am sure they'll work things out.
Just a few things i'd like to see implimented. Most are UI aspects and wouldn't take long. Mouse over players column in lobby - displays players in room in a pop-up box along with pings. Ingame - display of connection to players along with Pings in a floating box. Main menu options(to alter graphics etc) in game room so you don't need to leave. Count down timer on host start so people can do the usual gl hf and know the game is starting rather than setup strai
Demo's released prior to game launches allow people to test it out, primarily undecided people. Many of them will not like the game, so the demo has a negative effect on sales. By releasing the game first, you get many of these undecided people with "itchy credit card fingers" purchasing a game they would otherwise not have (if they had played the demo). People who pirate "traditionally" don't buy games, so any sales generated from that market are a bonus. At least thats my ta
(I'm assuming your servers are running at full capactity now) The matchmaking system in Demigod is by far the worst i've experienced. I must have tried to join a good 30+ games and be faced with connection failures, crashes (who do we send the logs to by the way?), infact i think i've had 5/6 games total. Needless to say, a 15% success rate isn't swelling me with confidence. For a multiplayer focused game one thing has to be perfect...getting pe

I heard whatever.. than on uneven teams the players were granted more gold/experience (and maybe other things) but maybe it was jsut my imagination. I tend not to buy games right off the bat, prefering to test them out (argh me hearties!) before deciding if they are worth my hard earned money. I didn't do that this time, probably because it was an amalgamation of Stardock and GPG and for once i havn't been disappointed. The game keeps itself focused on what any game should be, quick fun. Its not the most taxing or complex game, but neither are legendary ones like Tetris. Being accessible and entertaining is the most important thin
Just out of interest, why the decision to release the demo -after- the game goes on sale?
I guess the "Home computer" is a class of PC's, so for me it would have to be boulderdash. That was one epic game. Oh for gameplay of the 80's with graphics of the 00's...what games we could imagine.
Piratebay, Isohunt et al don't host torrents, they simply provide a method to search them. This is something that GOOGLE does. So why don't you seen all these companies sueing google? Because Google has a LOT of money while these other, almost charity driven sites do not. They call it Peer to peer for a reason...because its us, the public who are sharing these files, not some web based search engine. Would you like to see Google shut down too? Piracy is for all intents and pur
If this ever actually gets made it could be one of those landmark games. Definately keeping track of its progress. Now if only there was a publisher around to help them move forward....
http://www.shopto.net/PC/GAMES/PCDE12-Demigod.html £18, approx $27.
Speaking of which, could you not have a pre-ordered section housed within "My Games" displaying the price/release date (countdown perhaps), which could then be automated to allow people to cancel their orders without emailing? Would be much more efficient from a workhours perspective.
