Honestly the biggest improvement i would do would only do this on purple side, and 2v1 top lane. Right now your early game is effectively a 2v1 because you have no defensive runes, and you come to lane only with Philo and nothing eilse really. That is not as big of a deal against melees top. Plus,, turrets will be more effective and you can push hard and try to take (or at least damage) the enemy turret. Then, swap back to botlane after first shop with your strong double smite dragon control.
while i agree you may not have single handly lost any games as support heim, i don't think that having support heim who has a lot of gold directly contributes to winning. It is able to draw out a losing game though ;) althoughi agree that zyra is a decent option at holding 2v1 and keeping the tower alive, onee thing i think you haven't mentioned is just how much gold you are funneling into the enemy adc with urrets and plants. wouldn't it be most productive to queue normals on your Alt if you wanted to practice mid? You've already got some rune pages (at least armor/MR). Practicing against level 30s makes a big difference and hopefully you can get the last remaining runes without too much difficulty (whereas going all the way to level 30 is a bitch). And i can't imagine your alt's Normal MMR being too high.

i disagree with a lot of what is being said here. Support is the best way to carry yourself to plat. (which is why i suspect i was forgotten in the OP). In silver/low gold support is basically completely an un-contested position. That means you can play your best role 80-90% of the time. The new thing this season is an upgraded "invitation" border. The only new thing you get from Gold -> Plat is that you get a forum badge on the official forum whereas gold gets no such thing. Like i said, it's a problem with laning. At 1:56 i lose control of the lane (wherever i am). Despite sometimes getting huge jungle camp i'm not able to convert that into a winning lane just because the technical skill gap atm is enormous (people keep having their "mains" in their Summoner name - shit's getting serious). Additionally since i'm playing with Plat Is you have the "hell-hole" of dealing with a I-division where everyone hates everything.

#teams: i'm going to start off by saying i don't particularily think the teams were imbalanced last time. Both games had back and forth and were reasonably close in terms of "chance of both teams to win at any given moment".
