Hades, it lags when you click Custom and Internet because the game is waiting for a response from the server, not because your computer is slow. Oh, Iron, why are you running a 4850 with a P4 processor? XD

How long did you give it to connect before you f4'd it? Keep in mind, if the game was truly frozen, alt+f4 would have about as much effect as throwing a sponge into the ocean. Typically you would have to go as far as ctrl+alt+del and end the process in the task manager manually. Try this: Start connecting to Skirmish, and go eat lunch. Come back, and see if it's still there. Typically it takes me a good 5 minutes (counting in my head) to connect to a Pantheon/Skirmish game fin

Your analogy with the car was cute, but there's a fine difference between a motorized vehicle that you rely on during your daily life and a game that you purchased...Okay, I won't assume, maybe that's a heavy reliance on that for you as well. If you want to generalize, yes, when you buy product 'A' and it doesn't work, you should be annoyed. However, and contrary to what you think, the situation with online multiplayer had actually been improving right up until this last patch. Everyone

All I keep reading is: "OMG, my team let the other team farm us for artifacts! Now we are losing! THIS GAME IS SO UNFAIR!!!!"

To answer your last question, obviously the devs tested this game before they released it. That's why thousands of other people are not having the same issue your gf is. There will always be exceptions to the rule, black sheep, whatever. You are one of them. To answer the question previous, I'm assuming you have run defrag on the C:\ and cleaned out what needs to be cleaned before attempting an installation? Shed some light on the details of what you have, what you did, and what you'v

What your seeing is called a "net split". It's the equivalent to a global meltdown in the sense that the "web" of connections holding all the players together simaultaneously collapses on itself, the result being every player disconnecting at once. This often happens in games where one particular player loses his connection to another player for whatever reason, and the entire "web" unravels as a result. Thus are the woes of p2p. The fact that Impulse stops working worries me...Here, try this

If you are playing over LAN exclusively and wish to do so until the next patch fixes the poorly-tested version out right now, I suggest re-installing the game on your machines, and not attempting to connect to the Internet lobby to avoid the game trying to patch itself.

Excellent criticism, however, you are not the OP, and your post was not dripping with obvious sarcasm. This is not reasonable, this is venting anger at the game in a thoughtless way for no other purpose than to make oneself feel better about it afterwards.

I can't say the performance you're seeing is really a surprise, the minimum hardware requirement is a 2.4GHz single core and you're rocking 3.0GHz.. :P While you wait, double check your video card drivers and make sure they're up to date. What kind of PCI-E card do you have? Or are you using an older AGP?

I don't see why this conversation has gone on for so long, or why any of you are still trying to prove the point. If you feed ANY character enough, they will dominate you, it doesn't matter how they choose to spend all that gold, if you or your team gives it to them, you will lose.

Um, I don't exactly see how you can 'farm' the poison potion when it requires you to DIE before you can drop it.

If you or your team has died enough that the enemy has been able to buy that many artifacts, you deserve to lose anyways.
